Lady Vols legend Candace Parker, South Carolina star Aliyah Boston starting new podcast

Yahoo21-07-2025
Lady Vols basketball legend Candace Parker is teaming up with former South Carolina women's basketball star Aliyah Boston to start a new podcast.
The new show is called "Post Moves" and the first episode will premiere July 30, according to Sports Business Journal, and is part of Sinclair's national podcast network. The podcast will have new episodes every Wednesday.
"Candace, you know you've been someone I've looked up to since I was a kid, and now I get to do a podcast with you?" Boston said in a video promo posted on X.
Boston, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, is set to make her third All-Star appearance on July 19 (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC). The first episode will feature Boston, the unanimous 2023 Rookie of the Year, sharing behind the scenes stories from WNBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis.
Parker, who won NCAA titles at Tennessee in 2007 and 2008, retired in 2024 as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. The two-time MVP won three WNBA titles with three different franchises – Sparks, Sky and Aces – during her 16-year career.
"Both of us post players dominate the paint in our own way," Parker said in the promo video. "Even though we're from different generations, we've got a lot to say about the game and life off the court as well."
Parker's career on the court may have ended, but she has only gotten busier off the court. She's the president of Adidas women's basketball and released a book titled "The Can-Do Mindset" in June. Parker has been involved in media with Bleacher Report, where she hosted a podcast called "The Trophy Room" and produced content with this year's WNBA rookie class.
Parker is also joining Amazon Prime Video as a studio analyst for its first season of NBA and WNBA coverage in 2025-26.
Parker is the only player in league history to rank in the top 10 all-time in points, assists, rebounds and blocks. She's also the only player to win WNBA Rookie of the year and MVP in the same season. Her jersey was retired by the Los Angeles Sparks on June 29, and the Chicago Sky will retire her jersey on Aug. 25, making her the second WNBA player to have her jersey retired by two franchises.

WNBA power rankings: With trade deadline looming and injuries threatening, league-leading Lynx and Liberty level up

The Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty have been at the top of the standings all year after meeting in last year's WNBA Finals. By every measurement possible, they are the two best teams in the WNBA. Still, with veteran general managers and coaches, they both have shown that the best teams don't stand pat and hope their good fortune will continue. The Liberty struck first, officially signing Belgian superstar Emma Meesseman last week. She hadn't played in a WNBA game since 2022 as she focused on building up the Belgian national team, which just repeated its EuroBasket title. She also won two EuroLeague titles and two EuroLeague MVPs in her time away from the WNBA. Meesseman is a skilled, smart player who elevates her teammates, and signing her was a huge boon for New York. The move was especially prescient as Breanna Stewart went down with a bone bruise on her knee on June 26; she currently has no timetable for a return. On Sunday against the Connecticut Sun, Meesseman scored 11 points in her 2025 debut in 17 minutes, showing some rust early but appearing more comfortable in the second half. 'I think just giving them some minutes, some glue, moving the ball, hitting people open. Just beautiful basketball, being a part of that already in New York,' Meesseman said after the game. 'One of my mottos is to keep it simple. If it works, it works. If you see someone open and they cut, give them the ball and get a layup. It's easy.' Just a few hours earlier, the Minnesota Lynx made a big move to strengthen their roster, trading for the Wings' Dijonai Carrington, who was named the league's Most Improved Player in 2024 and was on the first All-Defensive Team. Minnesota sent Diamond Miller and Karlie Samuelson to Dallas, as well as a 2027 second-round draft pick, in exchange for Carrington. The move came one day after Napheesa Collier left the Lynx's blowout win over the Aces with an ankle injury. According to ESPN, Collier is expected to miss two weeks with the injury. Similar to Stewart, Collier is the heart of her team, and she will be missed as her 2025 MVP campaign gets put on hold. This makes Carrington's arrival even more important. Minnesota is already strong on defense, leading the league by a healthy margin in defensive rating at 95.1. But Carrington will give them even more of a bite on defense, as her play can be downright menacing to opponents. She's also already played with Lynx players Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman when all three were in Connecticut. While it remains to be seen how these moves will play out for the Liberty and Lynx — less than a week removed from their first Finals rematch of the season — the fact that both teams have been so aggressive shows they both expect to play for the title. Fans will not have to wait long to see how Meesseman and Carrington impact their respective teams, because for reasons that only the WNBA scheduling gods know, the Lynx and Liberty will face off three more times in a span of 10 days this month. Though with the Lynx likely without Collier for that stretch, it will be difficult to determine how well-matched these teams really are. Performer of the week: Sabrina Ionescu, New York Liberty Playing without Breanna Stewart, the New York Liberty struggled, losing consecutive games to the Sparks, Wings, Lynx and Sun over the last week and a half. On Sunday, playing in Connecticut, Sabrina Ionescu came alive. She scored 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Liberty break their losing streak in a 87-78 win over the Sun. Game of the week Indiana Fever at Phoenix Mercury, Thursday, 10 p.m. ET on League Pass: This is one worth staying up late for. Indiana has hit a hot streak at the right time, winning five straight ahead of Tuesday night's matchup with the Sparks, even without Caitlin Clark. Phoenix, meanwhile, has been struggling, losing five of its last seven. The two teams are both battling for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, with the Mercury holding a slight advantage, so Thursday's game could be key for tiebreakers. Yahoo Sports power poll 1. Minnesota Lynx (24-5)2. New York Liberty (18-10)3. Atlanta Dream (18-11)4. Indiana Fever (17-12)5. Phoenix Mercury (17-11)6. Seattle Storm (16-13)7. Las Vegas Aces (15-14)8. Golden State Valkyries (14-14)9. Los Angeles Sparks (12-15)10. Washington Mystics (13-15)11. Dallas Wings (8-21)12. Chicago Sky (7-21)13. Connecticut Sun (5-22)

Zendaya Adds Chloë Sevigny's Favorite Sneakerina to Her Closet

The sneakerina just earned another ringing endorsement. Zendaya officially hopped aboard the budding trend, joining the likes of Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lawrence, and Chloë Sevigny in embracing the ballet flat-sneaker hybrid. While there are scores of sneakerinas on the market—ranging from the affordable Adidas and Pumas, to the higher-priced Wales Bonner and Louis Vuitton—Zendaya opted for the ECCO Biom C-Trail, a leather shoe with criss-crossing, pointe shoe-esque laces. Her funky footwear choice comes with another fashion girl stamp of approval: Sevigny, a longtime champion of the shoe, has been repping them for well over a year, styling them with everything from pastoral gingham skirts to denim smocks and gym shorts. JosiahW / BACKGRIDUSA BACKGRID USA Sevigny's approval notwithstanding, the $200 Biom C-Trails have a fashion pedigree: they were designed by former Chloé creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi. But the GORPy flat isn't just for the fashion-forward. With its rubber soles and all-terrain tread, it proved a welcome shoe choice for Zendaya's recent hike with her fiancé, Tom Holland, and their dogs. Zendaya went the high-low route, styling her sneakerinas with a pair of black, below-the-knee shorts, a Pepto Bismol pink men's sweater from The Row, and—of course—her Jessica McCormack engagement ring. With an endorsement from Sevigny and Zendaya, it seems like we've got a hot contender for the top sneakerina.

Liverpool are often left feel aggrieved when it comes to conducting business with La Liga clubs. Trent Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid is the most recent of them all and he is widely considered to be a traitor for the way he conducted himself. Moves for Michael Owen and Steve McManaman to the same destination weren't received too well either at the time. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Of course, Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho move to Barcelona instead and the amount of money they brought to the club as part of their transfer fees certainly helped to cushion the blow of losing them, but their departures were still painful in their own way - both at the peak of their powers. However, a beneficial La Liga move for one of Liverpool's talents may on the cards to break the cycle. Liverpool set to negotiate with La Liga again The player linked with a potential move is the young Welsh striker Lewis Koumas, who has recently been receiving opportunities in the first-team during domestic cup matches under Arne Slot. As with Jayden Danns in the academy, he's keen to start knocking on the door for regular football. However, with new signing Will Wright having joined the Reds from Salford, the pair's task is not set to get any easier, especially since Hugo Ekitike has signed for £79m and Alexander Isak is favoured. So it is to be expected that his future is going to be assessed this summer and the world is his oyster.
