Egypt, Jordan to activate MOUs in health, industrial zones, SMEs
The announcement came as the Egyptian Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, reviewed the report of expert meetings held in Amman ahead of the 33rd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Joint Committee.
The committee is co-chaired by the prime ministers of both countries, Mostafa Madbouly of Egypt and Jafar Hassan of Jordan.
In her remarks, Al-Mashat said that since the last session of the committee, bilateral trade volume had increased by 33% in 2024 to exceed $1bn, reflecting the continuous understanding and commitment between the two countries. She added that both governments were keen to overcome any challenges to further strengthen economic, trade, and investment relations.
The minister also highlighted achievements in the fields of electricity, gas, and oil, noting the continuation of the electrical grid connection between the two countries and ongoing studies to increase its capacity. In civil aviation, an air transport agreement and an MoU were signed to increase capacity.
During the current session's preparatory meetings, the delegations reached numerous understandings on documents scheduled to be signed by the prime ministers, covering fields such as planning, investment, government procurement, and tourism.
Al-Mashat also confirmed the agreement to activate a number of previously signed MoUs. These include agreements on the establishment and management of industrial zones, cooperation between financial regulatory authorities, and cooperation in free zones and development zones, as well as agreements between the countries' SME development agencies and health ministries.
An agreement was also reached to hold technical committees and meetings in areas including specifications and standards, consumer protection, and land and maritime transport.
The joint committee mechanism is one of the main tools through which Egypt seeks to strengthen economic, trade, and investment relations with other countries. The planning ministry oversees approximately 55 such committees.

AD: Tracking the Growth of Egypt's New Capital
AD: Tracking the Growth of Egypt's New Capital With ministries, universities, cultural landmarks, and growing residential communities in place, the New Capital is preparing for Phase 2. Fifty kilometres east of Cairo, Egypt's New Capital is shifting from an ambitious blueprint to a functioning urban centre. Conceived as part of a broader national plan to expand and modernise the country's urban footprint, the city now houses ministries, universities, cultural landmarks, and a growing residential population—while laying the groundwork for its next phase. The master developer is the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), a joint stock company operating under the Egyptian Tax Authority. ACUD is self-financed, carries no debt, and is responsible for overseeing the capital's phased development, infrastructure, and urban planning. Phase 1, which covers the government district, major residential zones, and core infrastructure, is 70% complete and operational. Around 25,000 families live in the city, alongside 50,000 government employees, 12,000 university students, and 20,000 school pupils. The Egyptian Cabinet has operated from here for two years, with all ministries now based in purpose-built offices. Education has emerged as a cornerstone of the New Capital's development. Six universities are already in operation—including the University of Hertfordshire, Egypt University of Informatics, the European Universities in Egypt, the Universities of Canada in Egypt, the German International University, and The Knowledge Hub. School options range from the Nile Egyptian International Schools to the Royal Canadian School-Cairo, New Capital English Schools, Cadmus International Schools, Citadel International School, and NIS by Dr. Nermien Ismail. Civic and cultural landmarks have also taken shape. The City of Arts and Culture has hosted concerts from Egyptian soprano Amira Selim and international artists such as Michael Bublè. Egypt's Islamic Cultural Center and the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ stand as architectural and symbolic anchors for the city. Connectivity, often a critical measure of a new city's viability, has been prioritised. The New Capital links to Cairo and New Cairo through an expanded road network, with the Light Rail Transit (LRT) already operational and the Monorail set to follow. Inside the city, an internal bus network connects to LRT and Monorail stops, supplemented by New Capital Cab and ride-hailing services like Uber, Careem, Indrive, and Didi. From the city centre, New Cairo is a 30-minute drive; central Cairo takes around 90 minutes. The city's lifestyle offering continues to expand, from hospitality like St. Regis Almasa New Capital to wellness, leisure, and retail spaces. Public services, including hospitals and municipal facilities, are being integrated alongside residential and commercial developments. With Phase 2 now in the master planning stage, the New Capital is positioned to scale further—adding new districts, facilities, and transport links. For Egypt, it is both a statement of intent and a long-term investment in reshaping how its cities grow. For those already living, working, and studying here, it is a place not in theory, but in practice.

PM: Egypt Projects Natural Gas Output to Reach 6.6 Bcf/Day by 2027
Ahmed Emam Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Wednesday that the country expects to boost its natural gas production to 6.6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) by 2027, up from the current 4.1 Bcf/d. Speaking during a briefing on the government's energy strategy, Madbouly highlighted ongoing investments in exploration, development, and infrastructure aimed at increasing output and meeting both domestic demand and export commitments. The Prime Minister noted that the expansion plan is part of Egypt's broader strategy to consolidate its role as a regional energy hub, leveraging its liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities and strategic location. Egypt has emerged as a key gas supplier in the Eastern Mediterranean, benefiting from recent discoveries such as the giant Zohr field. However, production levels have faced challenges in recent years due to natural field declines and fluctuating investment. Madbouly expressed confidence that new projects, combined with enhanced efficiency in existing fields, will enable Egypt to achieve the 2027 production target. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
