Ruth Langsford's 'shock message' to Eamonn Holmes amid 'fight to keep £3.6m mansion'

Daily Mirror20-07-2025
Ruth Langsford has never looked better and, as she moves on following her split from Eamonn Holmes, friends close to the star claim her ditching her wedding ring was a significant sign
There is 'no turning back' for Ruth Langsford, after being spotted without her wedding ring for the first time in more than a year after splitting from Eamonn Holmes. The Loose Women veteran announced her shock break-up with her husband of 14 years last May, and a source tells OK! that ditching the ring after so long was a significant move on Ruth's part.

The source close to the star says, 'Removing that ring might have been a shock to fans, after she's worn it for so long. But it was the final bit of closure. It was a message to Eamonn and symbolic that Ruth's marriage and that chapter of her life is over. She's closing the door on her past for good. 'Taking it off is Ruth saying, 'I've moved on, it's all behind me.' She's just desperate to get this divorce out of the way, now. There's no turning back.'

Keen cook Ruth, who has son Jack, 23, with her Belfast-born ex, also 65, posted an Instagram video recently which showed her happily prepping one of her 'favourite summer dishes' – a 'colourful, no-cook salad'. It's not the first time Ruth – now locked in a divorce battle with GB News presenter Eamonn – has shared her culinary exploits on social media, but it's the first time she's done so having quietly removed the wedding ring on her left hand.
It came after a frail-looking Eamonn, who continues to battle serious health issues, was seen using a walking frame at a glitzy night out in London with girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43, on his arm. The pair were attending fellow GB News star Nana Akua's glamorous party as Nana celebrated her engagement to fiancé Stephen Gillen at London's swanky Blue Marlin Club. As for Ruth, she has, for the most part, maintained a dignified silence on her split from Eamonn.
However, ditching her wedding ring could be the biggest sign yet that she's over her estranged husband, along with the wild nights out she has enjoyed with showbiz pals such as Rylan Clark and Lizzie Cundy, as documented on social media. Ruth, who has had quite a glow-up in recent months, did address the break-up on Instagram last September when a fan posed a question in response to a video she had posted, which showed her sharing how to make a healthy drink.

'Why has she still got her wedding rings on?' the fan asked, to which Ruth fired back, 'Because I'm still married.' She then added two crying with laughter emojis to make sure the fan knew she was keeping her sense of humour about the pointed question. Meanwhile, the former couple's divorce battle rumbles on.
Ruth had previously hired a top divorce lawyer, and it's believed she has been fighting to ensure she can keep their £3.6 million six-bedroom home in Surrey. Back in May, counsellor Katie had her own 'ring-gate' moment, when she took to social media to shut down rumours that she and Eamonn were engaged, after followers spotted what they thought was an engagement ring on her finger in a snap with former This Morning host Eamonn.

Katie preempted any speculation, stating, 'Before anyone jumps to the #ringgate bandwagon, the camera is reversed so... RightHandRingFinger!'
Meanwhile, whether Eamonn takes the next step with Katie or not, our source claims that Ruth is focused on the future. 'As all her friends are saying, Ruth has never looked or felt better. She's rested, she's looking great, she's enjoying her Pilates sessions and life is good.'

Indeed, the svelte-looking star – who also has her own successful clothing line on shopping channel QVC – is not only eating healthily but enjoying regular workouts, as she gave fans a sneak peek of her exercise routine last week, showcasing a workout which she claimed was already making her stronger.
'Weekend Pilates with @siobhanklloyd,' Ruth posted on Instagram. 'This move is called Baby Swan apparently – it was hard so I'm not looking forward to progressing to grown-up swan!! Really loving mixing up mat sessions and Reformer... my core is already feeling stronger.'
The source adds, 'Ruth is literally living her best life. She knows Eamonn is happy with Katie and she's really not bothered about what his future plans are. 'She's putting everything into looking after herself and her career right now, which she loves. The only thing holding her back is the divorce – it's going on way too long and she just wants it to be over so she can get on with her life.'

Brooklyn Beckham blasted by celebrity chef after burning bacon in carbonara clip

The aspiring chef, 26, made the culinary blunder in a clip shared with his 16.1 million Instagram followers and was last night blasted by Italian chef Aldo Zilli Brooklyn Beckham has been roasted by a top celebrity chef – for sticking burnt bacon on a carbonara. ‌ The 26-year-old made the culinary faux pas in a clip shared on social media. Last night Italian chef Aldo Zilli blasted: 'Nowadays every celebrity is jumping on the cooking bandwagon. Burning guanciale [bacon lardons] would cause it to become bitter, hard and make the carbonara taste terrible – maybe he needs a masterclass from Aldo Zilli! Stop changing recipes!" ‌ Zilli, 69, who specialises in Italian cuisine, was among hundreds to criticise the Beckham star, with one fan adding: 'As an Italian.. no. That cheek is burnt." But Brooklyn hit back: "Guanciale has a lot of sugar in and that's why it's darker. I slow cooked it so it's not burned.' It comes after reports of Victoria Beckham's four-word comment to Geri Horner amid Spice Girls 'feud'. ‌ It's not the Beckham star's first culinary gaffe. Last year, he was slammed for serving up blackened pizza in a clip plugging his new hot sauce, Cloud9. And he was branded 'unhygienic' for using sea water to make a pasta dish. His now defunct YouTube show Cookin with Brooklyn reportedly cost £74K per episode to produce. ‌ Brooklyn, now estranged from parents David and Victoria, renewed his vows to wife Nicola Peltz, 30, last week. A source said: 'This is a moment to celebrate their love and commitment, and to create a meaningful memory together." Back in June, Brooklyn shared a memory of the day he proposed to Nicola in 2019. At the time of the couple's third wedding anniversary in April, neither Victoria or David publicly wished the pair a happy anniversary which, according to reports, was unusual considering they are both avid social media users. The family feud intensified when Brooklyn failed to attend any his dad's 50th birthday parties in May. And highlighting the estrangement further, Brooklyn happily posted a birthday message to his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz. At the time he wrote: "Happy birthday Nelson x We love you." Aldo Zilli specialises in Italian, vegetarian and seafood cuisine. He has written over 10 books, including two autobiographies, and has appeared as a guest chef on many cookery and lifestyle TV shows. In 2009, he set the world record for the most times a pancake is flipped in a minute by flipping it 117 times.

Drag queen who had to be escorted by police from children's story telling event condemns protesters and threatens to sue after being barraged by abuse online

A drag queen escorted from a public library by police with a fellow performer has criticised protesters and accused them of scaring people away from their 'family-friendly' story time. Lady Portia Di'Monte, known as the 'North Ireland's First Lady of Drag', and Miss Dora Belle, were walked from Holywood Arches Library in Belfast by PSNI officers. Lady Portia read to the children while Miss Dora Belle narrated them with British Sign Language (BSL), including some 'stories celebrating diverse families'. But the event on August 1 was disrupted by protesters who stood outside. Northern Ireland's communities minister Gordon Lyons later said the event was 'not appropriate for children' and 'should not have taken place'. 'This joyful, ticketed event was held in a public library with full support from staff, parents, and festival organisers. It included readings of The Chronicles of Narnia, Dear Zoo, and stories celebrating diverse families', the drag star has said in response. 'Representation matters. When children see diversity reflected around them-whether it's queer people, deaf individuals, blended families, or those who feel different-it builds empathy, understanding, and resilience. 'These events are about joy, education, and creating spaces where every child can feel seen and valued'. Lady Portia has instructed lawyers and threatened to sue trolls who have launched a barrage of 'abuse and false accusations' online since the event. 'Children also enjoyed inclusive games, music, and a British Sign Language session - promoting communication and belonging for all. 'Despite its warm and educational focus, the event was disrupted by protesters whose actions created fear and discouraged some families from attending. 'The PSNI were present to maintain safety due to external threats - not because of any risk inside. 'Since the event, I have been subjected to abuse and false accusations online. I am now seeking legal advice to protect my reputation and my safety. 'To the families, staff, and supporters-thank you. To those spreading hate-I will not be silenced. I remain committed to creating safe, welcoming spaces for all children to grow up feeling accepted and proud of who they are'. The ticket-only event was advertised as 'suitable for all ages and families' and to 'champion individuality and inclusivity amongst its young audiences, featuring sing-alongs and dancing.' However, parents protested outside the library before the police were called to escort the two drag artists away and appeared to have given them a lift. The Police Service of Northern Ireland said: 'Police attended a report of a small demonstration at the Holywood Arches area of east Belfast on Friday August 1, shortly after 1.40pm and engaged with those present. 'Two people were escorted from the building to further ensure that there would be no breach of the peace. 'At this stage, no offences were determined to have taken place.' Footage of the incident showed at least three police officers went to the library. Protesters shouted 'shame on you', 'leave our kids alone' and 'you do your thing but leave our kids alone' at the drag artists. Lady Portia confronted the protesters and said they would have been welcome to attend before waving the classic story read to the children that day, Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. One critic commented on the video and said: 'The police are being used as a taxi service to ferry drag queens'. The incident has sparked a political row in Northern Ireland with critics asking why the police needed intervene. Gordon Lyons said the event had 'compromised the perception of our public libraries as a welcoming and inclusive space for all as set out in the Libraries NI policy'. He said he has 'directed' his officials 'to liaise with Libraries NI to ensure that policy is faithfully implemented'. While TUV MLA Timothy Gaston said: 'Drag performance, by its very nature, is a sexualised and exaggerated parody of womanhood - rooted in adult entertainment and gender subversion.

I Wear This Elevated Basic More Than Anything Else In My Wardrobe - And It's Selling Fast

@Instagram/@ @claudia_berresford, Grazia/Gemma Lavers There are clothes you have for a season, and then there are lifers. A 'lifer', per se, is what I like to refer to those absolute failsafes in your wardrobe as. Those items you know will always be on hand to save any outfit dilemmas (or consequential breakdowns). The best example of a lifer? A basic t-shirt. In fact, I wear a white t-shirt so often that if you were to bump into me on a Sunday morning coffee run, Thursday evening supermarket dash or Saturday evening on the sofa, chances are, I'd be wearing one. But, you don't need to take a peek into my wardrobe, an It-girl's suitcase or an A-lister's styling rail to know that we all have one item in common. The beauty in a t-shirt, of course, lies in its versatility. Whether you're planning on pairing it with an oversized blazer and trousers, or (my favourite), with a pair of COS jeans, a t-shirt will pull any outfit together, with no need to even think about it. ©Instagram/@claudia_berresford & Other Stories, Draped Asymmetric T-Shirt - White Look to & Other Stories for the perfect elevated t-shirt. Its style features flattering draping around the middle, a classic round neck and an asymmetric hemline. There are a couple of requirements that said t-shirt has to meet, however, before becoming a permanent fixture in my wardrobe rotation. It must have a round neck, for example, it must also not be see-through (you wouldn't believe how many white tees I've tried on and had the disappointing reality that I wouldn't be able to wear it out of the house), and it must also have that perfectly oversized fit. If it ticks all three of those boxes, then yes, you will see me in it for the next 10-15 working days. & Other Stories, Draped Asymmetric T-Shirt - Black The same style as its lighter counterpart, style the black with a bright coloured pair of trousers and ballet flats. Lately, the humble t-shirt has had a little bit of a quiet reinvention. While scrolling the high street, you might notice that t-shirts now come with additional elevated details - a considered fold, or a boxy bagginess. There's a gentle architecture to a draped t-shirt, the kind of shaping you'd expect from a statement dress or tailoring, yet it retains all the ease of a throw-on-and-go basic. & Other Stories' Draped Asymmetric T-Shirt has an asymmetric hem and comes in an array of different colours, from a classic white to a more transitional mole brown. Zara's iteration, its Washed Cap Sleeve T-Shirt, features softly draped sleeves that make a white tee look infinitely cooler (take your usual size, however). Both of these high street picks are proof that draping isn't necessarily a one-size thing - it can be more structured, or more flowy and romantic, all while keeping the familiar comfort of a t-shirt intact. Zara, Washed Cap Sleeve T-Shirt Zara's take on a draped t-shirt is equally as chic, with a round neck and draped cap sleeves. Stick to your usual size as the t-shirt comes up slightly oversized anyway, but still has that fitted middle. It's also available in two delectable darker colours, brown and mink. Just when you thought fashion couldn't possibly reinvent anything else, along comes the draped t-shirt. It's a subtle change, yes, but one with carefully placed folds, knots and ruching that brings a fresh shape to a piece we all know and love. And isn't that just the best thing about a draped t-shirt? You already know you're going to love it, as it holds the same qualities as a classic t-shirt, but it's just a little more exciting, and a little more, well, fun - I call that shopping smarter rather than shopping harder. You'll thank me later. Mango, T-Shirt With Gathered Asymmetrical Neck Mango's draped t-shirt features an asymmetric neck and gathering. A good one to have in your wardrobe when the 'nice top and jeans' formula comes up, finish the look with a pair of vintage Levi's and kitten heels. All Saints, Leslie Satin Short Sleeve Top All Saints also has a draped t-shirt, and its style is there to cinch you in and flatter. With inner drawstrings, adjustable length and zip closure, style this iteration with a pair of denim shorts and flat knee-high boots. River Island, Beige Short Sleeve Drape Side T-Shirt River Island's take looks similar to the popular & Other Stories style, and is available in a similar array of colours, including white, black and butter yellow. Use the t-shirt to dress up a pair of wide-leg trousers, and add colourful accessories. Whistles, White Twist Front Detail Tee Whistles has a white t-shirt with twist-front detailing at the chest, short sleeves and a crew neckline. The brand calls it a 'must-have addition to your spring/summer collection' and honestly, we can't disagree. H&M, Tie-Detail Top H&M is also another great place to head to if you're on the hunt for those basic pieces that build the foundation of a capsule wardrobe. Its Tie-Detail Top has all the hallmarks of the perfect tee, just with the addition of a tie around the middle.
