The user expressed disbelief, noting that while school expenses in the range of Rs 2–6 lakh are not uncommon, this particular figure was significantly higher than anything they had previously encountered. The Redditor also reflected on their own financial choices, sharing how they still hesitate over whether to invest Rs 20–30 lakh in an MBA, highlighting the stark contrast in financial situations.

Internet Reacts: Questions of Privilege, Access, and Intent
The post quickly gained traction, sparking a conversation around the culture of elite education. Many users commented on how such high-fee institutions cater to the ultra-rich, offering not just academics but social positioning through association with similarly wealthy peer groups.
One commenter pointed out that spending on premium education isn't just about learning—it's often about building networks and absorbing a particular mindset. According to them, what these parents are buying is entry into a social ecosystem that helps children see themselves as part of the country's economic elite from a young age.
Others took a more critical tone. A few users questioned whether such spending was justified, especially in a country where access to quality education remains unequal. One sarcastic remark noted that the taxes paid by such couples might be indirectly funding government school education for several other children—and possibly even the foreign education of a politician's child.
Not all reactions focused on criticism. Some users shared that even if they could afford such fees, they would still choose more modest schools for their children. These users expressed concerns about the values children might pick up in highly privileged environments. One response emphasized the importance of raising children who remain grounded, empathetic, and in touch with the realities of the broader society, rather than isolated in a bubble of affluence.

NSE reaches Rs 40 crore settlement with Sebi over data disclosure case
The National Stock Exchange of India has agreed to pay Rs 40.35 crore to settle charges related to the indirect sharing of confidential information on listed companies with a third-party vendor, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) said on Friday. ADVERTISEMENT The settlement ends regulatory proceedings against the exchange without admission of guilt, in a case that had raised concerns over governance lapses at one of India's most influential market institutions. The case relates to multiple governance lapses identified during a regulatory inspection for the period between February 2021 and March 2022. Sebi found that NSE, in the absence of a binding contract, had outsourced storage of historical trade data to a third-party vendor and permitted the transfer of sensitive information to a data subsidiary, which further disseminated it to external clients. This setup, according to Sebi, enabled clients to receive unpublished price-sensitive announcements before they were made public. In its order dated July 31, Sebi noted that NSE's system architecture 'enabled it to send unpublished price sensitive corporate announcement(s) to the clients of NDAL (NSE Data & Analytics Limited) prior to hosting the same on its website,' in violation of several market regulations, including the Sebi (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015. IDFC First Bank raises Rs 4,876 cr by allotting shares to Warburg Pincus firm
New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) Private sector lender IDFC First Bank on Friday said it has mobilised Rs 4,876 crore by allotting convertible cumulative preference shares (CCPS) to Currant Sea Investments B.V., an affiliate company of global growth investor Warburg Pincus. The board of directors of the bank (Board Committee) has on Friday approved the preferential allotment of 81,26,94,722 CCPS of face value of Rs 10 at an issue price of Rs 60 per unit to Currant Sea Investments B.V., aggregating to Rs 4,876 crore, IDFC First Bank said in a regulatory filing. The bank has received in-principle approvals from both BSE and National Stock Exchange of India on May 15, 2025, for the preferential issue, it said. In April this year, IDFC First Bank had approved a preferential allotment, which amounts to a 10 per cent stake in the private lender. For the first quarter ended June 2025, IDFC First Bank had reported a 32 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 463 crore as compared to Rs 681 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal. The total income rose to Rs 11,869 crore during the June quarter of 2025-26 from Rs 10,408 crore in the same quarter of FY25. The bank's asset quality showed deterioration as gross non-performing assets (NPAs) stood at 1.97 per cent of gross advances at the end of the June quarter against 1.90 per cent a year ago. Provisions for the quarter rose significantly to Rs 1,659 crore compared to Rs 994 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal due to slippages in the micro-finance book.
