This technological overhaul, which includes an ambitious artificial intelligence (AI) integration, marks a turning point in digital banking. It represents a decisive commitment to personalization, with a radically enhanced user experience. The new app multiplies the benefits of being a customer: direct access to cards and Bizum to make fast, simple payments, personalized savings plans and a financial coach to help manage finances, among other new developments.
'2025 marks the start of a new strategic cycle for BBVA, in which we have committed to incorporate a customer perspective into everything we do in a radical way. This new app is a clear example of this. Every customer will have their own version of the app,' said CEO Onur Genç during the presentation of the project.
The most obvious change is the new look—new colors, font and style—accompanied by a technological leap that is reflected in the app's rapid response time, up to six times faster than the previous version. Another novelty is the integration of its own wallet. Customers can have access to their cards or send a Bizum to their most frequent contacts as soon as they open the app.
To do so, they will have to identify themselves using the device's biometrics. This reduces the number of steps to a minimum, while maintaining the highest security standards in the market. Users can view card balances, pay or check data (PAN, expiration date and CVV). Furthermore, an innovative new discreet mode automatically hides account balances and transactions to prevent prying eyes.
Artificial intelligence takes the spotlight in BBVA's app, as it allows each customer to organize the app in a different way, based on their habits. The level of personalization will be so advanced that users will be able to use Apple Intelligence technology to create a personalized design for their cards in the digital environment of the BBVA app. This feature will soon be available exclusively for Visa cards and those with iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 phones.
But the app goes far beyond personalization. In addition to the updated virtual assistant, Blue, which is now able to answer customer questions with natural language, the app is also incorporating a new financial coach. This companion analyzes the customer's financial situation and suggests specific steps they can take to help improve their personal finances. The coach makes an initial assessment of the customer's income, expenses, savings and loans and identifies opportunities for improvement. The user is the one who decides whether or not they would like to set a savings goal or cost control target. The coach suggests savings tools and ways to reduce expenses by category based on the customer's spending habits.
BBVA se reinventa con una nueva 'app' en España, con más IA, personalizable y que incentiva el ahorro
Many of these improvements that go hand-in-hand with the artificial intelligence will be available for users in the next few days, and will gradually be rolled out in the coming weeks to reach as many customers as possible.
In addition, in order to improve customers' financial health, BBVA is combining these tools with new incentives to help plan day-to-day finances, anticipating upcoming bills and avoiding unexpected surprises. In addition, BBVA customers in Spain will automatically have overdraft coverage of up to €300 to pay for bills if they do not have sufficient funds in their account.
The app will alert customers of the bill and offer suggestions to make the payment. All of this with the aim of helping BBVA customers acquire good financial habits that allow them to have greater control over their current and future financial situation. This benefit will be available for eligible customers who meet certain criteria.
BBVA also wants its customers to feel supported when they take their first steps in investing and building savings habits. Therefore, it will offer a variety of funds designed for different customer profiles, with educational resources included, and a €300 bonus (gross) in case of negative returns the first year investing.
The BBVA app also allows customers to set aside savings in a digital piggy bank. Customers can reserve whatever amount they want, separating it from their checking account. Now, BBVA will reward customers for good savings habits with a six percent bonus for customers who regularly set aside part of their income each month. At the end of every month, BBVA will reward the amount saved from their paychecks, pensions or unemployment checks with up to €20 per month for three months.
These are just some of the latest updates to the BBVA app. Throughout the year, new features will be added, covering a wide range of different aspects–from energy-saving tools and insurance to new opportunities for investors.

Reform is Corbynism with a flag: the Tories stand for economic freedom
I confess I shudder every time I hear that word. Yet politicians from Keir Starmer to Nigel Farage are now gleefully chanting 'nationalisation!' as a solution to every economic challenge in the utterly deluded belief that the answer to our problems is getting civil servants to take control of business. The Conservative Party knows that the state is already too big, much too slow, and doing far too much and doing it badly. Some of that happened under previous Conservative governments. It's my job to fix this and to ensure that those mistakes are never repeated. The solution isn't more government, it's smarter government, better government – and that means getting out of the way of private enterprise. Growth comes from business, from the risk-takers, from the people who devote their time, money and energy to building things. It doesn't come from the politicians sat in offices dreaming up new ways to spend your taxes. Yet that is now the way Starmer and Farage are talking about economic growth. Let's start with oil and gas. As many as 10,000 jobs have been lost in this sector recently. According to Offshore Energies UK, capital investment in our domestic industry is set to collapse from £14.1 billion to £2.3 billion in just four years. The business environment is not friendly and not competitive. But what is Reform's answer? Give the Government a stake in new oil and gas fields. Labour's? Hike the so-called 'windfall tax' and make it permanent. Both will scare off serious investors. On Friday I called on the Labour Government to scrap the windfall tax on North Sea producers. The windfall is gone, but the tax is still there, strangling investment and killing jobs and growth. I am proposing a solution that puts business and workers first. But naturally Labour criticised it. The same fantasy economics is playing out in steel. British Steel in Scunthorpe is haemorrhaging money – losing nearly £1 million a day. Labour's answer is to nationalise it. Reform's is to do the same, but with even more gusto! When the Port Talbot steelworks faced a similar crisis, I worked with a private company – Tata Steel – to find a solution that made economic sense and secured a future for the community in South Wales. Because unlike Starmer and Farage, I know to be successful a business doesn't need politicians telling it how to operate. It needs politicians who will listen to what those who do the job says works. The Labour government started taking us backwards last year – sneaking through rail nationalisation, hoping voters had forgotten the British Rail disaster. It's not just farcical that the first nationalised train ended up being a replacement bus service, it's a warning of what's to come. And after oil, steel and rail, the next on their list is water. The drumbeat to nationalise Thames Water is getting louder. But the answer isn't to send civil servants in. The answer is to create a climate where investment flows in rather than out. That means protecting the profit motive, not punishing it. Everyone knows we Conservatives have a battle on our hands. Reform pretends to be a Right-wing party, but economically Reform is Corbynism with a flag: more benefits, more subsidies, more central planning, more control. It is socialism that is dressed up as patriotism. Under Labour, business taxes are at record highs. The Trade unions are running everything from education to business policy – hence the Employment Rights Bill that effectively makes everyone a union member unless they choose to opt out of it. The public sector is getting inflation-busting pay rises, while the private sector (the source of economic growth) is getting squeezed. It should tell you all you need to know that 10,000 entrepreneurs have already fled the country since Starmer took over last year. Reform and Labour both want to grow the state. Under my leadership the Conservatives will prioritise growing opportunity and prosperity. Margaret Thatcher once said progress comes from the 'inventiveness, ability, determination and the pioneering spirit' of ordinary people. She was right then and she's right now. The Conservative Party is not here to run your business, or burden you with endless taxes and pointless regulation. We are the last line of defence for economic freedom, and we will stop the other parties from taking away what belongs to you.

Viktor Gyokeres: Striker would prefer move to Arsenal over Man United
Manchester United's hopes of signing Viktor Gyokeres appear to have taken a blow after it emerged that the Sporting Lisbon striker would prefer a move to Arsenal. After failing in their pursuit of Liam Delap, United turned their attention to Gyokeres, who has earned a reputation as the most feared striker in Portugal after plundering 97 goals in 102 appearances for the reigning Primeira Liga champions. After United held exploratory talks with Gyokeres, the forward has let it be known that he wants to join Arsenal, although it remains to be seen whether the London club push ahead with their bid to sign the 27-year-old. Arsenal are thought to be split on the idea of whether they should sign Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is known to be a big fan of Sesko, but he rejected the chance to sign the Slovenia international because Leipzig wanted about £60million for the 22-year-old. United have also submitted an offer for the Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo that would amount to £55million but Tottenham Hotspur could now sign him after Thomas Frank's appointment as Spurs head coach. Gyokeres thrived under Ruben Amorim, now the United manager, during their time together at Sporting but it is understood that the striker wishes to play in the Champions League next season. United will not compete in Europe because of their 15th-place finish in the Premier League and their loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final. Gyokeres has a €100million release clause in his Sporting contract CARLOS RODRIGUES/GETTY IMAGES Gyokeres's valuation has been the subject of much discussion in Lisbon this week. He and his representatives thought he would be allowed to leave for about £60million, even though there is a €100million (about £85million) release clause in his contract. 'I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €70million because I never promised that,' the Sporting president, Frederico Varandas, said. 'To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres — neither today nor last season.' Gyokeres has already played in England, having spent three seasons with Coventry City in the Championship after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion, before joining Sporting under Amorim. United are in need of a goalscorer after their first-choice striker Rasmus Hojlund endured a miserable season, scoring ten goals in 52 matches in all competitions.
