218 JBT posts up for graps in Chandigarh primary govt schools
The advertisement was issued on Monday, and online application window will open on Aug 7 and close on Aug 28, while the last date for fee payment is Aug 30.
"These appointments are crucial for addressing the teacher shortage in govt primary schools and for strengthening foundational education across the Union Territory," said Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, director of school education.
Applicants must be graduates with a two-year diploma in elementary education and should have cleared the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET).
A certificate in computer skills will be required before appointment. The selected candidates will be paid a fixed monthly remuneration of Rs 45,260.
Of the total posts, 111 are for general category, 44 for OBC, 41 for SC, and 22 for EWS. Eight posts are reserved for persons with disabilities and 22 for ex-servicemen.
The selection will be based entirely on an objective-type written test of 150 marks. There will be no interview.

The test will cover general awareness, reasoning, teaching aptitude, language skills, and subject-specific knowledge, with negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. A minimum of 40% marks will be required to qualify.

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation to set up rest areas for 108 ambulance drivers
COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has decided to set up a rest area with bath and toilet facilities for 108 ambulance drivers and its emergency medical technicians. A special resolution in this regard was passed at the CCM's ordinary council meeting held at Victoria Hall on Thursday. Mayor K Ranganayaki, who moved the resolution, announced Rs 1 crore has been allocated to set up rest areas in all the five municipal zones. "The 108 ambulance drivers and their emergency medical technicians work round the clock even during the rainy seasons and scorching heat. Their efforts were enormous during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, they are suffering due to the lack of comfortable rest areas as well as basic amenities. The proposed rest area with bath and toilet facilities would greatly help them," said Mayor Ranganayaki, who allotted the amount under her emergency grievance redressal camp's special fund. Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran said the proposal is in its initial stage and they have to find out the place suitable for the ambulance drivers and its staff along with working out the cost. Likewise, the commissioner has also announced that two rest areas for gig workers similar to that set up by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will also be set up in Coimbatore.

15 students from Krishnagiri get MBBS seat under 7.5 per cent quota
KRISHNAGIRI: A total of 15 government school students secured MBBS admission under the 7.5% reservation in Krishnagiri district this academic year. Among them 13 got admission in government colleges like Madras Medical College, Kilpauk Medical College, government colleges at Thanjavur, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Thoothukudi and others and two students got seat at a private medical college in Coimbatore, stated school education department sources. Out of 15 students in the district, seven are from Krishnagiri District Government Model School, four from the Government Higher Secondary School at Kunnathur, one each from the RV Boys Higher Secondary School at Hosur, Rayakottai, Pavakkal and Orappam. The state government provides 7.5% reservation in professional courses for government school students. M Sathish Kumar of Bandaseemanur village, near Bargur, who stood second in the state in the General category, got admission at the Madras Medical College. He told TNIE "After I lost my father in 2014 my mother Kokila who is a cook with monthly wages of around Rs 6,000 took care of me. I studied in the Panchayat Union Middle School in my village from Class 1 to 8 and went to the Government Higher Secondary School at Santhur for Class 9 and 10. Then I enrolled at the Krishnagiri District Government Model School for Class 11 and 12, securing 558 in the Class 12 board exam. Last year I went for a private coaching at Salem for six months after pledging my mother's jewels and secured 563 marks in NEET this year and finally secured a seat at MMC." Similarly, K Arun Kumar of Hosur studied at RV Government Boys Higher Secondary School and secured 493 in NEET. He secured a seat at the Omandurar Government Medical College. His father A Karmegam (45) runs a tea stall at Hosur. Kumar had two years coaching in a private institute at Salem. He cleared NEET in his third attempt.
