Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta distribute appointment letters to 1400 nurses
Rekha Gupta told the reporters, 'It is a matter of great joy that, after many years in the history of the Delhi government, appointment letters for permanent nursing staff have been distributed by the government. For years, due to a shortage of staff, Delhi's hospitals have been running in a disorganised manner. The government has made significant efforts within its tenure to fill these vacancies, and today, approximately 1,400 nurses have been given appointment letters.'
Delhi CM further congratulated the health department and the Health Ministry.
'Our effort is to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines, doctors, staff, or infrastructure in Delhi's hospitals. From the bottom of our hearts, we extend heartfelt congratulations to the entire health department, the Health Ministry, and the Health Minister. We request everyone to come together and serve the people of Delhi,' CM Gupta said.
During the same event, Union Minister Nadda and CM Rekha Gupta also flagged off Ayushman Bharat Registration Vans in Vigyan Bhawan on Sunday.
Addressing the event, the BJP chief slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for not using Rs 1700 crore under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme for public welfare.
He said, 'Under PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, we had given Rs 1700 crore to Delhi between 2021 to February 2025, but not one penny was spent, and now the responsibility of the expenditure of this fund for the public welfare has fallen on the shoulders of (Delhi CM) Rekha ji.'
Continuing his attack against AAP, he added, 'We were ready to quench Delhi's thirst with water, but you kept the vessel upside down, so what could be done? On February 20, you turned up the vessel, so you got Ayushman Bharat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ready to provide Rs 5 lakh for the poor's healthcare since September 2, 2017. Their pride came in between. They did injustice to the poor.'
Lauding Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Nadda targeted Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinic and called AAP shortsighted.
'A wise man is farsighted and thinks of Ayushman Arogya Mandir, and shortsighted ones bring Mohalla Clinics. From the time a mother conceives a child to the time the child turns two, Ayushman Arogya Mandir takes care of all the vaccinations. India is playing a lead role in reproductive and child health care,' JP Nadda said. (ANI)

Subsequently, the Jhansi Railway Control was informed about the woman's condition and she was deboarded at Jhansi station on Saturday afternoon. Seeing the critical situation, a female ticket-checking staff member and an army officer stationed nearby sprang into action and came to the assistance of the woman. Meanwhile, Dr Rohit Bachwala (31), a medical officer with the Army Medical Corps, was waiting for his train when he witnessed a railway employee rushing a woman in distress on a wheelchair. 'With no access to a proper operation theatre, I had to rely on tools I had on me," Major Bachwala told the PTI. 'To clamp the umbilical cord, I used a hair clip. A pocket knife helped me cut it after ensuring the baby was stable. The mother and child were in a precarious condition, and every second mattered." He further shared that the woman had collapsed due to intense labour pain near the lift area when he intervened. "There was no time to waste. We created a makeshift delivery area and ensured basic hygiene with the help of available supplies. It was divine intervention that I was present at that moment," he added. Post-delivery, both mother and baby were shifted to a local hospital by ambulance, with railway staff facilitating the arrangements. Doctors later confirmed both were in stable condition. In a statement, the North Central Railway's Jhansi division said, 'As soon as the information was received, the Jhansi control room activated a team for medical assistance. When the train arrived at the station, the railway medical team and ticket-checking staff promptly attended to the passenger." Delhi Health Minister slams previous AAP govt for failure to fill vacancies
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Sunday hit out at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for failure to give appointment letters to hospital staff in the city, due to which the medical services deteriorated over the years. He said after a gap of 15 years, appointment letters were issued to nursing officers and allied healthcare professionals in the city. 'It is a matter of pride that our government is addressing the staff shortage that came to our notice after government formation,' Singh told IANS, assuring that the Rekha Gupta government is committed to working closely with the medical department officials and staff to improve facilities in the city. He was speaking to reporters after Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda handed over appointment letters to 1,388 Nursing Officers and 41 Allied Healthcare Professionals. The Delhi Health Minister said this recruitment of nurses should have been done five years ago, but the previous government failed to do so. Giving an update on the free medical insurance for 70-plus citizens, the Health Minister said the Delhi government has managed to issue over two lakh cards under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY). Earlier, Nadda said, 'The Delhi government is working in the direction of ensuring the right to be healthy throughout life with dignity under Vay Vandana. Till date, 4 lakh Ayushman Cards have been issued in Delhi, with 2 lakh cards issued under Vay Vandana.' He urged all stakeholders to work dedicatedly towards implementing PM-ABHIM in Delhi and fulfil the target of opening 1,100 Ayushman Arogya mandirs till 31st March, 2026. Flagging off 20 Ayushman Bharat Registration Vans, he said, 'Running 70 specially designed Vans in all Assembly constituencies is a novel initiative in order to cover all eligible beneficiaries of PM Jan Arogya Scheme.' 'Twenty specially designed mobile vans are being flagged off. Seventy such Vans will cover 70 Assembly constituencies where they will collect and generate data for issuance of Ayushman Card and register the beneficiaries at their doorsteps,' he said.

Palwal CMO seeks s 15L bribe to let hospital operate, caught in sting op
Gurgaon: The state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau arrested Palwal's chief medical officer (CMO) after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh at his official residence in a sting operation organised on Thursday night. Officials said Palwal resident Manohar, one of the three partners of Sunrise Trauma Hospital in the south Haryana district, complained to the state vigilance bureau last week that CMO Dr Jai Bhagwan was demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh to let the facility operate. Manohar alleged that the CMO threatened to shut down the facility by claiming that there were deficiencies in its functioning. The hospital, according to Manohar, was opened three months ago by him and two others – Dheeraj and Subhash. Dr Bhagwan was arrested as soon as he took the cash. SVACB also carried out a search at the house and found cash worth Rs 3 lakh in a cupboard there. "A case has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 308(2) (extortion) of BNS. Further investigation is underway," a member of the SVACB said on Friday. Sources told TOI that the CMO may have sought bribes related to administrative permissions or contractual clearances under the health department. Investigators are looking into the possibility of the involvement of other officials in the district health department. Dr Bhagwan has been suspended in the past after being accused of serious allegations. In 2020, while he was the Jind CMO, Dr Bhagwan was suspended after a departmental probe found irregularities in the recruitment of ayurvedic medical officers. He was accused of manipulating vacancy declarations and bypassing merit-based selections. The same year, while serving as the civil surgeon in Kaithal, he led a raid on a diagnostics centre suspected of conducting illegal prenatal sex determination tests. But the officer was suspended soon after, following a complaint filed by a local BJP MLA. His suspension triggered statewide protests, with the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association calling it unjust and punishment for his efforts to curb illegal practices. Dr Bhagwan, during his stint as the Gurgaon CMO, was accused of molestation by a nurse in 2018. Then, in 2021, as Sonipat's principal medical officer, an FIR for molestation was registered against him after a doctor alleged that he had sent her obscene messages. He was suspended by the health department a third time.
