'Thalaivan Thalaivii' Twitter review: Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's film strikes a chord with family audiences, VJS is back in vintage form
Vijay Sethupathi
and Nithya Menon, released in cinemas today (July 25), has received a good response from the audience. Directed by
Pandiraj
, this film, centered around a family and blending comedy and emotion, received praise from fans on social media within hours of its release.
The title 'Thalaivan Thalaivii' and the structure of the story provide the audience with a sense of humor and family at the same time.
Fans celebrate the fun-filled first half
Fans are very excited during the intermission of the first half of the film. "Vijay Sethupathi's vintage mood! After 'Naanum Rowdy Thaan', he is once again acting like that little boy in a striped suit!" wrote one person. "Nithya Menon and Vijay have been fighting and getting into a fight.
The love between wife and husband is so pali!" said another. Most of the fans have praised the film's comedy, family atmosphere, and the chemistry between the two.
Audience loves the
emotional-comedy
blend
'The comedy and emotion worked… but two of the songs were a bit weak,' said one critic. Furthermore, social media reviews say, 'Although the family is the heart of the story, in Pandiraj style, the laughter and resilience are perfectly combined.' Some have commented, "The realistic touch of married life is great!"
Telugu version 'Sir Madam' skips release
Meanwhile, the Telugu version of 'Thalaivan Thalaivii, 'Sir Madam', was not released in theatres as planned today. Reports suggest that the reason for this could be the postponement due to a potential clash with
Pawan Kalyan
's 'Hari Hara Veeramallu,' or a direct OTT release may have been planned. However, no official announcement has been made by the producers yet.

'Thammudu' OTT release: When and where to watch Nithiin's action drama; read more
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) After its theatrical release on July 4, 2025, 'Thammudu' is all set for its digital debut. The Nithiin-starrer, which struggled at the box office amid mixed-to-negative reviews, will begin streaming on Netflix from August 1. The platform confirmed the release date through an official post that read, 'Thana lakshyanni, akkani thirigi thevadaniki ee thammudu is on a mission!' The film will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, opening it up to a broader South Indian audience. A story of siblings, survival, and skill 'Thammudu' follows Jai, played by Nithiin , a gifted archer separated from his sister Jhansi in childhood. Years later, Jhansi, now a principled government officer, refuses to sign a falsified report about a chemical factory explosion in Vizag. Her moral stand turns her into a target of powerful and corrupt forces. As her world begins to crumble, Jai reenters her life. The hero is determined to protect her and her family using not just courage, but also the precision of his bow. Even with an intriguing plot, the movie had received mostly mixed reviews from the audiences. Thammudu - Official Trailer A packed cast and a new turn for familiar faces Directed and written by Venu Sriram, 'Thammudu' marks his first collaboration with Nithiin. The film also brings actress Laya back to Telugu screens, years after her brief appearance in Amar Akbar Anthony. The supporting cast includes Sapthami Gowda, Varsha Bollamma, Saurabh Sachdeva, Swasika, and Hari Teja, among others. B. Ajaneesh Loknath's music received decent responses from the viewers. ETimes gave the movie a rating of only 2 stars out of 5 and an excerpt from our official review read, "On the technical front, the film is visually appealing, with cinematographer KV Guhan capturing the tribal locales with flair. Ajaneesh Loknath's background score is atmospheric but rarely elevates the emotional beats. The action choreography is stylised, though several sequences stretch believability, further distancing the viewer from the story's emotional core. Thammudu had all the ingredients for a stirring emotional-action drama, but in trying too hard to be everything, it ends up being less than the sum of its parts. A film that had the potential to hit the bullseye sadly misses the mark."

'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' box office collections day 5: Pawan Kalyan's film crosses Rs 75 cr; epic period drama sees weekend growth
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Pawan Kalyan's much-anticipated epic 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' has crossed the Rs 75 crore mark at the Indian box office within just five days of release. As reported by the Sacnilk website, with an estimated Rs 10.91 crore earned on its first Sunday. The film gained a notable upward momentum after a sharp Friday dip. From its Wednesday premiere to the weekend, the period action-drama saw fluctuations in its daily figures, yet sustained enough audience interest to build a solid five-day total of Rs 75.56 crore net. Mixed trends through opening days Reportedly, the Telugu-language historical drama opened with Rs 12.75 crore on its premiere day, before delivering a massive Rs 34.75 crore haul on Thursday, its official Day 1. However, Friday saw a sharp drop to Rs 8 crore, which was majorly due to negative reviews for the Pawan Kalyan starrer. According to the sources, Saturday brought a modest recovery with Rs 9.15 crore, and Sunday further jumped to Rs 10.91 crore in all in Telugu. This gave the makers reason to breathe easy heading into the week. Monday's collection is still pending, but all eyes are now on the weekday hold to see if the film's momentum can continue. A star-driven spectacle with a historical backdrop Set in the 17th-century Mughal Empire, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' stars Pawan Kalyan as the legendary warrior tasked with recovering the Koh-i-Noor diamond to liberate a city under siege. The cast features Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal, Sathyaraj, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi, and Jisshu Sengupta. Hari Hara Veera Mallu | Song - Evaradi Evaradi On the negative side, with all these high prospects, the movie has failed to impress the audiences. 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' is getting only mixed reviews from the audieces and majority of them are complaining about the inconsistent story telling and poor VFX. Let's wait and watch whether the film's collections will maintain in the coming days.
