McLaurin-Loving Rival 'Will Be First on the Phone' for Trade with Commanders
The idea of the Washington Commanders trading Terry McLaurin to the New England Patriots is, as near as we can tell, one completely made up — in an irresponsible manner — by a Boston website.

And yet ...
The concept, errant as it seems, is gaining enough momentum that Fox Sports 1's Colin Cowherd was joined by Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer in a video segment headlined with the suggestion that the Patriots are eyeing'' McLaurin.
In the segment, it is worth noting that Breer sort of shuts it down; he has likely read the origin story (as we have) and recognizes that the entire thing is made up.
He also says the relationship between contract holdout McLaurin, coach Dan Quinn and the organization is such that eventually, a new deal will be worked out.
And on that issue, we agree, with McLaurin obviously due to eventually come in at over $30 million APY.

Said Breer: "I just don't see where the Commanders are going to walk away from him ... after everything he's been through. ... He really values having been through all of that. And Dan Quinn really values him.''
So far, so good.
Next, though, the reporter attempts a stretch of logic to create a connection, pointing out that Pats boss "Mike Vrabel coached and played at Ohio State'' and therefore knows all about fellow Buckeyes star McLaurin.
Tap the brakes here. There are, by our count, presently 75 Buckeyes on NFL rosters ... and a record 14 Ohio State products just got drafted.
We assume Vrabel has a familiarity with all of them ... but that doesn't mean much.

And then one more point from Breer, with a gigantic "if.''
"I do think that New England,'' he said, "will be one of the first teams on the phone if he actually becomes available.''
Of that suggestion, we will not argue. But it will have little to do with him being a Buckeye and it will have nothing to do with the wacky NESN article that triggered this non-story into the mainstream.
It will have everything to do with Washington and McLaurin clashing so violently over the contract that both seek a permanent divorce.
And that is not likely happening.

Parsons is in the final year of his contract and due to make $21 million in 2025 ... so the Cowboys are not obliged to do anything. Indeed, they have the option to franchise tag him for the next two years - though that stands in conflict with what both sides have long planned. It has been some training camp for Dallas Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue as the former Texas Longhorn has been rewarded for stacking good days in practice with first-team reps. Seen as a lightning bolt out of the backfield, Blue as a runner and receiver is devastating, and through the first week of camp, Jaydon has been making play after play to the point where he's looking settled working with the starting offense. Yeah, we understand that it's only training camp, but Blue is doing everything expected of him, and to the extent that head coach Brian Schottenheimer has given the rookie a rather nice comparison to a three-time Pro Bowler, and a member of the Hall of Fame All-2010 Team. "Jaydon, he's picked up the confidence and the understanding of what we're trying to do and the understanding of the preparation,' Schottenheimer said. "When guys do that, you reward them. The quickness and the ability to accelerate in the hole, it's just different. "He's got incredible lateral agility, quickness, and when he jump cuts or moves laterally, he's able to get to top speed in a hurry, and he doesn't need a lot of space. He reminds me of the quickness and acceleration of Darren Sproles. Darren was freaky with his quickness, acceleration, and speed. I think Jaydon has some of those traits in terms of he's electric when he gets the ball.' That is quite the comparison, with Sproles having played 14 years in the NFL and being known for his speed and agility to make defenders miss, plus his ability as a receiver, it is clear Schotty sees something similar in Blue. So that is something to aim for, but Blue must now continue to stack good days in Oxnard, because there are chances on Schottenheimer's offense, if he's good enough and right now, he's making his head coach take notice. There will be a role for Blue in 2025, but exactly what that is we don't know. But one thing is for certain, he might be too electric to not have on the field.
