THE BBC has officially axed challenge show Survivor despite splurging a reported £30million on the reboot.
The decision means the reality programme is being seen as television's most expensive flop.

After the new version tanked in the ratings, there had been speculation that a second series was paused.
Now, host Joel Dommett has posted an update revealing that it has gone for good.
Former I'm A Celebrity star Joel, 40, said: 'It just shows you how nothing is a given in telly.
'I thought Survivor would be huge. I thought that would be my job for the next 20 years.
'I've done shows and thought that's not coming back and it keeps coming back and then you do something like Survivor, which you think is guaranteed and it doesn't come back.'
The format is a huge hit across the world, particularly in the US where it was aired for 25 years.
It involves contestants being marooned in a remote location where they compete in challenges to win rations, supplies and rewards, plus immunity from elimination.
ITV launched a UK version in 2001, hosted by Mark Austin and then Mark Nicholas, but it folded after just two series.
However, the BBC was confident that, more than two decades on, it was worth giving it another go.
The latest version, filmed in the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2023 was said to have cost £30million to make.

But it attracted an average of only 2.6million viewers when it aired that October.
A source said: 'Survivor was given a plum spot in the schedule right after Strictly Come Dancing but totally tanked.

Joel Dommett
'Execs just can't get their head around why the UK just can't find any love for a format which is beloved around the globe.
'After a year of speculation that the BBC's remake was facing the chop, it's now official.
'It's looking like TV's most expensive flop ever.'
However, Joel remains one of TV's most popular presenters and will soon be seen hosting next month's National Television Awards on ITV.
He is also part of ITV's new show, Celebrity Sabotage.
A dedicated website for Survivor holds the message: 'As things stand, we are not processing or taking any further applications at this time.'

Emmerdale makes embarrassing social media blunder – and it involves sister soap Coronation Street

EMMERDALE made a rather embarrassing social media blunder - and it involved their sister soap Coronation Street. The soaps both air on ITV during the week, and are both filmed up north. 3 Emmerdale made an embarrassing social media blunder with this photo Credit: Instgram 3 The picture was of Corrie characters Abi and Carl - so had been posted to the wrong ITV soap account Credit: ITV Advertisement 3 The pair are having a steamy affair on the soap Credit: ITV However, in a social media blunder, ITV posted a picture on Emmerdale's Instagram account, that was teasing a Coronation Street story. Realising their mistake, the photo was removed and reposted on the Corrie handle instead. The picture was of mechanic Abi, played by Sally Carman-Duttine, and her brother-in-law Carl (Jonathan Howard). Advertisement The two characters are embroiled in an affair, but things could be about to change after they were captured on camera. Sally recently spoke about her character's dramas on the cobbles, including her secret fling with her brother-in-law. "It's complete lust at first sight," Sally told Ok!. "There's that undeniable chemistry – it's palpable. They just click. It was an instant attraction – they bounced off each other and it reignites something in Abi that's been dormant for ages. Advertisement "She's an addict and this gives her a thrill. It's a different kind of thrill, but it's exhilarating for her." Meanwhile, in real life actress Sally is actually happily married to a fellow Corrie star. In the same interview, she opened up about why working with her husband on the soap is a nightmare. But she said in a recent interview that she would happily never work with him again if she could help it. Advertisement 'I'd be very happy never to have a scene with him ever again,' she joked. 'I love Joe to bits, but I don't like working with him – I'm never going to like working with him." Sally added: "Bless him, we've got very different work processes – let's just put it like that. I like to come fully prepared and he likes to flesh it out on the floor." "Also, he's very funny. I'm such a giggler and once I've gone, I'm gone. It's terrible and even if people get annoyed about it, it doesn't help." She continued: "He absolutely makes me howl with laughter and he does it on purpose. I get cross with him because he knows the situation, but he can't help himself.' Patrick Kielty speaks out for first time since announcing split from Cat Deeley

The world of showbiz was left in shock after Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley announced their separation after 13 years of marriage last month. After drawing some unwanted attention earlier this year when This Morning host Cat didn't attend her mother-in-law's funeral, the pair made a joint statement on the end of their marriage. They said in a joint statement to the PA news agency: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.' Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty. Pic: Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. 'There will be no further comment.' Both Patrick and Cat have been silent on social media, with Cat having been spotted on holiday in Spain. They have also not appeared on TV since the announcement, with them both being on break from The Late Late Show and This Morning. Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley. Pic: Stuart C. Wilson/Getty Images However, Patrick broke his silence on Saturday morning as he returned to his BBC Radio 5 show for the first time since the split. The Co Down native did not acknowledge the separation, instead joking about being overlooked for the role of Match of the Day host. He said: 'It's lovely to be back. We are coming to you from sunny Belfast, and we've got Michael Andrew looking after things here. We've got Sammy and Craig looking after things in London. Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley. Pic: Back Page Images/Shutterstock 'It takes a village, folks, to make this show sound so average, but it is not just me who is back. Oh no, what is this? It is a little welcome back letter from the head of the BBC.' Patrick then jokingly read: 'Dear Mr Kielty, thank you so much for your application to be a host on Match of the Day. 'Unfortunately, every other host employed by the BBC is currently working hosting on this show; therefore, we don't need your services. Don't call us, we will call you, Tim Davie.' He added: 'Thanks for that, Tim, I shouldn't have read that out on air.' It comes as recently revealed that Kielty is understood to be eyeing up a move back to Northern Ireland to 'regroup' after the breakdown of his marriage. It also comes ahead of this year's season of The Late Late Show, with sources telling us that 'planning' for this season is already underway, in efforts to boost the previous year's ratings. An insider told us: 'Pat is a bit all over the place at the moment, as anyone naturally would be. 'He recently lost his mother, now his marriage to Cat has ended, and the Late Late Show hasn't exactly been the ratings winner that he would have hoped.' 'So there is talk that he is strongly contemplating coming back to Ireland, at least for a while.'
