June 7 - The Atlanta Braves designated nine-time All-Star reliever Craig Kimbrel for assignment on Saturday.
Kimbrel, 37, made his season debut Friday night and allowed one hit in a scoreless seventh inning in Atlanta's 5-4, 10-inning loss at San Francisco. The right-hander had one walk and one strikeout and threw 14 pitches.
Kimbrel, who began his career in Atlanta in 2010, was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett prior to Friday's game against the Giants. He signed a minor league deal with the Braves in March.
Kimbrel led the National League in saves in four straight seasons with the Braves from 2011-14.
He ranks fifth all-time with 440 saves and has a 2.59 ERA in 838 career games (no starts) over 16 seasons with eight teams.
Atlanta recalled left-hander Austin Cox, 28, from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding transaction. He last pitched in the majors with the Kansas City Royals in 2023.

Holmes (7-3) allowed one run on nine hits with no walks and six strikeouts for the Mets, who won for the 11th time in their last 14 games and moved a season-high 17 games above .500. Ryan McMahon homered for Colorado, which lost its second straight following a three-game winning streak. The Rockies went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor returned to the starting lineup for the first time since suffering a broken right pinky toe on Wednesday and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases. Brandon Nimmo added two hits and two RBIs, and Luis Torrens drove in two runs. Mauricio gave the Mets a 1-0 lead with a leadoff homer in the third inning against German Marquez (2-8). The 456-foot blast was Mauricio's third career homer and first since being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. McMahon tied the game when he began the fourth inning with his seventh home run and first since May 11. New York regained the lead with two runs in the fifth inning. Young connected on Marquez's first pitch of the inning for his second homer before Mauricio singled and stole second base. Maurcio advanced to third on Lindor's groundout and scored on Nimmo's single to left field. The Mets extended their lead to 4-1 in the sixth inning on McNeil's leadoff homer. The 414-shot was McNeil's fourth homer this season. Marquez allowed four runs on eight hits over five-plus innings. He walked three and struck out three. New York scored three runs in the seventh on Tyrone Taylor's sacrifice fly and Torrens' two-run single. The Mets tacked on another run in the eighth on Nimmo's RBI double. The Rockies fell to 12-52 after forcing Holmes to work in and out of trouble in the early innings. June 8 - Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez left Saturday night's game against the host Los Angeles Angels in the third inning after getting hit in the right ankle area by a 98.1 mph liner by teammate Randy Arozarena while attempting to steal third base. A two-time All-Star, Rodriguez had singled to lead off the inning and stole second base in the game in Anaheim, Calif. After Cal Raleigh struck out, Arozarena hit an infield single that struck Rodriguez. Rodriguez, who was 2-for-2 with one run, had to be helped back to the dugout by Mariners vice president of high performance and medical Rob Scheidegger and assistant athletic trainer Kevin Orloski. Seattle failed to score in the inning with the game tied 4-4. The 24-year-old Rodriguez was replaced in center field by Leody Taveras. 'Hello folks,' the Pittsburgh Steelers great said in Saratoga during the traditional 'Riders Up' call. 'On behalf Fox Sports and the millions of thoroughbred racing fans around the world. Welcome to the 137th running of the Belmont Stakes.' The 76-year-old Louisiana native then gave the 'Riders Up' command and the race began shortly thereafter, with Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty outpacing Preakness victor Journalism for the victory. Despite the exciting race, many were instead focused on Bradshaw's gaffe. 'Terry Bradshaw is a legend, but on the set with 32 mins before the third jewel of the Triple Crown is a choice,' one critic wrote on X. Another added: 'Fox Sports broadcast of the Belmont is a joke with Terry Bradshaw.'
