vivo starts teasing the T4R 5G, reveals its thinness
The T4R will be "India's slimmest quad-curved display phone", which is one of those incredibly specific claims brands love to make in the Indian market. Thankfully, vivo has also revealed just how thin the T4R is: 7.39mm.
Obviously, it will have a quad-curved screen, which is shown in the image below. As the huge text on top of it says, we should be finding out more about the T4R soon enough, as the company will probably keep teasing aspects of it over the next few days and weeks ahead of its launch.
Interestingly, the T4R's camera island seems to be similar to that of the iQOO Z10R, which is getting official on July 24. This may hint at a rebranding of the same device, but it could also just be a similar design and nothing else, only time will tell.

vivo still leads the Indian smartphone market in the first half of 2025
vivo led the Indian smartphone market with 8.1 million shipments and a 21% share of the pie, according to new data released by the analysts at Canalys today. Its shipments have grown 31% over Q2 2024. It's followed by Samsung with 6.2 million shipments and a 16% market share, representing a 2% year-over-year (YoY) growth. In third is Oppo with 5 million shipments, a 13% market share, and 24% growth. Interestingly, the brands in fourth and fifth positions have both seen negative annual growth. Xiaomi managed 5 million shipments in Q2 this year with a 13% market share, and it's down 25% YoY, while fifth-place Realme shipped 3.6 million units for a 9% market share, down 17% from the year-ago quarter. The market overall grew 7% for a total of 39 million units shipped, up from 36.4 million in Q2 2024. The Indian smartphone market hasn't seen more shipments than in this Q2 since Q3 of last year, which is also the last time we saw any year-on-year growth. Canalys Principal Analyst Sanyam Chaurasia says vivo's V50 series "gained traction in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities via large-format retail and wedding-led campaigns, while the Y-series sustained momentum in smaller cities and semi-urban markets through deep distribution and promoter push". Meanwhile, "the T-series also scaled steadily online with a broadened portfolio". Oppo's strong quarter was "buoyed by strong offline momentum from the A5 series and growing online traction via the K13". If you're wondering where Apple is - it was sixth, with the iPhone 16 family accounting for more than 55% of its shipments. Interestingly, the iPhone 16e has lost momentum post-launch, "as consumers questioned the value of its single-camera design and largely unrealized Apple Intelligence features". Canalys projects a small decline in shipments for the full year, "as structural demand challenges persist". Source

Flip who? Galaxy Z Fold 7 finally winning more hearts – and pre-orders
Samsung recently pulled the curtain back on its latest foldables – the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. And even though the phones are still in the pre-order phase, the early numbers are already speaking volumes. Trade-in $999 99 $2119 99 $1120 off (53%) Pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Samsung and grab a free storage upgrade on the 512GB model. On top of that, you can save an extra up to $1,000 with eligible device trade-ins. Alternatively, you can get the phone with a $300 Samsung Credit. Pre-order at Samsung Trade-in $499 99 $1219 99 $720 off (59%) Pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at Samsung and save $120 as a free storage upgrade on the 512GB variant. On top of that, you'll save up to $600 with eligible device trade-ins. Alternatively, you can get it with a $150 Samsung Credit. Pre-order at Samsung In India, the new Z series is gaining serious traction, even getting close to the pre-order numbers of the flagship Galaxy S25 lineup, which is a pretty big deal for foldables. Meanwhile, there is a surprise coming from Samsung's home turf – South Korea, too. For years, the Galaxy Z Flip models have consistently dominated the company's foldable sales, pulling in the majority of pre-orders every year. That's been the pattern… until now. According to a new report, 2025 is flipping the script. For the first time ever, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is getting more pre-orders than the Flip 7 in South Korea. The numbers say it all: the Fold 7 is reportedly pulling 60% of pre-orders, while the Flip 7 sits at 40%. Compare that to last year, when the Galaxy Z Flip 6 had the 60% share and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 lagged behind at 40%. Go back one more year and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 was at 70% while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 only grabbed 30%. So what changed? Well, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 isn't just another refresh – it's a major step up. And even though Samsung bumped up the price this year, it clearly hasn't scared people off. In fact, it seems like more buyers are now ready to jump on the book-style foldable train and the Z Fold 7 might be the one that finally convinces them it's worth it. Video credit – PhoneArena The Fold 7 brings real upgrades to the table: it adopts the 200 MP camera from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it sports a larger foldable inner display, and the outer screen now has a much more usable 21:9 aspect ratio. At 6.5 inches, it actually feels like a normal smartphone when closed, which wasn't always the case with previous models. Add in all the Galaxy AI features and Samsung's promise of 7 years of OS and security updates and it's no wonder the Z Fold 7 is suddenly grabbing more attention than ever. This could very well be the turning point where the book-style foldable finally outshines the Flip when it comes to sales numbers.
