Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey is due to appear in court charged with raping two women.
The midfielder faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following alleged offences between 2021 and 2022, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.
The 32-year-old is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, previously said he 'denies all the charges against him', adding he welcomed 'the opportunity to finally clear his name'.
The Ghanaian international was charged four days after leaving the North London club when his contract expired at the end of June.
Partey, of Hertfordshire, is accused of two counts of rape against one woman and three counts of rape against another.
The sexual assault allegation relates to a third woman, according to the CPS.
The Metropolitan Police said it first received reports of an allegation of rape in February 2022.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a transfer worth around £45 million.
The defensive midfielder signed for the Spanish club in 2012 and made 188 appearances, as well as going out on loan to Mallorca and Leganes.
He played 35 games for the north London club in the Premier League last season, scoring four goals.
Partey has also made more than 50 appearances for Ghana – including at the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.
An Arsenal spokesperson previously said: 'The player's contract ended on June 30. Due to ongoing legal proceedings the club is unable to comment on the case.'

Former Arsenal player Thomas Partey granted conditional bail

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing in court on rape and sexual assault charges. The Ghanaian midfielder, 32, has been charged with five counts of rape against two women, as well as a charge of sexual assault against a third woman. The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022, when he was an Arsenal player. Partey stood with his arms behind his back in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, wearing a black zip-neck jumper. The footballer, who gave his address as Potters Bar, showed no reaction as the charges were read out and was not asked to enter any pleas. The alleged offences include incidents of anal rape, the court heard. His bail conditions include that he cannot contact any of the three women and must notify police of any permanent changes of address or international travel. It comes amid reports that Partey is set to join Spanish club Villarreal. As bail conditions were discussed in court, Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring said: 'I understand he's no longer employed in this country and playing in Spain now.' Partey is due to appear at the Old Bailey on September 2. He was charged four days after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the end of June. A spokeswoman for Arsenal Supporters Against Sexual Violence said they were 'profoundly disappointed' in the north London club for their handling of the matter. Speaking outside court, Honor Barber told the PA news agency: 'We never wanted to be in a situation where the club that we love and the club that has values that we believe in was playing, week-in week-out, a player who is now facing court appearances on six counts of sexual violence. 'We protested outside almost every home game last season because we wanted to disrupt the wall of silence that the club has put up around this issue, and we did that because we want to support our club and feel happy and comfortable supporting our club.' Members of the group held a banner which read 'Arsenal said: 'We do the right thing' then did nothing'. Ms Barber said the group wanted Arsenal to publish their sexual violence policies, 'suspend anyone under investigation for sexual offences' and 'properly support the survivors'. The Metropolitan Police said it first received reports of an allegation of rape in February 2022. Partey's lawyer Jenny Wiltshire previously said he 'denies all the charges against him', adding he welcomed 'the opportunity to finally clear his name'. He joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a transfer worth around £45 million. Third Premier League club joins race for Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling's future lies away from Chelsea and there is no shortage of interest in him, with three Premier League clubs in the race for his signature. The 30-year-old was axed from the first team at Stamford Bridge a year ago, informed that he was no longer in contention to play under manager Enzo Maresca. The England international secured an ideal move across London to join Arsenal, but that season-long deal did not work out brilliantly. Sterling made little impact with the Gunners, scoring just one goal in the Carabao Cup, and there was no interest from the north London club in making the move permanent. Now back at Chelsea but not training with the first team, the Blues are very keen to get rid of him and the winger wants to find somewhere to play. TalkSPORT report that three Premier League clubs hold an interest in the former Liverpool and Manchester City star, with West Ham joining Crystal Palace and Fulham in considering a move. With Sterling reportedly keen to stay in London, he appears very likely to get his wish, although any deal is made somewhat complicated by the player's huge wages. The 82-cap England international reportedly earns £325,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, an amount which will not be covered by any of the interested Premier League clubs. Juventus have also been credited with an interest in Sterling, but staying in the Premier League remains the most likely outcome. The likes of Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi are in the same situation as Sterling at Chelsea, banished from first team activities and are hoping to secure moves away as soon as possible. Rio Ferdinand gives verdict on Mikel Arteta transfer activity after decision to splash £48.5m

Mikel Arteta raised a few eyebrows this summer when he made Chelsea star Noni Madueke one of his top targets, but Rio Ferdinand has defended the Arsenal boss over the signing of the 23-year-old Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has backed Mikel Arteta's decision to splash out £48.5 million on England star Noni Madueke. Madueke joined the Gunners from Chelsea last month to a mixed reaction from Arsenal supporters. ‌ While plenty welcomed him to the club, some were left disappointed by the 23-year-old's arrival, with one fan even setting up an online petition branded as #NOTOMADUEKE. ‌ While many other supporters condemned the petition, it ultimately gathered thousands of signatures as some fans seemed opposed to the club seeking out another winger before locking down a new striker. Since Madueke, 23, joined the club, Arsenal have also finally secured the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP in a £63.7 million deal, following a drawn out transfer saga. ‌ Discussing Arsenal's summer acquisitions with Joel Beya on the ex-United defender's podcast, Rio Ferdinand Presents, Ferdinand praised the signing of Madueke, claiming the player was a victim of circumstance by simply coming in through the door ahead of Gyokeres. "[Martin] Zubimendi has come in, you lost Thomas Partey (released), Jorginho (signed for Flamengo) gone, that's two midfielders you've there. [Kieran, joined Celtic] Tierney, [Nuno, joined Lazio] Tavares gone... a lot was made about Madueke as well," Ferdinand said. "I think he's a good signing, he's a little bit off the cuff. He gives you something different, and I know what people are saying, yes it's Chelsea, and you've done a lot of business that's not gone so well with Chelsea, and two, [the Arsenal ] fanbase wanted a number nine. "So if you had signed Gyokeres before Madueke, I don't think people are shouting as much." Ferdinand added: "I think Madueke has got a high ceiling. I think he can go places, do well. I think he's a really good addition." Discussing just where Madueke, a winger who can operate on both flanks, will fit into Arteta's plans, Ferdinand believes he can operate as an understudy for Bukayo Saka and challenge Gabriel Martinelli on the left. ‌ "Now [Arsenal] have got a number nine, Madueke on the left makes sense," he said. "Because he can go on the outside and cross the ball, you've got a number nine with presence in the box who can finish things off so I think it makes sense in many ways now. I think there's a clearer playing style at Arsenal that might suit him." Ferdinand was also on hand to praise Arsenal's capture of Gyokeres, yet did sound a warning over a stat that demonstrated how the Swedish striker operated somewhat as a flat-track bully in Portugal's top division last year. ‌ Gyokeres clinched the golden boot In the Primeira Liga last season with 39 goals, while Sporting won a second successive title. However, he only scored twice in eight league games against Benfica, who finished in second, Porto who finished third and against Braga and Santa Clara, who ended up fourth and fifth respectively. "That would be a flag for me," Ferdinand said on Gyokeres' record. "I don't think it would determine if I'd take him, but it would be something where I'd go, 'Let me just look back further down the line' - and then what's the reason? "There are question marks, but I just feel, for Arsenal, he's going to get so many more looks on goal, I don't think it's a big gamble for Arsenal. As long as he doesn't go looking for football outside the box too much. Stay in and around the penalty box and the ball will come."
