Former Arsenal player Thomas Partey granted conditional bail
The Ghanaian midfielder, 32, has been charged with five counts of rape against two women, as well as a charge of sexual assault against a third woman.
The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022, when he was an Arsenal player.
Partey stood with his arms behind his back in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, wearing a black zip-neck jumper.
The footballer, who gave his address as Potters Bar, showed no reaction as the charges were read out and was not asked to enter any pleas.
The alleged offences include incidents of anal rape, the court heard.
His bail conditions include that he cannot contact any of the three women and must notify police of any permanent changes of address or international travel.
It comes amid reports that Partey is set to join Spanish club Villarreal.
As bail conditions were discussed in court, Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring said: 'I understand he's no longer employed in this country and playing in Spain now.'
Partey is due to appear at the Old Bailey on September 2.
He was charged four days after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the end of June.
A spokeswoman for Arsenal Supporters Against Sexual Violence said they were 'profoundly disappointed' in the north London club for their handling of the matter.
Speaking outside court, Honor Barber told the PA news agency: 'We never wanted to be in a situation where the club that we love and the club that has values that we believe in was playing, week-in week-out, a player who is now facing court appearances on six counts of sexual violence.
'We protested outside almost every home game last season because we wanted to disrupt the wall of silence that the club has put up around this issue, and we did that because we want to support our club and feel happy and comfortable supporting our club.'
Members of the group held a banner which read 'Arsenal said: 'We do the right thing' then did nothing'.
Ms Barber said the group wanted Arsenal to publish their sexual violence policies, 'suspend anyone under investigation for sexual offences' and 'properly support the survivors'.
The Metropolitan Police said it first received reports of an allegation of rape in February 2022.
Partey's lawyer Jenny Wiltshire previously said he 'denies all the charges against him', adding he welcomed 'the opportunity to finally clear his name'.
He joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a transfer worth around £45 million.
The defensive midfielder signed for the Spanish club in 2012 and made 188 appearances, as well as going out on loan to Mallorca and Leganes.
He played 35 games for the north London club in the Premier League last season, scoring four goals.
Partey has also made more than 50 appearances for Ghana including at the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.
An Arsenal spokesperson previously said: 'The player's contract ended on June 30. Due to ongoing legal proceedings the club is unable to comment on the case.'

When asked about Arsenal's title chances on the Rest is Football podcast, Richards recalled his thoughts from last year: 'It's a hard one because I remember saying last season that I thought Manchester City had won it if everyone stayed fit. If [City] got any injuries, those little injuries could be the difference. 'Bringing in Gyokeres now for Arsenal is massive. And not just because he's a big-name forward. Because of his movement that we talk about with strikers all the time. Havertz is really good, we're all big fans of Havertz, but in a number 10 position where he can create, not leading the line. 'I know [Havertz has] done really good movement when he plays up there but he hasn't got a striker's instinct. So that's why I think Gyokeres is gonna add something really special. 'I still don't know if it's enough to get them over the line. I still don't know. I think one or two injuries and they're back to the same as last season. So I'm going to say challenging but not champions.' Despite working on their squad depth, Richards does not trust that Arsenal's title bid would survive injuries to some of their key players. Premier League legend Alan Shearer also believes that the Gunners will end the upcoming season with a familiar feeling. 'I'd agree. I think they'll challenge, I just think they may fall short again,' Shearer said. 'I like all of their signings. I think that's exactly what they needed. And I still don't think they may be finished yet in terms of bringing players in and certainly players going out. 'I've definitely got them in Champions League but I just don't see them having enough to win the title. Just fall short.' Meanwhile, Lineker agreed with his colleagues that Arsenal will fall short in the title race, pointing out that the club are relying on Gyokeres instantly adapting to the Premier League, though the striker recently impressed in a pre-season win over Athletic Bilbao. The Gunners face a daunting challenge to overcome reigning champions Liverpool, who have made several high-profile moves during the summer. Lineker admitted: 'I think I concur with both of you on that front. I probably wouldn't have said that if it wasn't that Liverpool have strengthened so well. 'A lot too will depend on how Gyokeres does. I mean he scored a terrific goal in pre-season but we all know pre-season is not that important. Although, it is for a striker in terms of that feeling of hitting the back of the net. 'So I think a lot will depend on him but we know he'll get good service. I think they could go close again but I'm going to agree with both of you.'

The 2025 International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football European Championships will be held at Loughborough University from August 13 to 23. The Para Lions have been drawn in Group One along with defending champions Ukraine, Spain and Northern Ireland, with Andy Smith's 14-man squad set to be based at St George's Park throughout the competition. The 28-year-old from Oxfordshire, who is left-sided hemiplegic and more affected in his leg, had been playing mainstream football growing up before being scouted by the Northampton Pan-Disability team when he was 12. Baker progressed through to the England Under-21 development team and then, not long after he had turned 16, was called-up into the senior national squad. The Football Association's England Para Talent Pathway runs from grassroots through to elite level, offering support and direction for players with specific impairments however far their own journey may take them. 'I am very fortunate as I this is my 13th year at international level, after I found it (pan-disability football) at such an early stage,' Baker told the PA news agency. 'But there are others (in the England squad) who found it a lot later and they have missed out on some opportunities to play and represent their country. Brit beaten and mugged for Rolex in front of wife and screaming child in Majorca
A British man was beaten and had his watch stolen in front of his wife and daughter by a lurking gang in Majorca. Spanish police are now investigating the incident Police are investigating after a British tourist was beaten and mugged for his £40,000 Rolex watch in front of his wife and daughter in Majorca. The Brit, 44, was attacked in the resort of Port d'Andratx in the south-west of the island during an evening stroll that took place after a meal at a luxury hotel. It is thought the man had been watched for hours by an organised gang following repeated warnings about Rolex thefts in both Majorca, other Spanish holiday islands and the mainland. The violent robbery, which saw three people get out of a car and snatch the watch, is being investigated by the Spanish Civil Guard. It comes after a warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain. "The man, together with his partner and their young daughter, was walking quietly in the area after having dinner in a luxury restaurant,' Spanish newspaper reported. 'Suddenly a car stopped nearby and three men with their faces covered came out of it and went directly to them. Between all of them they held the Briton and in a few seconds, and despite the resistance of the injured party, they stole the valuable watch he was wearing on one of his wrists.' The man's frightened daughter began to scream during the attack, which alerted hotel staff, and patrols from the Local Police of Andratx and the Civil Guard appeared at the scene within minutes. By then, the alleged criminals had already raced away from the scene after getting back in their vehicle with the watch. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV at different points in the Port d'Andratx area in a bid to identify the thugs. Police have also interviewed a number of witnesses. Sources close to the investigation say the gang had almost certainly watched the family for a number of hours before they struck. The extent of the British man's injuries is not yet known. It comes after Brits heading on holiday to Spain this summer were warned by police about a crime wave hitting all-inclusive hotels. Police have told tourists to be on their guard after a sudden increase in thefts and robberies from individuals and gangs who are targeting these types of locations. Authorities say that although all-inclusive hotels provide a wide variety of services but "safety is not usually among them." Through a video published on its official TikTok account, the Spanish National Police have issued an alert that highlights "a common and dangerous practice among tourists": neglecting their belongings while enjoying the pools and beaches of hotels. 'It is essential to remember that travelling to an all-inclusive hotel does not expressly guarantee protection for your personal effects in common areas such as the pool. Therefore, although it is a period to relax and disconnect, it is advisable to stay in control and take measures to avoid unpleasant situations that can spoil your holiday," say the police. Thefts tend to increase especially on summer holidays in destinations such as the Costa del Sol, the Costa Blanca, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, where the influx of tourists skyrockets and security measures can be overwhelmed on certain occasions.
