NEW DELHI: Congress leader
Rahul Gandhi
on Saturday launched one of his strongest attacks yet on the
Election Commission
, declaring that the country's election system is 'already dead' and alleging that the recent Lok Sabha elections were rigged.
"The truth is that the election system in India is already dead. The Prime Minister of India is the Prime Minister of India with a very slim majority... If 15 seats were rigged, he would not have been the Prime Minister of India," Gandhi said while speaking at the Annual Legal Conclave- 2025 in New Delhi.
He added, "We are going to prove to you in the coming few days how a Lok Sabha election can be rigged and was rigged."
Holding up a copy of the Constitution of India, Gandhi said, "It's very clear that the institution that holds this and protects this has been obliterated and taken over."
Sharpening his criticism of the Election Commission, he said, "We have such proof that will show the whole country that the institution of the Election Commission does not exist. It has disappeared."
"It has taken us 6 months of non-stop work to find this proof... You will see with zero doubt how a Lok Sabha election is stolen. 6.5 lakh voters vote and 1.5 lakh of those voters are fake," Gandhi claimed.
"You will see the shockwave that is going to go through the electoral system when we release this data.
It is literally like an atom bomb," he added.
Gandhi also said he had long suspected irregularities in elections since 2014. "I've been speaking recently about the election system. I always had a suspicion that there was something wrong, right from 2014. I had a suspicion in the Gujarat Assembly elections already. This ability to win sweeping victories. Congress Party doesn't get a single seat in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat.
This was surprising to me.
.."
"Whenever we spoke, people said, 'where's the proof'? Then, something happened in Maharashtra. In the Lok Sabha, we won the election. And then 4 months later, we didn't just lose, we were obliterated (in Maharashtra assembly elections). Three formidable parties suddenly just evaporated. We started to look seriously for electoral malpractice. We found it in Maharashtra, 1 crore new voters show up between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.
The bulk of those votes go to the BJP... Now I say with absolutely no doubt that we have proof (of cheating)," Gandhi said.
Earlier, on Friday also Rahul Gandhi claimed to have "open and shut" evidence of alleged poll irregularities by the poll authority and said that it would have no place to hide.
"Most importantly, whoever in the Elections Commission is involved in this exercise, right from top to bottom, we will not spare you.
You are working against India and this no less than treason. Wherever you are, even if you are retired, we will find you," said the Lok Sabha LoP.
"The Election Commission ignores such baseless allegations being made on a daily basis, and despite the daily threats being given, asks all election officials to ignore such irresponsible statements and work in a fair and transparent manner," the EC had said on Friday in response to the comments made by Gandhi, as quoted by PTI.

BJP MP Ravi Kishan: ‘Samosa matters to people. Elites don't get rustic humour'

Last week, actor and BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Ravi Kishan, cited the example of samosas during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha while speaking about non-uniform food pricing at various places. Kishan also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to regulate the prices and quantity of food items in eateries ranging from dhabhas to five-star hotels. In an interview with The Indian Express, he speaks about various aspects of this matter. Excerpts: *You raised the issue of standardisation of food items and prices. What was it about? I come from Gorakhpur, where 98% of voters are poor. Parliament has been not functioning properly due to the ruckus over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. I am an artiste, and hence I am sensitive to people's issues. I have seen poverty, found bad oil in my food while eating out and spoilt my throat. In Europe and America, information like the kind of oil used in the food is mentioned (on the packaging). *You spoke at length about samosas… Since I am an artiste, I use humour. Elites do not understand rustic humour. It is an issue that matters to people. I understand that samosa matters to them. Even Rs 10 spent on food matters. I understand this, as in my student days I made Rs 1,300 a month by delivering newspapers. Though a few people and the Opposition's IT cell are mocking me, I use the language that connects with the people and that is why I win with big margins. The people who mock me did not see that I also raised issues like drugs or was rooting for inclusion of Bhojpuri in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. *What do you think the size of samosas must be? People want to know what the food they are eating contains. They want to know what the size or quantity of the food item that they buy is. Be it a dhaba or a five-star hotel, everyone should be accountable. Currently, five dhabas on the same road are selling the same food item at different prices. Ever since my video has gone viral, people from across the country are messaging me with more such problems. *How did you come up with the idea of raising this issue? It has been on my mind for a while. I wanted to raise it but was not getting an opportunity during the Zero Hour. The other day, when the Speaker (Om Birla) allowed Zero Hour and allowed around 200 MPs to speak, I got my chance and started speaking. The matter has become an issue of debate now. *How do you plan to take this forward? I am from the ruling party so I will not talk openly about what the government must do. I am doing my homework. I will meet the minister concerned and discuss the remedy. It is a matter related to public health.

We are getting good results from this scheme," Mandaviya said. Live Events Employment-linked incentive scheme, PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), is rolled out from August 1, 2025. The scheme, aimed at incentivising job creation in the country, was approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier. With an outlay of Rs 99,446 crore, the PMVBRY aims to incentivise the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over two years. Of these, 1.92 crore will go to freshers. The benefits of the scheme will apply to jobs created between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027. The scheme, Mandaviya said, forms a crucial part of India's strategy to accelerate economic growth. It consists of two parts, with Part A focused on first-timers and Part B focused on employers. Part-A will offer a one-month EPF wage up to Rs 15,000 in two instalments. Employees with salaries up to Rs 1 lakh will be eligible. The first instalment will be payable after six months of service, and the second will be payable after 12 months and completion of a financial literacy programme by the employee. A portion of the incentive will be kept in a savings instrument or deposit account for a fixed period and can be withdrawn by the employee at a later date. The Centre will incentivise employers, with up to Rs 3,000 per month, for two years, for each additional employee with sustained employment for at least six months. For the manufacturing sector, incentives will be extended to the third and fourth years as well. Establishments registered with EPFO will be required to hire at least two additional employees (for employers with less than 50 employees) or five additional employees (for employers with 50 or more employees), on a sustained basis for at least six months. All payments to the first-time employees under Part A of the Scheme will be made through the DBT ( Direct Benefit Transfer ) mode using the Aadhar Bridge Payment System (ABPS). Payments to the Employers under Part B will be made directly into their PAN-linked Accounts.
