Winnipeg cops search for details about Selkirk Avenue machete attack
Officers were called to the 800 block of Selkirk Avenue that afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., where they found the man in critical condition outside a convenience store. He was rushed to hospital and later upgraded to stable.
Const. Dani McKinnon told 680 CJOB police believe the victim was with a teenage girl at the time of the attack, and that the suspect asked the pair for money, then attacked the man and rode off on a BMX-style bike.

The suspect is believed to have been wearing a black backpack and a baseball cap that may have had a New York Yankees logo.
'The victim was unexpectedly attacked with what is believed to be a machete or a machete-type weapon,' McKinnon said.

'The suspect was believed to have ridden off on the bike — last seen riding down Selkirk toward Main Street.'

Man charged in 2 Vancouver stranger assaults, 1 involving tourist
Police say a man is facing charges after two people were randomly assaulted in downtown Vancouver over the weekend, including a tourist from Germany. The incidents happened around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday near Granville and West Pender streets. Winnipeg police investigate 5-vehicle Monday morning crash on Ellice Avenue
Two people are in hospital after a five-vehicle crash in the West End Monday morning, Winnipeg police say. Officers were called to the scene after an incident around 9 a.m., when four vehicles stopped at a red light on Ellice Avenue and Banning Street and were hit from behind by a 2007 Nissan Qashqai, police said, causing significant damage to all of the vehicles involved. The Nissan driver, a man in his 70s, and a woman who was a passenger in his vehicle were taken to hospital in unstable condition, although they were later upgraded to stable. Police said none of the other people involved in the crash had injuries severe enough to end them to hospital.
