Chiefs' Kingsley Suamataia to compete for starting left guard spot with Mike Caliendo
Well, head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Monday and said Kingsley Suamataia and Mike Caliendo will compete for the left guard spot in training camp.

Suamataia spent most of his rookie season at left tackle, where he struggled. The switch to guard could be much more beneficial. He started at left guard in the Chiefs last regular season game last season against the Denver Broncos, in which he fared well.
'When we brought [Sumataia] in, we knew he had that flexibility, we just felt that way athletically. He is a very good athlete, he can run and he can pass block, do all the things that he needs to do,' Reid said.
'He'll start [at guard] with Mike Caliendo. They'll compete for that spot.'
Thuney got a majority of snaps at left guard last season before moving to left tackle to close out the season. He was traded to the Chicago Bears in March.

The Chiefs signed former San Francisco 49ers left tackle Jaylon Moore to hopefully give them a long-term answer at the position.

They are looking to revamp an offensive line that struggled immensely against Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIV.
The starting offensive line could be Trey Smith, Creed Humphrey, Moore, Jawaan Taylor and Suamataia or Caliendo going into next season. They could also look for someone to challenge for a starting spot in the draft.

Mekhi Becton back at practice for Chargers
There was a positive development for the Chargers offensive line on Tuesday. Reporters at the team's practice shared images of right guard Mekhi Becton in uniform and on the field with his teammates. Becton had missed the last several weeks of practice with an undisclosed injury and there was little indication from the team's coaches about when he'd back. The timing of Becton's return bodes well for the likelihood that he'll be in the lineup in Brazil against the Chiefs on the first Friday of the regular season. The Chargers signed Becton to a two-year contract after he started for the Eagles in their Super Bowl win over Kansas City. Assuming Becton is good to go, the only change to the Chargers' desired starting line will be the absence of left tackle Rashawn Slater. Slater is out for the season with a knee injury, so Joe Alt is moving over from right tackle and Trey Pipkins is in line to start next to Becton.

The NFL MVP award has crystallized this concept over the past decade, forcing oddsmakers to evolve and leaving foolish bettors throwing good money after bad bets. The saga began in 2018, when Patrick Mahomes took the league by storm in his first full season as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback. The overnight sensation won the MVP, after having odds in the neighborhood of 100/1 the previous summer. Sure enough, the very next season Lamar Jackson did the exact same thing for the Baltimore Ravens. He, too, began the year with 100/1 odds and ultimately hoisted the award. This outlier two-year stretch disrupted what had become a predictable trend of established quarterbacks. However, normalcy was promptly restored, as Aaron Rodgers then went back-to-back for his third and fourth MVPs in Green Bay. But some bettors are still hoping to catch lightning in a similar bottle this season. DraftKings head oddsmaker Johnny Avello has seen significant action on Justin Fields of the New York Jets (200/1) and Shedeur Sanders of the Cleveland Browns (150/1). 'This is all early money and speculation. It's guys with high odds and people taking a shot,' Avello said. 'They're only taking prices that will be long gone if guys start out well.' I would classify those as reckless wagers and 'dead money'. Now, I might have said the same thing in 2018 and 2019 about the eventual winners, but at least the industry has evolved since then, forming a tighter market. Oddsmakers have learned a great deal about creating odds for awards, which is very different from generating odds for actual games. 'I used to not like it but it's been really good because the odds have become much more sophisticated than they were in the beginning,' said SuperBook VP of Risk Management Ed Salmons, a veteran NFL oddsmaker. 'Just following it for the past eight years, it's easier to do now and it's a staple out there. It's definitely something we book every year, and for the most part, we do pretty well with it.' Essentially, oddsmakers have learned from their mistakes with Mahomes and Jackson. No longer will sportsbooks offer such long odds for a quarterback of a potentially high-powered offense. By comparison, QBs with longshot odds entering the 2025 season include Brock Purdy (25/1), Jared Goff (31/1), and Trevor Lawrence (40/1). The usual suspects are the betting favorites with Jackson leading the way with consensus +500 odds. Reigning MVP Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Mahomes are right behind at +600, while Jayden Daniels (+850) has entered the mix in just his second season. The shortest odds for any non-quarterback is Saquon Barkley with consensus 50/1 odds. He was a finalist last season with 2,005 rushing yards, the eighth-most in NFL history, but ultimately a quarterback won the MVP for the 12th straight year. Salmons firmly believes a quarterback will win MVP for the rest of time, given how pass-happy the NFL has become over the years. 'All leagues have gravitated toward the same stuff. A kicker (Mark Moseley) won in 1982. 6 Chiefs won't practice on Tuesday; Steve Spagnuolo weighs in
Ahead of their practice at their home facility at the Truman Sports Complex on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs listed six players who would not take the field due to injury or illness: linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee bruise), offensive lineman Ethan Driskell (appendectomy), safety Mike Edwards (hamstring), cornerback Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (ankle) and wide receiver Jalen Royals (knee). Late Monday afternoon, Kansas City placed defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah on the Reserve/Injured list. Even though he is practicing, cornerback Kristian Fulton has yet to play in a preseason game as he recovers from offseason knee surgery. 'Well, the unknown is Kristian right now because we haven't had him out there,' said defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. 'Jaylen [Watson] has missed some time, and now we've got [Johnson], who is a little dinged up. More than any group on the defense, that back end has to have a lot of continuity, and that comes with reps. So with a couple of different moving pieces, there's a little bit of concern there, so hopefully we can start to gel that together.' The Chiefs play their final game of the 2025 preseason against the Chicago Bears at home on Friday at 7:20 p.m. Arrowhead Time.
