Travis Kelce left NFL coaches thinking he was 'insane' after crying during meeting

Daily Maila day ago
Travis Kelce has revealed the moment he left NFL coaches stunned after crying in a meeting during the early stages of his career.
The NFL star recently sat down for an interview with GQ where he discussed everything from his on-field career to his off-field antics with girlfriend Taylor Swift.
Among that conversation, the Chiefs tight end opened up on the emotional moment he broke down in tears when trying to convince one team to take a chance on him.
Kelce revealed that, at 23-years-old, he met with Rob Chudzinski, then head coach of the Cleveland Browns, who Kelce and his brother were major fans of.
'I cried in Chud's office and said, 'I will f***ing die for this city!'. I literally was in tears,' Kelce revealed in the interview.
'I said, 'I'm sorry I'm getting emotional. I grew up down the street. I would f***ing do anything to play for the Cleveland Browns.'
'He looked at me like I was insane. I don't think he'd ever had somebody just pour out their emotions.'
In the end, the Browns - along with every team in the league until the third round of the 2013 draft - opted to pass on Kelce before he wound up at the Chiefs.
It proved to be the right decision from Kansas City, with Kelce going on to form a formidable part of their Super Bowl-winning teams in recent years.
Kelce has made five Super Bowl appearance with the Chiefs and picked up three rings during that time.
Elsewhere in the interview, Kelce opened up for the first time on the impact of the split between his parents, Donna and Ed, and revealed how it shapes his hopes for the future with Taylor Swift.
He recalled sensing his parents had drifted before what he thinks was their 20th wedding anniversary.
And in moving comments, he also underlined how much he wants to avoid that ever happening with Swift.
Kelce's latest interview comes amid a hugely exciting time for both him and his girlfriend
'I don't want to get this wrong, it had to be around 20 (20th wedding anniversary),' Kelce said, explaining that his parents' anniversary date had been marked down on a calendar in the Kelce family kitchen.
'I remember seeing it and I was like, 'Oh, it's their anniversary. I wonder what they're going to do.' And it was kind of just another day almost. Another day of knocking out things for the kids.
'I'm sure my father probably did something, he's always been very good at making sure we celebrate our mother when it's Mother's Day and all that.
'He still to this day will text, like, 'Hey, it's your mom's birthday coming up. Don't forget about it'. But I never saw the romance of it all.'

Jack Wilshere, 33, REJECTS Arsenal's offer of Under-21s manager as he holds out for first permanent senior role

JACK WILSHERE has opted against returning to Arsenal as an academy coach as he looks to pursue a senior manager role. The 33-year-old was previously the Gunners' U18s boss – guiding them to the FA Youth Cup final back in April 2023 before joining Norwich as an assistant coach in October 2024. 2 2 After leaving the Canaries by mutual consent back in April – having briefly been interim boss – Wilshere has been on the hunt for his next job, eyeing another EFL club to get his management career up and running. Arsenal are currently looking for a new U21s coach after losing Mehmet Ali to Brentford's backroom team, and Wilshere was approached for a Hale End return. Wilshere's role would have involved the U21s as well as a wider remit in player development. But now, Arsenal are believed to be close to permanently appointing Max Porter – the 39-year-old has been at the academy since 2017 and has been in interim charge of the U21s. Wilshere remains highly regarded by the Arsenal academy, especially in his role developing Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly before becoming first-team stars, as well as 15-year-old Max Dowman. Mikel Arteta enjoyed having Wilshere at the club to bridge the gap between Hale End and the seniors, with the latter spending time training with the first team. Wilshere made 197 appearances for Arsenal as a player between 2008 and 2018 before spells at Bournemouth, West Ham and Danish side Aarhus. He is no stranger to the youth setup at Arsenal, having come through the academy at the club after joining at the age of nine. Arsenal's transfer deals IN Viktor Gyökeres - from Sporting Lisbon - £72m Noni Madueke - from Chelsea - £52m Martin Zubimendi - from Real Sociedad - £51m Christian Norgaard - from Brentford - £15m Cristhian Mosquera - from Valencia - £13m Kepa Arrizabalaga - from Chelsea - £5m TOTAL - £208m OUT Nuno Taveres - to Lazio - £4.4m Marquinhos - to Cruzeiro - £2.6m Jorginho - to Flamengo - free Kieran Tierney - to Celtic - free Takehiro Tomiyasu - released Thomas Partey - released TOTAL - £7m He was once touted as one of Europe's most promising young stars when he became Arsenal's youngest-ever league debutant at age 16. But injury issues hampered his career development and, despite significant showings in the Champions League for Arsenal and his inclusion in England 's 2014 World Cup squad, he became one of the game's biggest 'what-ifs'.

Hulk Hogan's estranged daughter Brooke breaks down in tears amid heartbreak over his sudden death

Hulk Hogan 's estranged daughter Brooke got visibly emotional while out with her family in Orlando on Tuesday night following the recent and sudden loss of her dad. Just weeks after her father died of a heart attack at age 71, the TV personality, 37, looked caught up in grief as tears rolled down her face during a walk with her husband Steven Oleksy and their seven-month-old twins, Oliver and Molly. Oleksy, a retired ice hockey player, sweetly comforted his wife by wrapping his arm around her waist as he pushed their little ones' stroller down the sidewalk. Brooke, who went 'no contact' with both her parents prior to the WWE legend's passing, took a deep breath and placed her hand on his shoulder for support. An insider told TMZ that Brooke 'got emotional seeing the sunset' as it 'reminded her of her father.' 'She was telling her husband how much Hulk would have loved it,' the source claimed. Her latest sighting comes just days after Brooke opened up about her fallout from Hulk and that he never met her children. In an interview with TMZ, Brooke said she was uncomfortable with some of the people in Hulk's entourage, but pointed out that did not include his wife Sky Daily, 46. 'The estrangement is a boundary,' she explained, 'So I didn't like certain people he was around. It wasn't Sky, it was a number of people that I did not trust, that I had seen behavior in, and I said, "Dad, flashing yellow signs." Like, "Hey, this is messed up. Are you going to do anything about it?"' She explained that the six-time WWF champion was 'never alone. He was always with someone.' Brooke added that during one of their last conversations 'he gave the sentiment of like, "Well, I guess you have to live your life and I have to live mine."' 'That was kind of how it was left,' she said. Brooke also described a harsh interaction with her father, which was witnessed by a contractor working on a house for them. 'The contractor texted me — and said, "Are you OK, kid? That hurt me watching what I saw." My dad had become a little bit callous in his old age, and that's OK,' she explained. Oleksy, a retired ice hockey player, sweetly comforted his wife by wrapping his arm around her waist as he pushed their little ones' stroller down the sidewalk. Brooke reiterated several times that she had no issue with Hulk's widow, Sky, but did reveal the Thunder in Paradise star had some reservations about marrying again. 'If I broke up with her, it'd be bad,' he reportedly told Brooke, but when she asked why, he only answered 'I don't wanna get into it.' She said they had respectful disagreements via text regarding whether he should break up with Sky at one point telling her 'Well, I haven't approved of who you've dated.' Brooke revealed she thought his behavior was 'childish' and would make her cry. 'There were hurtful things that he kind of said,' she explained. To honor her father's memory, Brooke and her husband, former NHL star Steven Oleksy, 39, took their babies to the beach. Gene was the late wrestler's middle name. 'Daddy, we honored you in the simplest way that agreed with my soul. We took our babies to the beach, and put them in the same salty waters you loved,' she shared in an emotional post on social media. Brooke and Olesky married in a private ceremony in Orlando in June 2022. Her father was not in attendance. Earlier this month, Brooke's husband told People he remained in contact with Hulk and says he reached out 'about a month and a half' after their twins were born in January. 'I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest,' he claimed. Reports back in April claimed that Oleksy had made several failed attempts to 'foster peace' with the wrestling legend. Oleksy continued: 'She [Brooke] was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. 'No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife,' he said. Hulk welcomed Brooke as well as son Nick, 35, with ex-wife Linda - whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later tied the knot with Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 until their divorce in 2021. Two years later, the WWE legend said 'I do' to Sky and the pair were married up until his death. Brooke and her father last spoke nearly two years ago in September 2023 only weeks before he married Sky. On that call, Brooke expressed love and concern for her father - telling him that he shouldn't be working so hard due to his declining health. Despite her pleas for him to enjoy more of his life, those requests fell on deaf ears. The pair didn't speak again.
