Martha Stewart, Cindy Crawford, Oprah and other stars are fans of this hands-free phone case
If you tend to misplace your phone or you're constantly digging deep into your tote bag to find it, celebs might have found the solution with the Bandolier Crossbody Phone Case. Over the years, stars including Martha Stewart, Madonna, Cindy Crawford, Reese Witherspoon and Kaley Cuoco have been spotted with the brand's signature phone case, which has an adjustable crossbody strap so you can keep your hands free and your phone at the ready.
Bandolier makes crossbody phone cases in an array of colors. Stewart posted a selfie on Instagram with her Casey phone case in army green last summer. Madonna opted for the simple black Hailey phone case while out and about in New York City after wrapping up her Celebration Tour. Crawford donned hers in a selfie showing off a new haircut. Cuoco posted a photo to Instagram with hers in a pregnancy announcement back in October 2022. And tons of celebs have been seen carrying theirs on city streets all over. Oprah even named it one of her favorite things back in 2021!
In addition to the long strap, Bandolier's phone cases also have a small wallet attached to the back. This makes them ideal for minimalists who want to leave the house completely hands-free. Of course, if you do end up tossing the case in your bigger handbag, you can take the strap off — the case at least makes it easier to find your phone and wallet at the same time.
You can snag Bandolier's simple Emma Crossbody Phone Case at Amazon for $102. Yes, it costs more than your average phone case, but it's leather, so it should last as long as you have your phone (and then some). It could also prevent you from losing your mobile device, which we all know is a very costly mistake. The Emma comes in black leather with silver, gold or pewter metal hardware. It sports one of the brand's skinniest leather straps and a small pocket for your ID and credit card on the back. Only iPhone-compatible sizes are available at Amazon, but you can shop for cases that fit certain Android phones on the brand's website.
Hundreds of Amazon shoppers give the case a five-star rating. "Elegant, handy and practical," said one impressed customer. "I love taking photographs with my iPhone. However, at functions, I was forever leaving it on one table or another. Now I can have it handy without detracting from my outfit. The leather and strap are elegant and expensive-looking. The case fits my iPhone 14 Pro, leaving the cameras always handy. I keep a few of my business cards and a $20 bill in the pouch. I love this item and wish I would have bought it much sooner."
"This is my second Bandolier crossbody iPhone case — I had my first Bandolier case for two years and only got a new one because I got a new iPhone and it didn't fit my old case," said another. "Love it for traveling or when I go out in the evenings and don't need a purse. It's extremely durable and I like that I can carry my driver's license and a credit card or a small amount of cash securely without worrying that they will slip out of the case. I've gotten tons of compliments on it, too."
Another shopper gushed that their case has held up well, even after using it every day for a year. "I love not having to carry a wallet, and it's so understated with the design/look that you can literally wear it with anything," they said. "I've had it on my phone for a year and it still doesn't have a scratch on it and the leather hasn't stretched out from where the cards go."
The Emma Case is kind of the standard style, while the Hailey Crossbody Phone Case is $10 more and has a thicker strap and a slightly bigger wallet. The latter comes with gold or pewter hardware.
Of course, there are a few brands that make similar accessories for less, that can look equally chic — check out these budget-friendly look-alikes.
If you have Amazon Prime, you'll get free shipping, of course. Not yet a member? No problem. You can sign up for your free 30-day trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on orders of $35 or more.)

What Preschooler Says During Acting Audition Leaves Mom Speechless
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Let's be honest—most adults have stretched the truth at least once to land a job. But one preschooler may have taken it to the next level. A recent survey by StandOut-CV of 2,012 U.S. adults revealed that more than three in five respondents (64.2%) admitted to lying on their resume at least once. But resume embellishments aren't just for grown-ups. When Harlyn Brielle was just four years old when she improvised during an acting audition - in a desperate bid to get the role. Her mom, Bree, 33, recently shared the clip on Instagram (@breenotacomedian), where it quickly went viral, amassing over 1.9 million views. "We rehearsed the commercial every day for weeks and she did that part perfectly," she told Newsweek. "But when we got to the questions, she had her own agenda." Two screenshots from the viral video showing the young girl looking at her mom and then smiling. Two screenshots from the viral video showing the young girl looking at her mom and then smiling. Instagram/@breenotacomedian During the virtual interview, Harlyn was asked whether she could speak any other languages. Without missing a beat, she confidently replied, "Yes," then proceeded to invent her own language on the spot—before wrapping up the impromptu answer by repeatedly saying "gracias" in Spanish. Bree, who had spent weeks rehearsing the commercial script with Harlyn, was caught completely off guard. "We rehearsed the commercial every day for weeks and she did that part perfectly," she told Newsweek. "But when we got to the questions, she had her own agenda." Trying to keep things on track, Bree gently clarified to the interviewer that her daughter could do accents, not speak other languages. But Harlyn wasn't about to let go of her narrative, doubling down on her claim with even more Spanish flair. Unfortunately, the audition—allegedly for a cereal brand—turned out to be a scam. Bree discovered the red flag when the organizers asked for money. "When I told Harlyn, her response was, 'No way we're paying them. I'm the star—they should pay me!'" Bree recalled. Although that particular opportunity didn't pan out, Harlyn, now seven, has since landed a small role in the film Girl in the Closet. Determined to support her daughter's acting ambitions, Bree even created an Instagram page dedicated to her budding career: @harlynbrielle. "Harlyn is one of those kids where I never know what's going to come out of her mouth," Bree said. "As a Virgo, she's bold, confident, and—if you ask her— she's always right!" Online audiences seem to agree. The original video, posted on May 6, has garnered more than 165,000 likes and many users can relate to the text layered over the clip. It says: "When you lie on the job application [and] say you're bilingual to try [and] get the job." "I checked the bilingual box on an Indeed app and listed 'mildly conversant' on my resume. I got the job and ended up answering phones while googling responses!" resonated one user. "This is what real confidence looks like. I hope she keeps it forever," complimented another and a third pointed out: "Her mom was just as surprised as we all were."

Can Castor Oil Really Transform Your Hair?
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. If you're chronically online and, more specifically, a frequent #HairTok watcher, then you've come across several videos on ingredients like rosemary oil or even Amla oil celebrating their purported growth-inducing benefits in hair growth oils and hair masks. Yet amongst all these buzzy ingredients, one stalwart remains a constant in the hair growth conversation: castor oil. This time-tested treatment has been woven into the tapestry of generations and is likely a familiar presence in your own hair care routine. 'Castor oil is the world's oldest and most popular herbal remedy for hair oiling,' says Nikita Mehta, co-founder and creative director of ayurvedic haircare brand Fable & Mane. It's rich in fatty acids like ricinoleic acid, making it very viscous, nourishing, and moisturizing. It's proven to coat the shaft of the hair, reducing damage and helping it grow longer and stronger.' With 566 million views dedicated to #castoroil on TikTok and over 258,000 posts on Instagram, users claim the oil does everything from making hair shinier and bouncier to growing it thicker and longer. But are these claims legit? We ask three experts about the benefits of castor oil and exactly how to use it. Dr. Nikki Hill is a board-certified dermatologist and hair restoration expert. Bridgette Hill is a certified trichologist, colorist, and scalp therapist. Nikita Mehta, co-founder & creative director of ayurvedic haircare brand Fable & Mane. Castor oil, also known as Ricinus communis, is a nutrient-rich vegetable oil made from castor beans. Although it originates in tropical East Africa, it is widely used in India and the West Indies for cosmetic and medicinal purposes. Castor oil is usually clear or pale yellow unless derived through roasting or boiling, which is known as black castor oil. Down to a molecular level, castor oil is a long-chained fatty acid. 'Fatty acids provide essential proteins and nutrients to hair follicles and prevent hair follicle inflammation,' says Bridgette Hill. Aside from being anti-inflammatory, castor oil has a few other noteworthy properties. 'Some benefits of using castor oil include increased gloss or shine of the hair, increased hair shaft flexibility by coating the hair shaft, [and] providing antimicrobial properties,' says Dr. Hill. 'No studies exist showing castor oil can increase hair growth >1cm/month, which is the FDA standard of hair growth,' says Dr. Hill. 'However, I have patients tell me differently all the time. Additionally, 90 percent of castor oil is made up of the fatty acid ricinoleic acid. [It] is known to stimulate the Prostaglandin E2 receptor, leading to blood vessel dilation. When applied to the scalp, increased blood vessel dilation increases the flow of oxygen-rich and nutrient-rich blood to the powerhouse of your follicle, the dermal papilla, or the root of the hair.' Bridgette Hill agrees that castor oil indirectly promotes hair growth. 'Because of the nutrients in castor oil, it protects the hair follicle from outside cellular and tissue invaders that destroy the health and vitality of the hair follicle.' The short answer is yes to the eyebrows, but be cautious with the eyelashes. 'If there isn't an allergy to castor oil after patch testing, it is safe to use on the eyebrows,' says Dr. Hill. There is no safety data about castor oil and eye health, so I would be cautious and speak with an ophthalmologist about applying castor oil in close proximity to the eye.' Although castor oil is widely used, it is not meant for everyone. Therefore, it is important to perform a patch test before applying it to your scalp. 'Apply a small amount behind the ear or the inner upper arm for a week,' says Dr. Hill. Once you determine that castor oil is compatible with your scalp, the next step is selecting the right amount. 'Hair oiling can work for all hair and scalp types, but the secret to how much [ingredients] lies in the formula,' says Mehta. Her rule of thumb: the purer the oil, the heavier it'll be. Here, Dr. Hill also goes into more detail: The best way to use castor oil is on dry hair and scalp. 'Warm the oil between your palms first, then work it through the roots and massage onto the scalp, focusing on the crown chakra (the top of your head) to relieve tension and feelings of stress,' Mehta says. After combing the excess through to the lengths of your hair, let it sit in for 20 minutes or even overnight. 'Rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm water and then shampoo out. You may need to double cleanse to ensure you remove all traces of the oil, and I usually skip the conditioner after hair oiling as the oils provide so much hydration. You'll notice a difference in hair hydration and, if done consistently, you'll see hair growth in length and volume.' All of our hair experts recommend cold-pressed castor oil. 'Cold-pressed castor oil can be used on the hair shaft,' Dr. Hill says. Mehta describes it as pale gold in appearance, adding that since 'castor oil is so thick and can 'stick' to hair, it's best used when diluted with a lighter carrier oil, such as coconut or almond.' If you're interested in trying black castor oil, Dr. Hill notes: 'It should be applied only to the scalp. If black castor oil is applied to the hair, a cuticle-sealing technique should be used afterward. Both forms will provide sufficient components of ricinoleic acid.' If you have dandruff, it is best to avoid using castor oil on your hair. Both of our experts say it can make the condition worse.
