Wendy's unveils new goth Wednesday Addams-inspired menu

Time Out4 days ago
She's creepy and they're... greasy?
At least for the Meals of Misfortune limited-edition menu coming to Wendy's, when Netflix's dark hit Wednesday takes over. Things get started July 31, with a 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. sneak peek at the 12138 Imperial Highway location in Norwalk, California. The rest of the country can taste the dread in August.
'Normally I'd be against this kind of capitalistic corporate synergy,' Wednesday Addams said in a press release (presumably in a sinister monotone). 'But when the fast-food-slinging pigtailed provocateur said I could do whatever I wanted to her customers, I couldn't resist.'
Wednesday didn't hold back, either. Menu items will include 'Rest in 10-Piece' (nuggets), 'Cursed & Crispy' (fries), 'Raven's Blood' (a Frosty served with a "Spoon of Gloom") and 'Dips of Dreadm,' four inferno-inspired mystery sauces named You Can't Hyde, This Will Sting, Grave Mistake and Nowhere to Woe.
But don't fear (or possibly, do), because the Meals of Misfortune will spread across the United States on August 4, just in time for the long-awaited premiere of Wednesday's second season on August 6 on Netflix. (Part two of the season will stream on September 3.)
But regardless of where you live, you can get in on the world's spookiest pigtailed collab with 'Escape from Wednesday's Woe.' A Wendy's app exclusive (yes, Wendy's has an app), 'Escape from Wednesday's Woe' is an interactive game that requires fans help Wednesday avoid normalcy and potentially win $10,000. Or at the very least, score some sweet Wendy's rewards.
Season 1 of Wednesday premiered in 2022 and quickly became one of Netflix's most-watched originals, thanks in large part to director Tim Burton's singular vision and Jenna Ortega's star-making performance as the titular teen, stranded at a new school where things are not what they seem. The moody set design, sardonic scripts and killer cello soundtrack made Wednesday into the ideal binge for anyone looking to feel a little mysterious and ooky, whether or not it's spooky season.
Season 2 promises even more thrills and chills, with guest stars like Lady Gaga, Steve Buscemi and Billie Piper joining returning cast members

Hollywood A-lister's sprawling UK mansion with THREE private islands hits market for £4.5m – can you guess famous owner?

A HOLLYWOOD legend has put his sprawling UK mansion, complete with three private islands, up for sale for an eye-watering £4.5million. The Oxfordshire home has been dubbed an "enchanted paradise", coming with a whopping 17 acres of land and direct access to the Thames river. 3 3 The property is on the market with Savills for a hefty price point, but has a legacy of famous residents. The home is currently owned by Hollywood royalty, Tim Burton, who bought the Georgian country home with his then-partner Helena Bonham Carter, in 2006. Mill House also previously belonged to Bonham Carter's great-grandfather, the former Prime Minister Herbert Henry Asquith. Built in 1741, the grade II listed 5,909 square foot home comes complete with a library, drawing room and eight bedrooms. Today, the property still carries its Georgian charm as its decked out with panelled doors, sash windows, original wooden shutters and carved fireplaces. While Burton is famed for his gothic-tinged films, notably being the mind behind Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and most recently, Wednesday, the home's decor remains relatively clean and traditional. For example, the sitting room is adorned with vintage cinema posters, including the 1966 Japanese sci-fi film, The War of the Gargantuas, which he once said his children were "obsessed with, as I was," The Standard reports. Hugh Maconochie, director in Savills' country house department and private office, told The Standard: "Mill House is a quintessential example of an English country house, blending timeless charm with modern comfort. "Of particular note are its wonderful grounds and gardens, which promise the future owner a truly enchanting lifestyle - one that is reminiscent of a Swallows and Amazons adventure." Among the garden's features is a rose terrace with brick paths, a courtyard, a croquet lawn, and even three small islands. Secret drone footage shows LeBron James' $37 million mega-mansion construction overlooking LA ahead of NBA retirement Also, the site offers a pergola-covered walk, and a mill pond and streams. The famed director met Helena Bonham Carter on he set of his 2001 film Planet of the Apes. This marked the beginning of a 13 year relationship, which came to an end in 2014. Burton also sold another property, Eglon House, in 2023 for a staggering £17.5million. The 13,000 square foot home, which was bough by a British media entrepreneur, consisted of two interlinked buildings facing eachother across a courtyard garden. 3

The widely acclaimed adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestselling novel of the same name made waves when it first came out in 2020 on BBC Three – leaving a trail of broken hearts in its wake. The Ireland-based story follows Connell and Marianne from their late teens through to their early 20s as they navigate love, loss and all the ways your first love can haunt you. Portrayed by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, the roles not only catapulted them into global fame but the show landed seven Bafta nominations, including a win for Paul as lead actor. The show has touched several lives for its portrait of the complex relationship our star-crossed lovers share – from their school days when Marianne felt socially rejected by Paul through their early adulthood as they both grow into themselves, and must navigate their own traumas. Set across 12 episodes, it has topped the list of people's favourite TV shows and amassed a loyal fanbase. 'Deeply moving. Lives long in the memory after watching,' Dermot M wrote on Rotten Tomatoes where it enjoys an outstanding 91% score. 'Powerful Perfection. Doesn't get any better than this. Literally my favorite series to ever been made. No flaws from me. Will re-watch again and again. Have the tissues ready every time,' Jackie H said. I have never experienced such a variety of feelings during a show. I was happy, sad, laughed, cried and at some point felt an immense anguish. That's how well these actors performed,' Jerry F declared. Over on Google Reviews, Noel Woodward described it as 'wondrous, magical, messy, complicated and oh so relatable'. 'A beautiful, patient, poetic series about messy love between two damaged, self-loathing people who find meaning and transcendence in a relationship despite their mistakes and inability to quiet the noise in their heads,' Michael Duran echoed. Adeline Jugler called it 'exquisite' while Andy David called it 'painfully beautiful in every possible way'. Last year, Twisters star Daisy told the BBC she 'loves those characters [and] would be wonderful to explore them again.' She added: 'Normal People was a series that was such a lockdown phenomenon. I think it introduced Paul and I to a lot of people and film-makers.' More Trending Since the show both have seen huge success in their careers with Paul landing an Oscar nomination for Aftersun and featuring in the blockbuster sequel Gladiator II. Meanwhile, Daisy has starred as the lead in another hit book adaptation, Where the Crawdads Sing, and is set to lead the remake of the classic novel Sense and Sensibility. So whether it is your 10,000th time rewatching or you have been putting it off for five years, this is your sign to grab a tub of ice cream and click play on Normal People episode one. ‘My husband and I went to play golf on the west coast': Catherine Zeta-Jones on filming Netflix hit ‘Wednesday' in Ireland

Ahead of Wednesday season two, Catherine Zeta-Jones discusses why the series and the Addams family are so relevant, visiting her Irish roots with husband Michael Douglas and feeling blessed in midlife Lately, we have become accustomed to very open public and private conversation about the realities of midlife, and yet it still seems strange to discuss Morticia Addams in this particular bracket. That said, in the new, second season of Netflix's Wednesday, Morticia, played again by Catherine Zeta-Jones, is very much a woman navigating the recognisable rigours of midlife.
