Speaking of Christmas Day, we found out via multiple reports on Wednesday morning that the Vikings will play a stream-only contest against the division-rival Detroit Lions on December 25, this season. 2025 Minnesota Vikings schedule leaks and rumors
As of 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, we know about half of the schedule, and most of the games have been verified by beat writers and other media members who would know. If you would like to skip directly to the full rumored schedule (as we know it so far) scroll down.
The first reported game (per Maria Martin – ABC Atlanta) will be on Sunday Night Football vs the Atlanta Falcons. That game is supposedly scheduled for week 2 (per our friends @TPPSkol), right after the Vikings' rumored opener on MNF vs the Bears — more on that shortly.
On Thursday Night Football week 8, the Minnesota Vikings will reportedly fly to the west coast to play the Los Angeles Chargers, per Alex Katson (WideLeft.com). Then in week 16, according to Art Stapleton (USA Today), they'll travel to the Big Apple for a late-season contest vs the New York Giants.

Minnesota's own Ben Goessling (Star Tribune) concludes, based on Vikings vs Lions in week 17, that the Green Bay Packers will be this year's week 18 rivalry opponent. He also had week 11 at home vs the Bears. Our friends @TPPSkol first reported week 3 at home against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Vikings vs Bears on MNF to open season
The most notable rumor — which has just recently became verified by Arif Hassan (WideLeft.com) is a week 1 Monday Night Football showdown against the Chicago Bears. This schedule leak was originally reported by @NerdingonNFL (who's been correctly leaking a bunch of games this morning). The aforementioned Hassan has also confirmed the Vikings' weeks 3 and 7 matchups against the Bengals and Eagles, respectively.

Accredited NFL reporters out of the Athletic have helped give this rumor some steam, however. Vikings beat writer Alec Lewis retweeted a MNF tease from his colleague out of Chicago, Kevin Fishbain, full with an eyeball emoji and everything. Might as well make it official now…
What NFL fans are waiting for tonight — and what is being leaked today — is the 'when' and 'where' of these 2025 regular season games; as in what weeks/days they will be played and what platform they will air on. The Minnesota Vikings 2025 opponents have been revealed for months.

There Are Multiple Trade Proposals For Kirk Cousins
There Are Multiple Trade Proposals For Kirk Cousins originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cousins signed a $180 million contract with the Falcons in 2024 and would end up struggling in his first season with the team. Now, as it stands, Cousins is linked to multiple teams around the league and could be moved real soon. Advertisement Multiple teams in both conferences have multiple trade proposals for Cousins, and all of these teams are in need of a veteran presence at quarterback. All of these teams have assets and any one of them could be the next home for Cousins. Kirk Cousins (18) celebrates after a Davis-Imagn Images Pittsburgh Steelers The Steelers need a quarterback more than any other team in the NFL, as their number one is currently Mason Rudolph. They also do not have experience outside of Rudolph on the roster, and have not been able to sign Aaron Rodgers. The proposal would send multiple draft pics, along with a swap of a Day 3 pick to the Falcons for Cousins. A sixth-round pick that can turn into a fifth rounder, depending on how much Cousins plays, and Atlanta might have to pay most of the guaranteed money owed to him. Advertisement Minnesota Vikings The Vikings had traded for Sam Howell during the draft, and he is currently the backup for J.J. McCarthy. The proposal for the Vikings would send Howell and a few day three picks to the Falcons. Vikings would pay around $12 million of the guaranteed money and help the Falcons more than most teams. The Vikings would not mind reuniting with Cousins and having a veteran presence in the locker room for McCarthy. Cleveland Browns The Browns already have four healthy quarterbacks on their roster, but none of them are screaming full-time starter. They have been linked to Cousins all off-season and that only lowered when they drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Advertisement The trade proposal would send Kenny Pickett and multiple picks to Atlanta for Cousins. It all depends on how the quarterbacks show out at OTA's and training camp. These three teams could make a move at any given moment, and the Falcons could make calls all around the league. New Orleans Saints Quarterback Competition Heats Up in Final Week of OTAs
New Orleans Saints Quarterback Competition Heats Up in Final Week of OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New Orleans Saints quarterback competition stays hot. The final practice open to the media for OTAs highlighted the intense battle between rookie quarterback Tyler Shough and second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler. New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough (6)Stephen Lew-Imagn Images On Thursday, the Saints' offense worked in the red zone. Spencer Rattler ended the day 6/8 passing with 3 touchdowns, while Shough finished 7/8 passing with one touchdown. Both players rotated working with the first and second teams. Advertisement The quarterback battle became public first during the open portion of the first week of OTAs when Shough and Rattler each had impressive showings. During 7-on-7 sessions, Rattler went a perfect 8/8 passing, while Shough followed up closely, going 7/8 with a deep 50+ yard bomb to Shaheed. The two young signal callers continued their impressive runs in 7-on-7 drills the following week. During the open portion of the Saints week two OTAs, Shough went 9/12 with 2 touchdowns and an interception. The rookie quarterback's touchdowns came excitingly, with both being 60+ yard deep passes. Rattler continues to be right on Shough's trail, however, going 10/12 passing. Shough finishes OTAs going 23/28 for 3 touchdowns and an interception while Rattler ends 24/28 passing with 3 touchdowns. Both players delivered impressive performances, continuing the tight battle for the starting quarterback. While head coach Kellen Moore said the team will maintain similar workouts during minicamp, the real battle will begin in training camp, when teams will be allowed contact drills. As training camp ramps up and bleeds into preseason, a starter will be named. Saints Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry to Switch Jersey Number to No. 4
Saints Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry to Switch Jersey Number to No. 4 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A new look for the New Orleans Saints second-year cornerback. Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry is switching from jersey No. 14 to No. 4, per the team's website. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-Imagn Images Brad Penner-Imagn Images McKinstry first wore No. 34 during the offseason of his rookie year before switching to No. 14. It wasn't until veteran quarterback Derek Carr's retirement would officially go through that the second-year cornerback could make the switch to No. 4. McKinstry wore No. 1 throughout his high school and college career. Advertisement The move was highly anticipated by fans as many viewed the No. 4 as a better fit for the second-year defensive back. The reactions to the switch have been overwhelmingly positive with one fan saying "You best believe that's Kool-Aid #4 getting bought and FRAMED" The No. 4 is most often worn by kickers, punters, and quarterbacks but a recent rule change on jersey numbers in 2021 allowed skill position players to wear single-digit numbers. This rule change has seen a significant number of players opting to wear lower-digit numbers. Similarly to McKinstry, Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor made a switch from No. 27 to No. 1 during his sophomore season. There's plenty of pressure on McKinstry to take a significant jump as he enters his second season. New Orleans is hoping the former Alabama cornerback can cement himself as the team's starting outside corner. McKinstry had a positive showing during his rookie campaign, but plenty of growing pains appeared on tape. With the number switch, McKinstry's sophomore campaign could be seen as a clean slate with a new look.
