It's not the first time that Rahul, now the side's senior most batter with 58 caps, after the retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will be turning out for India 'A' ahead of an important overseas Test tour.
Last year, shortly after India lost the third Test to New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and suffered an unprecedented 3-0 series defeat at home, Rahul and wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel flew to Melbourne to turn out for India 'A' in their red-ball game against Australia 'A' at the MCG ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
With Rahul having scored two centuries as an opener on Test tours of England, his experience at the top will be very vital for India to navigate the challenge of facing the moving ball in the initial stage of an innings and then set a total to challenge the ultra-attacking batting style of the Ben Stokes-led side.

At the end of the second session, India A are 213/3 with KL Rahul (93*) and Dhruv Jurel (37*) unbeaten on the crease. India A began the second session of the day from 75/2 with KL Rahul (26*) and Karun Nair (16*) unbeaten on the crease. India A brought up their 100-run mark on the fourth ball of the 27th over as Nair took a single on the bowling of right-arm seamer Chris Woakes. At the score of 126, the visitors lost their third wicket as Woakes dismissed Nair in the 34th over. Before going back, the right-hand batter scored 40 runs, which was laced by four boundaries. After Nair's departure, the team's wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel came to bat. Rahul completed his half-century in the 38th over as he took a double on the bowling of George Hill. The Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side completed their 150 in the 40th over as Rahul slammed a four in George Hill's over. The India A side touched the 200-run mark in the 49th over as Jurel smashed a four. Until the end of the second session, Rahul and Jurel built an unbeaten partnership of 87 runs. London [UK], June 6 (ANI): Australia's seasoned quick Scott Boland is still in the dark about his potential appearance in the World Test Championship final against South Africa on Tuesday at the Lord's, a venue where he would 'love' to play. With match figures of 5/105, the 36-year-old was one of Australia's premier pacers when they lifted their maiden WTC mace at The Oval in 2023 against India. He boosted his credentials against India by scalping 21 wickets in three appearances as Australia celebrated its first Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph in a decade. Despite his exploits, Boland has found himself in a neck-to-neck battle with IPL-winning seamer Josh Hazlewood for one spot in the defending champions' pace setup against the Proteas. With less than a week left for the enticing contest, Boland has yet to receive the green light from the selectors about his spot in the playing XI. 'I haven't had any chats with them (selectors).
