Highlights of 5-star Georgia QB commit Jared Curtis
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback plays high school football for Nashville Christian School in Nashville, Tennessee. Curtis projects as the quarterback of the future for Georgia.

During his 2024 high school season, completed 40 touchdown passes and threw just three interceptions. Curtis completed over 70 percent of his passes for 2,830 yards as a junior. Curtis is a big, mobile quarterback. As a rusher, he added 637 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns on 88 carries. He helped Nashville Christian go 12-1 and win their first state championship since 2015.

Curtis and Nashville Christian defeated Columbia Academy 49-21 in the 2024 state championship. In the game, Curtis passed for 158 yards including two touchdowns. He also added 60 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Curtis showcased the value of his mobility and strength in the red zone in the state championship. He does not easily go down at first contact as a rusher, but is also more than capable of connecting with his receivers with deep, accurate passes.

Curtis is the complete package at quarterback. It may take him a bit of time to adjust to the speed of college football like any other freshman. He has the talent to start right away as a true freshman if things click for him.

Curtis had one deflected pass that was lucky to not be intercepted, but did a good job of finding his guys a few times in tight coverage. The Nashville Christian star can extend plays and forces defenses to defend the entire field due to his dual threat ability.

The NFL wants players to have fun within the rules. That's why the league will be emphasizing sportsmanship and cracking down on violent and sexually suggestive gestures this season. 'Unsportsmanlike gestures like simulating or either shooting a gun or brandishing a gun, or inappropriate gestures like a throat slash, or unfortunate sexual gestures, those were up 133% so that is a point of emphasis,' NFL officiating rules analyst Walt Anderson said Thursday. 'The officials have made it a point of emphasis to the clubs. It's just one of those areas that the league wants to work actively on. There are plenty of ways for players to be able to celebrate, and they come up with some very unique and often entertaining ways so we want them to focus on those and not the inappropriate areas.' In April, the NFL expanded prohibited acts to include banning the 'nose wipe' gesture that league executive Troy Vincent said is affiliated with gangs. The unsportsmanlike conduct rule now states: 'any violent gesture, which shall include but not be limited to a throat slash, simulating firing or brandishing a gun, or using the 'nose wipe' gesture, or an act that is sexually suggestive or offensive. 'There's no place in the game to be standing over your opponent,' Vincent said in a video that's sent to teams. 'There's no place in the game to have violent gestures. WASHINGTON (AP) — Jeff McNeil has a sore right shoulder, the latest nagging injury for the New York Mets as they try to recover from a late-summer swoon. McNeil was out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale at Washington, with Brett Baty starting at second base. One of the Mets' most consistent hitters, McNeil went 4 for 8 with a homer, two doubles and five RBIs in the previous two games against the Nationals. 'It doesn't bother him to swing the bat. It's just more the throwing,' manager Carlos Mendoza said. The shoulder problem began late last week, Mendoza said, which is why McNeil started at designated hitter on Saturday and Sunday. Brandon Nimmo was also out of the lineup Thursday with the stiff neck that forced him to leave Wednesday night's game in the second inning. Tyrone Taylor started in left field. 'We didn't see much improvement overnight,' Mendoza said of Nimmo. McNeil has experience in left, but the shoulder problem means he's not an option there for now. New York's series at Washington began Tuesday with the news that catcher Francisco Alvarez has a sprained ligament in his right thumb that will require surgery. Alvarez is hoping he can play through the pain after a stint on the injured list. Backup catcher Luis Torrens had a rough night Wednesday that included getting hit in his receiving hand by a bat on a catcher's interference play, but Mendoza said Thursday that Torrens was 'fine.' The Mets had a three-game winning streak before Wednesday night's loss, but the team with the biggest payroll in the majors is just 5-15 since July 28.
