Jack P. Shepherd's ex-girlfriend left with 'eyebrows raised' over star's lavish cathedral wedding to Hanni Treweek as her pals 'mock him for acting like royalty'

Daily Mail02-08-2025
Jack P. Shepherd's ex-girlfriend and mother of his two children Lauren Shippey has been reportedly left unimpressed by his wedding to Hanni Treweek last week.
The Coronation Street star, 37, tied the knot with his love in a no expenses spared wedding at Manchester Cathedral with the lavish nuptials featuring a star-studded guest list and the groom arriving in a red mustang.
While fans were loving the nuptials, it is said that Lauren - who allegedly didn't receive an invite - was left baffled by the 'whole pomp and grandeur' of the big day, which has been compared to the Royal Wedding.
A source told The Sun of Lauren's thoughts: 'Lauren can't help but raise eyebrows about the whole thing, she has known Jack for a very long time and has two children with him, so she knows him very well.
'The wedding is not what she or anyone really expected, and the whole pomp and grandeur has left people scratching their heads.
'Her friends have been mocking him for acting like royalty, and she can see why.'
The source noted that Lauren - who has a four-year-old daughter with her partner Ben - has 'well and truly moved on' with her life and has 'no hard feelings' for Jack.
They noted that Lauren had a 'difficult time' during their relationship and has made 'no secret of the issues' they faced in the past.
MailOnline have contacted Jack's representatives for comment.
Meanwhile, as friends and family happily gathered to watch the couple say 'I do', one person was notably absent from the celebrations - Jack's 16-year-old daughter Nyla.
While Lauren and Jack's other child, 11-year-old son Reuben was present on the day, their teen daughter appeared to be missing from both the ceremony and the evening reception at the Lowry Hotel.
Before his relationship with Hanni, Jack was engaged to ex Lauren, who he had been dating since he was 14 and shares two children with.
However, in 2010 their relationship hit the rocks when the David Platt actor had an affair that led to a pregnancy.
Lauren threw the actor out of the house after he cheated on her and fathered another child called Greyson following a one-night stand with sales executive Sammy Milewski.
It is understood that Jack does not have a parental relationship with Greyson other than to pay maintenance, according to The Sun.
After the scandal, Jack and Lauren got back together and he even proposed to her with a £3,000 ring after issuing a public apology.
He said at the time: 'On Sunday, there were some articles printed about errors I have made in my private life.
'Over the years, I have enjoyed a successful career with Coronation Street, and with this, I have experienced privileges that have exceeded my own expectations.
'The core ingredients to my success have come from the following areas; my family, ITV Granada, and specifically my girlfriend Lauren and daughter Nyla.
'I would like to apologise to my family, for all the hurt and pain I have caused them, to ITV Granada for letting them down, and especially to Lauren and Nyla, who are the most important people in my life.
'I now need to concentrate on what is really important, my family and my career, as I have abused my position as an employee, partner and father, and for that I am deeply sorry.'
The couple then got back together, before eventually splitting again in 2017 after 15 years together.
Meanwhile, Jack and his long-term love Hanni got engaged during a romantic safari holiday in the Serengeti in June 2024.
At the time, the couple posed for loved-up snaps in their safari getups to announce the happy news on social media.
Flashing her sparkling engagement ring, Hannah beamed for the camera before kissing her new fiancé.
Captioning the snaps, she gushed: '05.06.24 I said YES to forever!!!'
Jack and Hanni have been dating since 2017, after meeting on the soap when she worked in the press office.
She later became a storyliner on the ITV show, before quitting to work as a fashion influencer.
Their big day saw Jack, who has played David since 2000, shared a passionate kiss with Hanni as white confetti fell on them after their wedding ceremony in July.
The soapstar cut a dapper figure in a white suit as he arrived in a red mustang with his mother and his son Reuben.
Hanni arrived shortly after, and looked gorgeous in an elegant white gown, with lace detail and a long trail.
Fellow Corrie star Lucy Fallon was amongst the guests as well as Tina O'Brien, who plays his sister Sarah, and his on-screen wife Julia Goulding.
Other Corrie stars in attendance included Samia Longchambon, Colson Smith, Ben Price, Alan Halsall and Jayne Danson.

Famous Sheffield club has been gutted in act of ‘wanton destruction', says owner

The owners of the building which housed Sheffield's famous Leadmill music venue say they have found a scene of 'wanton destruction' as they took possession after a bitter eviction battle. Electric Group said it moved in to the premises on Wednesday evening, weeks after it was successful in its long legal battle against the operators of The Leadmill. In a statement, the firm said: 'The Leadmill, one of Sheffield's most iconic music venues, has been returned to its owners in a wrecked state – stripped of fixtures, vandalised, and left wide open to the elements. 'Electric Group, which took possession of the building late on Wednesday evening, were met with a scene of destruction, even the front doors had been taken.' It said: 'The stage where world-famous bands once performed has been ripped out, the sprung dancefloor torn up, bars and lighting removed, and the venue stripped back to bare brickwork.' It said the reusable materials have been 'all dumped rather than being recycled, reused, or donated to community projects'. The firm also criticised attempts which have been made to remove a well-known Mike Disley frieze sculpture from the frontage of the building – which has been halted by Sheffield City Council. Electric Group co-founder Dominic Madden said: 'It's devastating to see the building like this. It's so important to people.' He said: 'Stepping into this building and seeing the wanton destruction that has taken place is the sum of all my fears. 'What has happened these last few weeks behind closed doors is devastating, how anybody can do so much damage is beyond belief. 'We knew they'd take their belongings, but we also thought they valued this place. Their treatment of it proves otherwise.' Mr Madden said he was now 'even more determined to do whatever it takes' to re-open the building as the Electric Sheffield music venue in February 2026. The existing Leadmill venue closed at the end of June, with a final gig by indie favourite Miles Kane, after losing a long-running eviction battle with Electric Group. After it lost an appeal in May, The Leadmill described the decision as a 'heartbreaking moment not just for our team but for the entire Sheffield community' which 'feels like a betrayal of the cultural fabric of our city'. The appeal ruling came three months after a judge ruled in favour of Electric Group, which owns the building and runs Electric Brixton in London plus venues in Bristol and Newcastle. The Leadmill opened its doors 45 years ago and played host to countless bands including Pulp, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Muse, Oasis, Stone Roses, The White Stripes, Jorja Smith and Michael Kiwanuka. A plaque on the building marked Pulp's first gig, which was at the venue in August 1980. Ian Lawlor, general manager of the Leadmill Ltd, told the Sheffield Star they had been open with Electric Group about their plans to remove their belongings, adding that 'any claims by them on the contrary is just fiction to make us look like the bad guys'.

School drama Waterloo Road returned to screens two years ago after the BBC cancelled medical drama Holby City in order to move TV investment away from London. The BBC says the Manchester-set programme's return, which began in 2006 and ran until 2015 before it was brought back to screens in 2023, will allow it to continue with its investment in creative talent in the north of England. Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, said: "I'm delighted that Waterloo Road will be opening its corridors once again, with two more series of the hit drama about to start filming. "The show continues to entertain the audience who love to follow both the staff and pupils and, with a new series heading to BBC iPlayer and BBC One next month, they don't have long to wait." The next series will see Jon Richardson make his debut as the school's new media studies teacher next month, and the show has already seen Lindsey Coulson replace comedian Jason Manford, who played Steven Savage, as new headteacher, Dame Stella Drake. During its time on TV, Waterloo Road has explored storylines such as the cost-of-living crisis, coercive control, neurodivergence, work-place politics, family drama, grief, and young love. The show has provided a launch pad for the careers of stars such as Lucien Laviscount, Rege-Jean Page and Chelsee Healey, as well as Phoebe Dynevor, whose sister Hattie Dynevor joined the series in 2024, and Adam Thomas, who returned when the series was rebooted in 2023 and remains on the show. Cameron Roach, Waterloo Road executive producer, said: 'When the BBC commissioned the reboot of Waterloo Road, we had hoped it might run for a few seasons. "But to be commissioned for further series, bringing the total episodes since relaunch to 70 hours, is a huge achievement and a reflection of the incredible creative teams in front of and behind the camera. "As well as continuing to celebrate emerging talent, the show is fast gaining a reputation for working with the best comedy talent, as Jon Richardson joins the cast this season. Kym Marsh quits HUGE TV job after overhauling her personal life "As a team we're incredibly proud that a very British show can be such an enduring success for the BBC and continue to bring in new generations of viewers." Filming for the two new series will begin in Greater Manchester later this year, with the first of the pair to launch next year.

Bride sparks debate after revealing she's considering UNINVITING guests from wedding over reaction to her dress

A bride-to-be has sparked a debate online after revealing she's considering cutting guests from her wedding over their reaction to her dress. She opened up about it on Reddit under a subreddit called Bridezillas, explaining that she and her fiancé are planning a small, courthouse wedding followed by a dinner at a nearby restaurant to celebrate, with around 50 guests planning to come. Her choice of gown, the Reformation Vina dress in white, was meant to reflect the low-key, non-traditional vibe of the day. The simple mini dress is designed to 'to have a relaxed fit throughout,' per its website, and according to the bride, it looked perfect on her small frame. 'I'm short, and long/voluminous dresses tend to overwhelm me,' she wrote. 'Plus, I feel like, since it's my wedding, I get to decide what I'm wearing.' But when she excitedly shared dress choice with her find with family and friends, the mood soured. Her mother repeatedly urged her to find 'something else to wear,' her best friend questioned whether it was 'just' her courthouse dress, and others suggested she should pick another option entirely. 'I'm so tired of the criticism that I, someone who loves fashion and clothing, stopped sharing the rest of the outfit details with everyone,' the bride vented. 'Also, I think it's worth noting that I wasn't asking for feedback. I was sharing because I was excited. Now I'm just irritated.' She added: 'This is one of the first things I found besides the venue and décor that is wedding-related, so it's really taken the fun out of anything wedding planning-related.' The bride said she was disappointed by everyone's reactions, especially since in the past when her other family members or friends shared their own wedding dresses, she always 'matched their excitement and [was] supportive because they [were] happy.' She said that aside from her fiancé and her father, no one in her inner circle has supportive of her wedding dress choice, prompting her to regret showing the dress to her loved ones in the first place. And she's now even even reconsidering her guest list and might uninvite some people. 'I regret showing my dress to everyone else, and I will not be defending my choices to them. I'll probably just not share anything else moving forward,' she admitted. 'It's making me seriously reconsider the guest list as well. Am I overreacting?' After the bride shared her story online, strangers rallied by her side in the comment section, and many even gushed over the dress. 'Next time someone makes a comment, remind them they're not wearing the dress or getting married in it. And if it's so bad, they can't be nice and tell you you're beautiful, they can stay home,' one person wrote. Another was more blunt, telling her: 'Your family and friends sound like a**holes.' A third chimed in: 'These people are all being rude as f**k.' One user even posted a screenshot of the Reformation Vina dress she had described - a short, white mini that falls mid-thigh with spaghetti straps, a sheer mesh overlay, and a keyhole back with a delicate white button. The reveal sent commenters into overdrive. 'It's not ugly. I like it. It's simple and the focus will be on your love and not a $10,000 dress,' one fan said. 'Perfect for a courthouse wedding. Super cute,' agreed another. 'It's a really pretty dress. Perfect, and [the] best part: two important people in your life love it! Don't let the naysayers burst your bubbles,' someone else added. And one commenter offered a piece of advice for future brides-to-be, writing: 'Never show people your wedding dress before your wedding day, never tell anyone your baby names until the baby is here and named, never show anyone a house or a car you are buying until the deal is done. People are unhelpful and mean.'
