Bojan Miovski keeping options open over return to Scotland as he reveals major Aberdeen regret

Scottish Suna day ago

BOJAN MIOVSKI believes he could return to Scotland with Aberdeen - one day.
The North Macedonian striker left Pittodrie for La Liga side Girona last summer in a £6.8 million deal after two goal-laden seasons in the SPFL.

Miovski watched his former team-mates lift last season's Scottish Cup and while filled with regret he didn't get his hands on silverware during his time with the Dons, was thrilled for his ex-team-mates.
The 25-year-old plans to stay in Spain for the foreseeable future, but would be open to returning to the Granite City at some point in the future.
Miovski told RG.org: 'My career will probably last for another 10 years, and I cannot predict the future, but I do not rule out the possibility of wearing Aberdeen's shirt again one day.
'I was really appreciated within the club, and I love the club as well.
'I felt really good there, and if I return there one day, winning a trophy would be at the top of my list.
'Every player wants to win trophies, and for me, personally, I regret the fact that I did not manage to lift a trophy during my two years with Aberdeen.
'But I am really glad that they won the Scottish Cup now, and I am especially happy for my former teammates who played with me in the Scottish League Cup final back in 2023-24 that we lost.
'This is what football is all about — winning trophies.
'My desire to wear the shirt and my ambition to always score a goal and secure a win played a key role in me becoming so loved at the club and building up such a strong connection with the supporters.
'Their fans are unbelievable, and I still receive a lot of messages from them to this day, which makes me very happy.'

Miovski scored just seven goals in 34 games for Girona last term, which was a return way below what he'd become used to in the SPFL.
But the striker always knew he'd be a project for the club so is focused on buckling down to build on his first campaign.
He said: 'My primary goal is to score as many goals as possible next season and help my team (Girona) achieve its targets.
'I signed a long-term deal last year, but I cannot predict what will happen over the summer.
'Although the club considers me a project to develop and I have three years left on my contract, everything is open, and whether I will leave or stay depends on the club.
'I have never had a lack of self-confidence, as you cannot reach this level without being confident, and I have had much more difficult moments in my career.
'Even back when I was not playing regularly in the Macedonian top tier and I only watched matches from the stands, I did not lack confidence.
'I believe that with perseverance and hard work, my time will come, and I have been doing this all my life.
'And the critics do not affect me as well, as I consider them part of the job.

'When you play badly, you will get criticized, and when you play well, you will get praised.'
Miovski is convinced he chose the right club last summer, and aims to prove it.
He added: 'As a footballer, I always pick my clubs based on my style of play, and Girona was the best option for me last summer.
"Important to note, it was not the best financial offer that I got, but as a player, my priority is to develop my game and be at a club where I will play regularly.
'Girona played attacking football last season, and as a striker, I thought that I should join a team that created at least six or seven clear chances for the striker to score.
'But unfortunately, that was not the case this season, and it was the complete opposite compared to last.
'We had a lot of issues like injuries, and we played too slowly, we were not dangerous enough, nor did we make a lot of crosses, which made life difficult for us, the forwards.
'That is why I consider this season a failure from a collective point of view. Although we earned safety, we could have done much more with this squad.
'But in football, all of the pieces need to fall into place for the team to play well, and this season was unsuccessful for us.'

Gio van Bronckhorst to land Liverpool job under Arne Slot as Premier League champions go double dutch

The former Rangers manager is set to replace Johnny Heitinga on the Anfield coaching staff after his departure to Ajax Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to join Arne Slot's coaching staff at Liverpool. The former Rangers boss is poised to return to the dugout for the first time since leaving Besiktas last year, with the English Premier League champions to add him to Slot's staff as an assistant to his compatriot and fellow Feyenoord coaching alumni. ‌ The Reds started the search after Johnny Heitinga left this summer to take the manager's job and former club Ajax. ‌ And Slot is set to go Dutch again by bringing van Bronckhorst into the fold. Former Everton man Heitinga proved a popular figure in the Anfield dressing room, working under slot for just over a year. But the chance to take over at his hometown team in Amsterdam was too big to turn down and he was appointed after previous boss Francesco Farioli stepped down following a final day collapse that saw Ajax miss out on the Eredivise title by a point to PSV. Now van Bronckhorst, who was in the Ibrox hotseat for a year before being sacked in November 2022 for slipping too far behind Celtic, is set for a return to football with the Merseyside club. The Dutchman was replaced at Rangers by Steven Gerrard's former assistant and ex-Liverpool academy coach Michael Beale, with many feeling in hindsight that van Bronckhorst was harshly treated by the Gers hierarchy. ‌ Van Bronckhorst began his career at Feyenoord before joining the Light Blues in 1998. After three years in Govan, he joined Arsenal before making the move to Barcelona, the finishing his playing career back at Feyenoord. He became the boss at De Kuip in 2015 and led the Rotterdam club to their first Eredivise title for 18 years in 2016. Historic football club become first SPFL team since Rangers to be liquidated and reformed as newco

The club has a long history and even won the Scottish Cup MONEY MATTERS Historic football club become first SPFL team since Rangers to be liquidated and reformed as newco DUMBARTON will become the first SPFL club to be liquidated since Rangers, after a rescue plan to reform as a newco was finalised. Formed in 1872, they are of Scotland's oldest senior clubs and their storied history includes two league championships (one shared with Rangers) and a Scottish Cup win. The Sons won the old First, Second and Third Division titles and as recently as last year they won promotion to League One via the play-offs. But they were plunged into administration in November, which saw them docked 15 points and they were relegated back to League Two. Manager Stevie Farrell has been in post since 2021 but his future could too now be up in the air. Advertisement The club was bought over by Canadian businessman Mario Lapointe and there was hope they would exit administration via a creditors voluntary agreement. However, with the new season just a month away (Premier Sports Cup fixtures start on July 12) there were fears a deal wouldn't be reached in adequate time, A progress report by administrators Quantuma, first seen by The Herald, has now confirmed that the club will be dissolved and replaced by a new company. It will be called Dumbarton Football Club 1872 Ltd, and is wholly owned by Lapointe. Advertisement Rangers went through a similar process in 2012, with the club going into administration and then the company being dissolved. A statement, first reported by The Herald, said: 'The proposed exit route (from administration) is now dissolution. Moment Ally McCoist interrupts live radio to congratulate his 'wee pal' on signing for Rangers 'The administrators will seek approval from the creditors to this variation via a decision procedure using the consent process and, assuming agreement is obtained, will file a notice of dissolution. 'A funding requirement of circa £140,000 was highlighted for the team to complete the season. This funding requirement increases to c. £200k when carried through to the end of June 2025. Advertisement 'The shortfall has been funded by £118,384 raised by fans and the receipt of a £30,000 non refundable commitment fee which will be discussed further below. The balance of the shortfall will be met from the sale consideration.' Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
