Major EastEnders exit confirmed as star set to leave after 8 years

Metro22-05-2025

Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) is reportedly leaving EastEnders after 8 years.
The character, who is the daughter of Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley), has certainly struggled to get back on her feet following the massive storyline involving her brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).
As a result of producer Chris Clenshaw leaving and new boss Ben Wadey taking over, the show will undergo a few changes.
Usually when someone new takes over, a handful of characters depart the show, with Bernie Taylor seemingly being one of them.
'Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes – it's nothing personal. The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn't really a surprise to Clair', a source said.
Continuing to The Sun, they added: 'She was the last Taylor standing and it's time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.'
Metro has contacted EastEnders for a comment.
When the Taylor family arrived in 2017, Bernie lived with her siblings Keanu, Keegan and twins Riley and Chatham.

They welcomed the arrival of eldest sibling Chantelle a couple of years later, but she was killed by her abusive husband Gray Atkins.
In December 2023, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) stabbed Keanu to death in the Queen Vic. Linda and five other women then transported Keanu's body to the café and buried him under the rubble.

Bernie eventually worked out that the characters – known to viewers as The Six – were responsible for her sibling's demise and, despite everything, she kept shtum.

Fife neighbours scoop cash jackpot on BBC quiz show Bridge of Lies

A team of neighbours from a Fife town has won the cash jackpot on the hit BBC quiz show Bridge of Lies. The team of four from Coaltown of Wemyss, scooped the £4,575 prize money in a nail-biting finale on Wednesday. The contestants included former Courier reporter Craig Smith and his wife, Lyndsey, along with neighbours, Nicola Forrest and Kenny Rodger. Contestants compete against the clock using their general knowledge, strategic skills, and often luck, to spot correct answers as well as lies in order to cross the bridge. The prize money mounts up depending on the number of players who successfully make it across. The contestants then team up to take on the 'final crossing' challenge. If they successfully make it across by answering a series of questions correctly, they win the prize money accumulated during the show. The quiz is hosted by actor Ross Kemp, famous for his role as Grant Mitchell in Eastenders. Tackling questions on subjects including holidays, theatre, names and the Stephen Spielberg films, all four made it across the bridge. This allowed them to go for the £4,575 prize pot working as a team to navigate across the bridge. With two of the team already out before completing the task, it was Lyndsey's turn to face the final question. And it was an agonising few seconds before host, Kemp, revealed that she was correct and they had scooped the prize money. The four hugged and cheered as they were congratulated by Kemp before revealing they would use the money on a group holiday ot Turkey. Speaking after the show was broadcast, Craig said he'd always wanted to be a contestant on a TV quiz show. He said: 'I applied initially one night, probably after a bottle of wine, thinking it wouldn't go anywhere but they gave us a call back and it went from there really. 'I've always liked the show as it's usually on around teatime in the background, and you end up just shouting at the screen. 'So I thought 'why not give it a go?' The 43-year-old former Courier reporter said he couldn't believe it when he found out his application had been successful. He added: 'It was filmed last September, so it's been around nine months to wait for it to come on. 'We had a brilliant time at the studios in Glasgow, and Ross Kemp is a really nice guy as well. 'We were last on the day to film, so it went on until about 8pm. 'None of us could watch it go out live, so we all gathered together to watch it on iPlayer with a wee glass of fizz to celebrate.' Craig said that the money had been put towards a holiday in Turkey in July for the team as well as several other Coaltown of Wemyss neighbours. The episode of Brdge of Lies is available to watch now on BBC iplayer.

Netflix fans rush to binge Italian crime thriller with John Wick star

Netflix viewers are racing through all six episodes of the gritty new Italian thriller, Sara: Woman In The Shadows. The recently added show, directed by Carmine Elia, stars Teresa Saponangelo and Claudia Gerini, the latter of whom is known for playing Gianna D'Antonio in John Wick: Chapter 2. 'The suspicious death of her son pushes a former secret agent [the titular Sara played by Teresa] back into action, investigating a series of crimes that grow increasingly sinister,' the synopsis of the series, based on the crime novel series by Maurizio de Giovanni, reads. Sara's last job dubbed her 'the invisible woman' for her immaculate skill set and ability to lip-read and she brings her all to this latest mystery – to uncover what happened to her son. The description concludes: 'While discovering details of her son's life that she knew almost nothing about, Sara sinks into an investigation that brings her back to many ghosts of her past. 'Keeping both of these things together is very difficult, and certainly very dangerous. Paradoxically however, this is how the invisible woman comes back to life, doing what she does best.' In the show Claudia's character, Teresa, teams up with Sara to help with her investigation and they are also joined by police officer Pardo (Flavio Furno) and photographer Viola (Chiara Celotto). Its premise has clearly hooked in fans with the show easily climbing the charts to land at number seven in TV shows on Netflix. One Reddit user, Roshankr1994, called it a 'gritty thriller and an intriguing watch.' 'The ending of 'Sara – Woman in the Shadows' leaves viewers on the edge of their seats. The twist is both shocking and brilliantly executed, tying up loose ends while leaving room for reflection on Sara's journey. A must-watch for crime drama enthusiasts!' TheAnchorAgent wrote on X. Ready Steady Cut added: 'This is six dense episodes of grounded and compelling procedural spycraft enhanced by an unconventional lead and a willingness to meet its underlying themes and ideas halfway.' Netflix has a strong record of platforming compelling foreign-language thrillers, including the Swedish show The Are Murders, South African drama Unseen and Korean series Karma – to name a few. Gerini has enjoyed a lucrative career with over 100 roles across TV and film and in 2023, reflected on the ongoing legacy of her John Wick character. 'That was a very interesting shoot. We shot in Rome and I really like Chad, and of course Keanu Reeves. More Trending 'I took that role with an audition as a self tape and I was so proud of myself because when you do a self tape you never know how it's going to be. And the director said, 'oh my God, you really impressed me. 'I really like this character, this strong woman, yet fragile. You always have to play against the main characteristic of the role. Sometimes that's what I do. 'I like to play, yes, a strong woman, but with the courage to take her own life. Go out on her terms. To not be killed by John Wick,' she told The HollywoodNews at the time. View More » Sara: Woman In The Shadows is available to stream now. Got a story? Fresh upset for Yolande and Patrick in EastEnders as relationship hits crisis

Patrick and Yolande Trueman's relationship hits the rocks (Picture: BBC) The relationship between Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) comes under pressure after cracks emerge in next week's EastEnders. Walford icons Patrick and Yolande have weathered much over the course of their decades-long romance, first tying the knot during a small ceremony in 2004. The pair split in 2008, after Yolande was offered a job in Birmingham – leaving behind Patrick, who was reluctant to walk away from his home in Walford. The pair subsequently finalised their divorce, but were unable to let each other go. After an affair in 2023, Patrick realised that Yolande was his one true love, and beseeched her to stay on Albert Square with him. Since then, Yolande and Patrick have had to contend with her sexual assault at the hands of Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler), as a devastated Patrick attempted to remain supportive and by her side throughout. However, they were both left profoundly changed by the experience – not to mention Clayton's decision to take his own life when confronted with the consequences – and their relationship continues to reckon with the aftermath to this day. Patrick's been acting distant recently (Picture: BBC) As the week begins, Yolande feels hurt when Patrick makes excuses to get out of giving her a massage. Later, Yolande opens up to Denise about the state of her relationship with Patrick. She tells her how she fears that things will never be the same between them again. Torn, Denise tries to support Yolande and Patrick through their relationship crisis. With Yolande questioning their future, Patrick fights for her by making a grand gesture. But will it work? Can Patrick and Yolande save their relationship? (Picture: BBC) Yolande first arrived in Walford in 2003, having met Patrick while he was on holiday in Trinidad. Yolande left her husband at the time, Victor Duke, for Patrick – with Patrick even turning down a £10,000 offer from Victor to end their affair and return his wife to Trinidad. Ten months after her arrival on Albert Square, she and Patrick were married, and managed several businesses together – including The Minute Mart and Bed and Breakfast. Patrick and Yolande were married in 2004 (Picture: BBC) Their marriage hit the rocks in 2008, when she accepted a job without him in Birmingham, and their divorce was finalised a year later. Yolande briefly returned to the soap in 2017, paying a visit to Patrick as he celebrated his birthday. By 2023, the pair were having a fully-fledged affair behind her new partner Anton's back. Realising that Yolande was his one true love, Patrick fought for Yolande, and managed to convince her to return home. Patrick supported Yolande in after her experience with Pastor Clayton (Picture: BBC) Patrick and Yolande are one of EastEnders' most beloved soap couples, and the warmth of that relationship extends behind the scenes, to actors Rudolph and Angela. Of her screen partnership with Rudolph, Angela said: 'I feel very comfortable with Rudolph – he's my brother, my friend, my uncle, he's everybody! 'There's a bit of every relative I have in him. We've known each other for so many years. 'I played his maid first when I was a young girl in a play, then I played his daughter in a TV movie, and then I came to play his girlfriend and then wife at EastEnders. 'It's a long relationship of love and respect, and I could play any character with him. There is a deep friendship between us; we trust each other and have each other's back. It's all very natural with him.' If you've got a soap or TV story, video or pictures get in touch by emailing us soaps@ – we'd love to hear from you.
