Sanders will now compete with a number of other quarterbacks including Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, Kenny Pickett and Deshaun Watson to battle for the job of QB1 in Cleveland.

Browns Pushed to Sign 11,000-Yard Receiver in Free Agency

Browns Pushed to Sign 11,000-Yard Receiver in Free Agency originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns are sorting through a litany of quarterback questions this offseason. With veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett on the roster to compete with rookie draft picks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, there are a number of scenarios that could take place before the start of the regular season in September. Advertisement Another question this offseason surrounds who the Browns quarterback will be throwing to next season. After trading away Amari Cooper last season, the wide receiver room thinned out quite a bit. Cleveland failed to add a wideout in the NFL Draft and signed the troubled Diontae Johnson not long after, but there are very few options behind Jerry Jeudy heading into the rest period of the offseason. That's why The Hanford Dixon Show's producer, Pat McGuire, would love to see the Browns pursue free agent Keenan Allen. 'One of the other names I would love for us to bring in is Keenan Allen, because he's kind of a possession receiver. I don't know if you guys caught this, but they were talking about how the offense is going to be a wide zone offense now, where they're going to run the ball just like they did in 2020 and 2021, which could unlock Keenan Allen in the passing game. I would love to see him here,' McGuire said. Advertisement Allen is a 12-year veteran with 149 starts in 154 games under his belt. He's tallied 974 catches for 11,274 yards with 66 touchdowns across 11 years with the Chargers and last season with the Bears. The question is, can Allen make the quarterbacks look good? That might be something the team wants to ask before signing a veteran wideout if that's the direction GM Andrew Berry wants to go. 'Everybody Has Opinions!' Browns WR Hopes to Put Sketchy Past Behind Him

'Everybody Has Opinions!' Browns WR Hopes to Put Sketchy Past Behind Him originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns hope to have solved their quarterback problem this season. With two veterans and two rookies in camp this summer, they've got options for who will be throwing the ball in 2025. Advertisement What they don't have is a lot of options for guys catching those balls. Cleveland has just two receivers on their summer roster who have caught at least 50 passes in a season. Jerry Jeudy and Diontae Johnson. And Johnson is a question mark. Johnson had a drama-filled season in 2024 and played for three different teams. He led the Panthers with 30 catches and 357 yards over the first two months of the season before being traded to Baltimore, where he lasted seven weeks and caught one pass. He was also suspended by Baltimore for refusing to enter a game against the Eagles on Dec. 1. The Ravens waived him not long after, and he was claimed by the Texans. Houston waived him three weeks later after he became emotional about playing just 15 plays in the Wild Card game against the Chargers. Advertisement Now, he'll try to clear his head in Cleveland, where he spoke during minicamp for the first time about last season. "I don't want to speak on a lot of stuff," Johnson said. "Everybody's going to have their opinions, you know what I'm saying? So at the end of the day, I'm the only one in that room that really know what's going on. They're entitled to their own opinion, so I can only go off of what I know and then try to go off what I put out there and my best effort. But like I said, last year is last year. I'm trying to change that narrative and move the right way and keep going." The Browns took a flyer on Johnson on a one-year deal for the veteran minimum with no guaranteed money. Johnson also said Cleveland was the only team that reached out to him. And so far, head coach Kevin Stefanski has been impressed. Advertisement "Diontae's doing a nice job," Stefanski said Tuesday. "Obviously, getting up to speed with terminology and those types of things, and I think we'll just continue to work. But it's good to have him out here." In what could be his last chance in the NFL, Johnson will need to impress this upcoming season. And it wouldn't hurt if he caught about 50 passes ... from whoever is throwing the ball for the Browns. Woman unknowingly bonds with Travis Hunter on an airplane: ‘Nicest young man'

One woman had 'the most wonderful flight home' from Denver, Colorado, thanks to her seat companion: NFL rookie Travis Hunter. Sandy Hawkins Combs shared in a Facebook post May 10 that she met 'the nicest young man' sitting beside her on a plane. Advertisement 'He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying 'yes ma'am' or 'no ma'am,'' she recalled in the post. 'Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson — so polite.' People then began walking by their seats and congratulating the man, according to Combs, who had no clue whom she was seated beside. 'I turned and asked him, 'Who am I sitting next to?' I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, 'Are you an athlete?'' she wrote. 'He smiled and said, 'I'm Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.'' Unbeknownst to her, Combs was sitting next to a newly minted Jacksonville Jaguars player. Travis Hunter and Sandy Hawkins Combs. (via Facebook) 'I already told my sons I want his jersey,' Combs wrote. Advertisement Raving about Hunter's character, she continued, 'He's so humble and down-to-earth — I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete.' Combs then congratulated the Jaguars on their new player, telling the team, 'You did good! I will be buying tickets.' She also thanked United Airlines for her unexpected seat assignment. The former University of Colorado cornerback and wide receiver went No. 2 at the 2025 NFL draft last month after winning the coveted Heisman Trophy, which named him the top collegiate football player in 2024. During his acceptance speech in December 2024, Hunter became emotional when thanking his family — specifically his dad, Travis Hunter Sr. — for sacrifices they made allowing him to play and excel at his sport. Advertisement 'I want to say something to my father. He's not here. But I know you're watching on TV,' Hunter said, wiping tears from his eyes. 'Dad, I love you. All the stuff you went through, man. Now, look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man.' In March 2024, Hunter memorably surprised his mom with a home in Savannah, Georgia, capturing her reaction in a heartwarming video posted to YouTube. Before showing his mom her new abode, Hunter described the five-bedroom house as 'very, very nice' to his camerawoman and fiancée, Leanna Lenee. When his mom, Ferrante Edmonds, realized she was just gifted a beautiful home, gold confetti erupted into the air amid plenty of smiles and laughter. This article was originally published on
