The 20th anniversary of the God of War series is upon us, and PlayStation has just announced a range of new merch and updates to celebrate – but, sadly, the announcements do not include the long-awaited remaster of the original PS2 and PS3 games.
On Thursday, March 20, the Dark Odyssey Collection is coming to God of War Ragnarok as a free update on PS5, PS4, and PC. "Inspired by the working name of God of War (2005) and the skin that originally appeared in God of War II as a reward for beating the game on God Mode difficulty, we are bringing the classic black and gold theme for the 20th anniversary," according to the announcement on the PlayStation Blog.
The update will include a new skin and armor set for Kratos, as well as fresh looks for Atreus and Freya, new weapon appearances and attachments, and a selection of new shield appearances. Once your game is patched, you'll be able to grab those items "from any Lost Items chest in the base game or automatically while in Valhalla," the announcement explains.
The rest of the announcement includes a fan kit with some digital goodies, an art show in LA, and some new merch like art and retrospective books, a vinyl soundtrack collection, t-shirts, and a 67-inch Jörmungandr plush. I have a pretty intense snake phobia and I still think that fuzzy Jörmungandr looks delightful.
But this announcement is still likely to be disappointing for many God of War fans, as it doesn't include any hint of new remasters for classic entries in the series. Rumors of a "Greek Saga" collection have persisted for months, but those rumblings have never really been substantiated, even by the industry's more notable leakers. The original PS2 games and their PSP spin-offs were previously remastered on PS3, but those collections are now well over a decade old and unplayable on modern consoles.
God of War turns 20 this month, but before you get too excited, Santa Monica Studio says "there are no planned announcements" at its celebratory panel.

CostCo is the latest US retailer to confirm Nintendo Switch 2 stock

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. A Nintendo Switch 2 bundle listing has appeared on the CostCo website It's the Mario Kart World bundle, with 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription time No price as of yet, but we expect it to be around $549.99 I've got some potentially great news if you're a CostCo member and still on the hunt for a Nintendo Switch 2, as the retailer is expected to have launch day (June 5) stock. The US retail giant now has a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle listed on its website. It includes the console itself, a digital copy of Mario Kart World, and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. Stock could obviously vary depending on your location, but the webpage states that the Switch 2 "is expected to be in stock and available for purchase soon" and urges shoppers to "check back again later." There is, however, still no sign that Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will be available at CostCo. Furthermore, the retailer is limiting purchases to one unit every seven days. But after a week, it's realistic to expect Switch 2 stock to sell through entirely at CostCo given how difficult it has been to already secure a pre-order. As for price, CostCo hasn't disclosed this quite yet. But if I had to guess, given the addition of a 12-month NSO + Expansion Pack membership on top of the $499.99 Mario Kart World bundle, I'd expect this bundle to go on sale for around $549.99. Likely not the most affordable bundle out there, then, but certainly one worth considering if you'd like a Switch 2 console on day one, and are running out of options elsewhere. 'Too risky at the moment': A Springsteen covers band has been advised not to play in his hometown

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's a well known fact that Bruce Springsteen is a Democrat. Most specifically he's a close personal friend of ex-US Democratic president Barack Obama. And while many stars – particularly in the US – believe that music and politics shouldn't mix, Springsteen has never been shy about speaking his mind. Now, those opinions have had an unlikely consequence. Appearing in Manchester on 14 May, kicking off his E-Street band's European tour, rock's most famous working class hero told the audience: 'In my home, the America I love – the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years – is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration. "Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring! 'The richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world's poorest children to sickness and death. They're taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers. They are abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom,' Springsteen implored. And it didn't take long for his words to resonate with the Republican President back home: 'I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States," Trump said on social media. "Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he's not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK. 'This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that's just 'standard fare.' Then we'll all see how it goes for him!' With Springsteen currently on tour in Europe – a continent that has recently been rocked by Trump's turnarounds on NATO and random tariff wrath – it's likely he was on safe ground. However, back in the US, The Boss's rabble-rousing soon found a target closer to home. No Surrender, a Springsteen covers band currently on the road in the US to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Boss's Born To Run, had been booked to play at Riv's Toms River Hub, in Toms River, New Jersey, on 30 May. New Jersey, of course, famously being Springsteen's hometown. However, on Sunday, the band received correspondence from the venue's owner that an appearance by the band was now 'too risky at the moment'. 'This is not political for us at all,' Springsten sound-alike Brad Hobicorn told 'We're just a cover band that's trying to make some money and people rely on it financially. We're the ones really getting hurt.' Hobicorn even offered to have his band play a non-Springsteen, classic-rock cover set instead but owner Tony Rivoli refused to pay the agreed $2,500 for a more generic covers band. 'Unfortunately it's just too much money,' he wrote in text messages obtained by the outlet. 'I wanted to do the Springsteen tribute for that money… We would have done well but now because Bruce can't keep his mouth shut we're screwed. 'Whenever the national anthem plays, my bar stands and is in total silence, that's our clientele. Toms River is red and won't stand for his bulls__t.' Rivoli later insisted that it was the band themselves that had chosen not to play in Toms River, and they told that ultimately they did not want to perform there due to 'negative vibes' and 'a safety concern.' The band have now been given an alternative venue to play and are currently scheduled to be appearing at New Jersey's Headliner Oasis in Neptune Township instead. Springsteen met Obama in 2008 when he was on the campaign trail prior to his first run as president. The two shared similar, working class upbringings, dreams, aspirations and opinions as to what should be done and soon Springsteen was a regular at high profile fund-raisers and, in 2020, the pair even produced a podcast together. Renegades: Born in the USA, a series of conversations between Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen saw the two talk about 'their lives, music, and enduring love of America – despite all its challenges'. 'We are both creatures stamped Born in the USA. Guided by our families, our deep friendships and the moral compass inherent in our nation's history, we press forward, guarding the best of us while retaining a compassionate eye for the struggles of our still young nation,' Springteen told The Guardian in 2021.

James Gunn Debunks Superman Rumor About The Runtime While Offering Thrilling Update About The DC Flick

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. If there's one movie I'm looking forward to on the 2025 movie schedule more than any other, it has to be James Gunn's upcoming Superman. To be sure, I'm far from certain the movie is going to be great, but there's a lot of reason to believe it will be, and the potential for something really special is quite high. This makes it very exciting to learn that the movie, set for release in a little over a month, is very nearly done. In a post on Threads, James Gunn did what he does best: debunking the latest rumor regarding one of his films. In this case, it came from a fan asking about an official runtime for Superman, listed as two hours and two minutes. Gunn said the official runtime for the film hasn't been set yet, for the simple reason that the movie isn't actually finished. However, that day is very close as there are apparently only a couple of VFX shots remaining to finish. Gunn said… That is not correct. It's almost totally locked - meaning we're just finishing a couple VFX shots over the weekend - but that's not the running time. The runtime itself isn't particularly important. The movie will be as long as it needs to be. Given that we've seen more and more blockbusters with runtimes significantly higher than two hours, it's unlikely the movie will be edited down more than James Gunn wants. While there was a time when we might have seen a movie with broad appeal edited down for no reason beyond a desire to hit a certain runtime, that's less likely today. What's important is that Superman is literally days away from being completed. It doesn't change how many days I need to wait to see it, of course, but the fact that it's nearly done makes it feel like Superman is just a little bit closer. Max: Save Up To $41 On Annual PlansThe first part of James Gunn's new DCU, Creature Commandoes, is already available on Max, and there you can also watch every previous Superman movie to get ready for the new one. It's probably worth signing up for a year just to be able to watch all the DC content. Alternatively, its cheapest plan starts from $9.99 a month. I'd always recommend getting Max as a part of the bundle with Disney Plus and Hulu, though, starting from $16.99 a Deal Superman will make the big screen debut of the new DCU under James Gunn, and with numerous DC Comics characters other than the Man of Steel set to appear, the movie will certainly open up many different directions for a cinematic universe to go. When Iron Man first arrived, we didn't know what Marvel was planning, but with DC's new universe, we know what's happening, which makes Superman's arrival all the more exciting and important. Superman is going to be a big movie when it hits theaters in July. Whether it's a great film or a major box office hit remains to be seen, but success or failure, Superman is going to make a considerable impact. I can't wait to see which it is. How long I'm sitting in the theater is the least of my concerns.
