Activate gaming centers to open first Arizona location
State of play: Activate, which bills itself as "the world's first active gaming facility," is bringing its immersive, interactive experience to the Valley.
Its first Arizona location is set to open June 17 at 4848 E. Cactus Rd., near PV, the redevelopment of the former Paradise Valley Mall.
Zoom in: The more than 12,000-square-foot gaming center will have 13 high-tech rooms that feature interactive digital games and physical activities.
Gaming rooms include Mega Laser, Strike and Control and Mega Grid, which has become a TikTok phenomenon.
Groups of two to five players compete, using electronic wristbands to track scores and progress across each room.
What they're saying: "We're excited to introduce a completely new kind of entertainment to Arizona — one that fuses cutting-edge technology with physical gameplay to create an immersive experience unlike anything else in the state," Activate co-founder and CEO Adam Schmidt said in a press release.

Aldi employee says 'work a shift with me' and people find it 'weirdly satisfying'
People admitted they found it "weirdly satisfying" watching an Aldi employee stack shelves during a busy shift. Keeping a supermarket looking neat and tidy is no easy task, especially after hundreds of shoppers have gone wild in the aisles. However a worker, known as @MrMullacPOV on TikTok, said he enjoyed "making the store look good" as he invited people to join him for a 'facing up' shift. He captioned the video, which has received more than 10.7million views: "Work an Aldi shift with me - facing up edition." The two-minute clip shows him placing items in neat stacks and taking away empty carboard boxes - and people loved it. One said: "The things I'd do to have a retail job where I do nothing but face ups." A second replied: "This is so weirdly satisfying to watch." A third revealed: "This is the most therapeutic thing I've ever watched." "I loved facing up, the most satisfying part of a shift," said a fellow store worker. Another said: "I do this when I go to Aldi, and I am not an employee! "Annoys me that others customers leave the shelves messy." However not everyone was a fan. TikTok sensation Talibelico unites Punjabi, Mexican roots through banda music
An exploding new talent is turning heads in Modesto for both his voice and his look. A 26-year-old TikTok sensation calls himself Talibelico — a combined term for magical impact, "talisman," and a style of movement in dance, "belico." His style and look have created a connection between the Punjabi and Mexican communities. His father is Indian and his mother is from Mexico. I sat down with Talibelico to ask what motivates his music. "It makes me happy. The banda makes me happy and I love what I'm doing, singing corridos and music," he said. Banda is the style of music he plays. Those who play with him say they were surprised when they met the man behind the voice. Juan Gallardo, who plays guitar, told CBS13 about the first time he heard Talibelico. "I seen him on TikTok a while back, back in 2023, and the first video I seen, I was like, 'He speaks Spanish,' " Gallardo said. Gallardo went on to say, "It's music that surely makes you want to move your feet, makes you want to dance, makes you want to get out of your comfort zone and just go at it." But it's not all fun lyrics for Talibelico. He has taken on more serious topics like the recent immigration raids, making several videos to try and calm the fears in the modesto community and elsewhere. In fact, he's working on a song about immigration concerns. But for now, the message takes a backseat to the music. Talibelico will be performing live this Sunday at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
