Why Hans Zimmer's Passed on Scoring MCU Films: 'I've Done the Trifecta'
Hans Zimmer is still not interested in joining the MCU.
The two-time Oscar-winning composer has previously said how he's 'retired' from working on superhero films after 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was apparently 'very hard' to work on. He's already worked on The Dark Knight trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Wonder Woman 1984 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. However, when it came to teaming up with Marvel, officially, he's declined.

'Are you yourself kind of superheroed out? I'm kind of surprised the official MCU has never come calling or if they have, you've said no?' Josh Horowitz asked Zimmer on Thursday's Happy Sad Confused podcast episode.
Zimmer responded, 'They have, and it was always — timing wasn't great. And really, quite honestly, I'm looking for other things right now. Look, I've done the trifecta. I've done Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman! I mean, what do you want me to do? Some of the minor characters? Probably yes.'
Horowitz chimed in, adding, 'This is Hans Zimmer, folks. Come on!'
Zimmer then noted, 'That was very arrogant of me to say that but actually Kevin Feige said that to me, 'Hans, what are you complaining about?''
While his work in superhero films is over, his friendships and professional relationships with his collaborators remain strong. Most notably, with Christopher Nolan, who Zimmer worked with on Inception and then Interstellar and Dunkirk after The Dark Knight trilogy.
Zimmer added that he's also not interested in working on any Star Wars projects either because he'd have to 'reinvent' it.
The composer's additional credits include the Dune films, Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Gladiator, The Lion King, Top Gun: Maverick and many more.

The ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps' Theme Is Expectedly Excellent
The Fantastic Four: First Steps doesn't just look unlike any other mainstream superhero movie in recent years, it's also got an unusual sound to match. Following tickets going on sale for the movie, Marvel released the full track for the film's main theme, created by longtime film composer Michael Giacchino. There've been snippets of the theme present in trailers and the IMAX pre-roll for Thunderbolts*, so we already knew it would sound as 1960s as the world the heroes live in. But hearing the full thing really underlines the importance of a composer that vibes with the material and wants to make a score that's exciting and memorable music. For the most part, this is something Marvel's not really done well at, save for works composed by Alan Silvestri or Ludwig Göransson or Son Lux's more recent work on Thunderbolts*. But having memorable music is what Giacchino's always been good at—his scores for the most recent Star Trek movies are still sublime, and his Fantastic Four: First Steps work sounds like some of his best for Marvel specifically. (Starting with the first Doctor Strange, he's composed for the MCU Spider-Man trilogy, Thor: Love & Thunder, and Werewolf by Night, the latter of which he also directed.) Like everything else from this movie, the score is sounding promising, and we can't wait to hear all of it, ditto seeing the punny titles Giacchino has undoubtedly come up with for each track. Fantastic Four: First Steps comes to theaters July 25.

Miley Cyrus concealed the cost of drugs from her accountant during the making of her 2015 album by disguising them as high-end vintage clothing purchases. The 32-year-old singer and songwriter, whose battles with drink and drugs have been well-documented, made the admission during an appearance on the Every Single Album podcast. Speaking about the period surrounding her experimental album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, Miley said: 'We called (drug purchases) vintage clothes. And every time (my accountant) saw me, she'd be like, 'Where's that, like, $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?' 'It's like, 'Oh, it's upstairs.' So I bought a lot of vintage clothes that year.' The Grammy-winning artist went on to explain to avoid suspicion, she would tell her accountant the garments were 'really delicate' and needed to be stored away to 'protect' them. She added: 'I'm so glad I survived that time in my life. I would definitely not encourage anyone else to go this hard, but the fact that I got through it, I'm very glad I got to do it.' Miley, who rose to prominence as a Disney Channel star before launching a highly successful music career, has long been candid about her relationship with drugs. In a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone, she said: 'Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too. Those are happy drugs – social drugs. They make you want to be with friends.
