Report on Vision Plan 2031 by mid-December
Chairing a meeting to review the progress of works in seven districts of Kalyana Karnataka here on Tuesday, Mr. Patil said that as a first step, it is essential to effectively analyze the actual situation by gathering department-wise information.
He instructed officials to organize village-level meetings in rural and urban areas in the second stage by August 15. Further, meetings of gram panchayats, taluk panchayats and urban local bodies should be organised in the third and fourth stages by September 15 and in fifth stage, the taluk planning and development committees should prepare a comprehensive report.
In the sixth stage, zilla panchayat meetings should be organised by September 30, he said and suggested that a district planning committee meeting be organised by October 10.
To consolidate and integrate plans of various districts, the Karnataka State Decentralised Planning and Development Committee should organize a meeting by October 20. Further, the State Policy and Planning Commission will hold a meeting by November 30. Eventually, the report with focus on increasing the human development index will be submitted to the State government by December 15, Mr. Patil said.
He also directed the officials concerned to submit comprehensive information at the respective stages to the relevant committees.
'If the process is expedited and the five-year plan report is submitted to the State government by December 15 as planned, it will help in formulating future budgets and plans. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed me to ensure the report is submitted within the deadline,' he added.
He said that there is no dearth of funds as the State government has allocated ample funds for taking up development works under the Kalyana Karnataka region Development Board (KKRDB).
Sustainable development
Mr. Patil suggested to the officials to avoid allocating funds to programmes that do not achieve the expected level of success and advised them to focus on spending more funds on programmes related to education, health and eradication of malnutrition.
Many programmes remain incomplete due to lack of coordination in the policy, planning and implementation stages. He asked officials to avoid such programmes and take steps for sustainable development and ensure their implementation.
KKRDB Secretary Nalini Atul and Chief Executive Officers of all the seven Zilla Panchayats in the region, including Bhanwar Singh Meena, Girish Badole, Lavish Ordia, Varneet Negi, M.D. Haris Sumair, and officials of Agriculture, Education, Horticulture and Health departments were present.

Soon after Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her businessman husband Raj Kundra were booked in connection with the Rs 60.4 crore cheating case, their advocate, Prashant Patil, on Thursday issued a statement to IANS, calling the allegations "baseless" and said it is aimed at maligning the reputation of his clients. Advocate Releases Statement Responding to media reports, Advocate Prashant Patil released a statement that read, "My clients have been informed by certain segments of electronic and print media that an alleged case has been registered against them at the Economic Offences Wing, Mumbai. At the outset, my clients deny all the allegations, which are purely civil in nature and have already been adjudicated by the NCLT Mumbai on 04/10/2024." Calling it an old business transaction that turned into a legal matter after financial distress, Patil added: "There is no criminality involved. Our auditors have submitted all necessary supporting documents from time to time, as requested by the EOW, including detailed cash flow statements." He further clarified that the investment agreement in question was like an equity investment, and the company had already received a liquidation order, which was also presented to the Police Department. About The Case The fraud case has been linked to a now-defunct company Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, which involves a complaint by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari, who has accused the couple of defrauding him of over Rs 60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal between 2015 and 2023. According to police sources, complainant Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, alleged that the funds, meant for business expansion, were diverted for personal use. He said that Rajesh Arya had introduced him to the celebrity couple, who at the time were the directors of Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a home shopping and online retail company in which the couple reportedly held a combined 87.6 per cent stake. Complaint Filed Initially, the complaint was filed at Juhu Police Station under sections related to cheating and forgery. However, given the financial scale of the case, exceeding Rs 10 crore, the investigation was transferred to the EOW following a preliminary inquiry. Kothari claimed that the accused initially sought a loan of Rs 75 crore at 12 per cent interest but later urged him to structure it as an investment to avoid higher tax liability. In return, they allegedly promised monthly returns along with repayment of the principal amount.
