Sarah Michelle Gellar & More Pen Heartbreaking Tribute to Shannen Doherty 1 Year after Her Death
Shannen Doherty is being remembered by her loved ones on the first anniversary of her death.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rose McGowan, Tori Spelling, and Holly Marie Combs were among those who paid tribute to Doherty on Sunday, July 13, one year after she died from cancer at age 53.
Sharing a
video
featuring various photos of the pair throughout the years — which was set to the tune of Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again" — Gellar, 48, simply captioned her post with a broken heart emoji.
McGowan, 51, for her part, shared various posts on her Instagram Stories, including a
throwback
photo of the late star, while Combs, 51, included #ShandoSunday, a hashtag used to honor and remember Doherty, with her own post.
Spelling, 52, shared a slew of photos on
of herself with Doherty, along with a lengthy message about how she has navigated her grief since her friend's death.
"It's been a year," she began. "Grief is weird. It presents itself in different ways and at different times but never fades. Just like your memory. In fact, it burns epically in my soul more and more as the days pass."
"You and I already told the beginning of our story. The evolution of our story. Now I'm living the after," she added before sharing some of the important life lessons Doherty taught her.
Among them, Spelling said, "You taught me to turn my power on and let it shine," explaining how she tried to live that out this past year.
"I've tried hard to be the power you believed I could be. … I've honored you by telling the truth louder. By choosing softness when I could've chosen armor. And by saying 'no' more than I ever used to —because you would've."
Doherty's longtime publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed her death in a statement to PEOPLE in 2024.
She said the actress "was surrounded by her loved ones, as well as her dog, Bowie," at the time of her death.
Many of the late star's famous friends and former costars, including her Beverly Hills, 90210, and Charmed castmates, remembered her after her death with moving social media tributes.
Doherty's mother, Rosa Doherty, also remembered her daughter, telling the outlet in an exclusive statement, "She is my beautiful girl and my heart."
Months after Doherty's death, her former costars shared memories of her during panels for Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210 at 90s Con Florida.
Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris honored the star at their panel, with Green, 51, calling Doherty "incredibly brave," as Carteris, 64, spoke about how the "Charmed" star "really inspired" others on their own cancer journeys.
During the Charmed panel, Combs, McGowan, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory and Drew Fuller filmed a live episode of the "House of Halliwell" podcast, where Green joined them as a special guest.
"What a powerhouse," McGowan said of the late actress, while Gregory, 54, remembered how her former co-star was often "sharing joy," as she also praised her "beauty and vibrancy."

Demi Lovato Releases New Single "Fast," First from Upcoming Album
Yara Sameh Demi Lovato is back and ready for life in the fast lane. The "Child Star" director released her latest single 'Fast' on Thursday night, the first from her upcoming ninth studio album. Lovato teased the track on social media earlier this month before officially announcing its arrival. In one mid-July Instagram video, the singer-actress lip-synced to the lyrics of the track, singing, ''Cause baby honestly / I just wanna feel your hands all over me / Over and over / Right where they wanna be / Even if it's only for tonight.' Lovato released an accompanying music video with the track, where she could be seen amongst a slate of burning cars while singing the chorus: 'I wanna go fast / I wanna go hard / I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are.' Entitled 'Fast,' the single marks Lovato's return to the pop music genre after she'd previously tapped into rock in her previous record Holy Fvck. Her ninth album will be executive produced by music producer Zhone, who has notably collaborated with Kesha, Troye Sivan and Charli xcx. 'It's been so inspiring working with Demi and experiencing her journey of continued leveling up,' Zhone told Rolling Stone . 'She is such a master in the studio. This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun making this music! It really comes across throughout.' The Camp Rock star's most recent release was Revamped, which literally revamped and remixed tracks from her sprawling discography. 'Fast's' arrival comes almost a year after Lovato made her directorial debut with her documentary Child Star, which shed light on 'the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world's most well-known former child stars.' The doc featured interview with Drew Barrymore, JoJo Siwa, Christina Ricci, Kenan Thompson, Raven-Symoné and Alyson Stoner, among others. Lovato, too, recently tied the knot with Jordan 'Jutes' Luts earlier this year. Listen to 'Fast' below. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
