Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice faces sentencing for 2024 accident

Yahoo18 hours ago
The Kansas City Chiefs get some clarity regarding the immediate future of wide receiver Rashee Rice after Thursday's report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. According to his report, the talented young receiver will likely be suspended to start the 2025 regular season.
"A Dallas County judge just sentenced Chiefs WR Rashee Rice to five years probation and 30 days of jail time that can be served during those five years stemming for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason." posted Schefter with a follow up, "With today's ruling from a Dallas County judge, the expectation now is that Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will serve his suspension during this upcoming season."
The Chiefs have been waiting for a ruling on the March 30, 2024, accident, in which, according to police, Rice was driving a Lamborghini at high speed and caused an accident that injured multiple people.

Schefter immediately posted a response from NFL communications, Brian McCarthy: "We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter, which remains under review."
Rice had led the Chiefs and was amongst the league leaders in receiving last season before his Week 4 injury against the Los Angeles Chargers. He continues to post the occasional rehab video, repairing the strength lost in his knee as Kansas City's offense hopes to feature him alongside Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown and Xavier Worthy as weapons from the wide receiver position for Patrick Mahomes.

CNN Panel Erupts Over Trump Attacking Obama: ‘No, I'm Not Gonna Calm Down!'

CNN host Abby Phillip oversaw a heated debate Tuesday over President Donald Trump's recent attacks against former President Barack Obama, which included him sharing an artificial intelligence-generated video of Obama being arrested and in prison. Trump shared the video on Sunday on social media after his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, issued a report Friday accusing the Obama White House of a 'treasonous conspiracy' by stating Russia aimed to help Trump win the 2016 presidential election. 'He's accusing a former president of treason, and on top of that, saying ... 'It may not be right, but I'm gonna go after them anyway,'' Phillip said Tuesday. 'What is he talking about? And what kind of country are we living in that is actually what he is doing?' Her panelists quickly clashed over the subject, as Republican consultant Brad Todd argued in a seeming attempt to excuse Trump's behavior that Democrats have accused him of for several years of rigging the 2016 election with Russia's help. 'Oh my God,' replied Keith Boykin, a former White House aide to President Bill Clinton. 'Why are we talking about this? This is not the issue. You're trying to avoid the subject.' Todd noted that a spokesperson for Obama reiterated Tuesday that Russia tried but failed to manipulate any votes in the election. He appeared far angrier about 'every liberal in America' supposedly believing otherwise, however, than about Trump accusing Obama. 'You're doing everything possible not to talk about the fact that the ... current president of the United States, just accused a former president of treason and suggested a prosecution of that former president with no evidence!' Boykin said. 'That is the problem!' Boykin: The current president just accused a former president of treason and suggested a prosecution of that former president with no You can calm down. — Acyn (@Acyn) July 23, 2025 'You can calm down,' Todd responded. 'No, I'm not gonna calm down!' Boykin replied. 'Why don't you talk about that instead of talking about Obama?' Todd argued, 'Because Obama just undid three years of Democrat mythology.' Todd was referencing a statement Tuesday from Obama spokesperson Patrick Rodenbush, who reaffirmed that Russia indeed 'worked to influence' the 2016 election, but did not successfully manipulate any votes, which has been known since at least 2020. '[Russian President Vladimir] Putin and the Russian Government demonstrated a preference for candidate Trump,' a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Report stated at the time. Gabbard's report and the fake video Trump shared only emerged after his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the late sex offender who died in jail while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, hit fever pitch — leading many to believe these stunts are mere distractions. 'The problem is, this is what Trump does. He distracts everybody. He's talking about President Obama because he doesn't want to talk about Epstein,' said Boykin. 'He's doing everything possible except talking about Jeffrey Epstein because he's trying to throw up distraction[s] so the people like you,' he added, 'Todd, can come on TV and try to diffuse the issue.' Bears $24 million playmaker could lose job during training camp

The 2025 Chicago Bears will be about how the offense handles new head coach Ben Johnson with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. Last season, the Bears' offense had a lot of ups and downs, which is why the team went out and hired Johnson to ensure Williams can improve in Year 2. One way Williams can have a better season than last year is if he gets support from the running game, but the team failed to upgrade the position this offseason. The Bears only brought in Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai, who was drafted in the seventh round to go along with Roschon Johnson, D'Andre Swift, and Travis Homer. As of right now, Swift is No. 1 running back on the depth chart, but Bryan Perez from Bears On SI thinks Swift could lose his job if he doesn't have a strong training camp."This one's obvious. The Bears inked Swift to a three-year, $24 million contract last offseason, but that doesn't matter now. Maybe they wouldn't have if Johnson were the head coach. And now that Johnson is in town, he'll decide what Swift's future with the team is," Perez wrote. "That future could very well be a bell cow running back who vaults into the top-10 running backs in the NFL. Swift certainly has the explosive skill set to be that guy, but if 2024's production was an indication of the kind of player he'll be in Chicago, it won't be long before Roschon Johnson or rookie Kyle Monangai replaces him." In one season in Chicago, Swift rushed for 959 yards and six scores, but those numbers will have to improve if he wants to be the lead back all season in the Windy City.
