Egyptian FM Praises Egyptian Community in Senegal for Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The minister highlighted Egypt's ongoing commitment to modernizing its consular services and embracing digital transformation. He revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration is currently upgrading the technological infrastructure in embassies and consulates, aiming to deliver more efficient, user-friendly services through advanced online platforms. As part of these efforts, Abdel Aaty announced the launch of a new mechanism to accelerate the issuance of computerized birth certificates and highlighted a cooperation protocol recently signed with the National Postal Authority. The agreement aims to decentralize document authentication services by offering them through local post offices, especially in underserved and remote areas, to reduce congestion and simplify procedures. The minister also presented several initiatives the Egyptian government has introduced to support its expatriate population. These include the "Import Your Car" initiative, the military service settlement program, and the 'Your Home in Egypt' project in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing, which allocates ready-to-move-in residential units to Egyptians living abroad. Additionally, he underscored the ongoing collaboration with the Central Bank of Egypt to help expats open domestic bank accounts, thereby broadening their access to investment and financial services within their homeland. Abdel Aaty reiterated the ministry's dedication to maintaining open communication with Egyptian communities around the world. He confirmed that preparations are underway for the sixth edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, scheduled for August 3–4, 2025. The event will serve as a key platform for dialogue between diaspora members and senior Egyptian officials. 'This conference is essential in shaping policies that reflect the aspirations of Egyptians living overseas,' he said, emphasizing the importance of incorporating their perspectives into national development strategies. OPEN// PM affirms no plans to sell state assets
NEW ALAMEIN, July 23 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the government does not plan to sell state-owned real estate or assets but aims to maximize returns through improved management. During a press conference after the weekly cabinet meeting in New Alamein city on Wednesday, Madbouli noted that partnerships with the private sector or foreign investors will help run and expand these assets, affirming that some properties cannot be sold due to legal and historic protections. The premier also added that the government is focusing on boosting tourism in New Alamein by expanding hotel capacity and year-round attractions. He noted that international tourist numbers visiting the city are on the rise, and the city is no longer seasonal. With new industrial zones, New Alamein is expected to become a permanent residence and job center. Additionally, Madbouli confirmed that work at El Dabaa nuclear project is progressing, with minor delays being addressed. He revealed that the site now employs around 24,000 workers, 80% of them are Egyptians. The plant, once complete, will include four reactors and is expected to produce more than double the electricity generated by the Aswan High Dam. Madbouli stated that despite the high initial cost, the plant will reduce the need for imported fuel and generate long-term savings. (MENA) H A T/S R E

Egypt's PM Welcomes Global Luxury Brands to Explore Investment Opportunities
Taarek Refaat Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met today with representatives of major global luxury brands in New Alamein City, aiming to position Egypt as a regional hub for high-end retail and attract new foreign direct investment in the fashion and lifestyle sector. The high-level meeting included Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, alongside Claudine Caviac and Ibrahim Sami—strategic partners to some of the world's leading luxury fashion houses. Senior officials from Egypt's export, investment, and trade authorities were also in attendance. PM Madbouly welcomed the global brand representatives and emphasized Egypt's strategic market potential, noting a growing domestic appetite for luxury products and the opportunity to enhance retail offerings for international tourists. "Egypt has a vast consumer base. Many Egyptians travel abroad for luxury shopping, and we want to provide those experiences here at home—especially for tourists visiting Egypt," he stated. He highlighted Egypt's recent economic reforms, including foreign exchange liberalization, which have stabilized currency markets and improved the investment environment. The government is actively working to support "shopping tourism" as part of broader economic diversification goals. Minister Abdel Ghaffar stressed the government's commitment to attracting international retail giants and detailed several incentives available to foreign investors. These include tax benefits and trade exemptions under the Euro 1 certificate, allowing goods imported into Egypt from Europe to benefit from reduced customs duties. Claudine Caviac, who has previously visited Egypt for both business and leisure, praised the country's recent development and expressed her optimism about its stability and potential. 'I'm impressed by Egypt's progress. There are clear signs of opportunity here,' she said, noting that she would conduct a detailed feasibility study and present it to leading global luxury brands. Caviac added that the aim would be to recreate a successful, integrated shopping experience for both Egyptians and foreign tourists—making Egypt a compelling destination for high-end retail. Strategic partner Ibrahim Sami echoed that sentiment, expressing strong interest in bringing international fashion investments to Egypt and contributing his expertise to the project. Madbouly concluded the meeting by calling for the development of a concrete action plan to ensure the successful entry of luxury brands into the Egyptian market.
