Multi-vehicle crash in Baton Rouge leaves two injured
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A multi-vehicle crash in the 3800 block of Claycut Road on Wednesday, April 16, injured two people—one critically.
The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the scene around 1:35 p.m. and launched an investigation into the collision.
According to BRPD, the crash involved a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 and a 2024 Acura Integra. Preliminary findings indicate the GMC was traveling eastbound on Claycut Road, while the Acura was heading westbound.
The crash occurred when the Acura attempted to make a left turn onto Steele Boulevard and entered the path of the oncoming GMC. The passenger side of the Acura was hit in the impact.
Both occupants of the Acura were transported to a nearby hospital. The passenger sustained life-threatening injuries, while the driver suffered moderate injuries, police said.
The driver of the GMC remained at the scene and was not injured.

Baker man pleads guilty to human trafficking charges
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baker man pleaded guilty to five counts of human trafficking, the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office confirmed Wednesday. Sentencing for Kevontae Reed, 29, is scheduled for Sept. 25. Troopers arrested Reed on human trafficking and indecent behavior with a juvenile charges after a March 14, 2024, undercover operation with Homeland Security at a Baton Rouge hotel. According to the Louisiana State Police, a human trafficking victim was rescued. LSP identified Reed as a repeat offender with a history of human trafficking offenses. East Baton Rouge prison employee arrested on battery charge fired
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An East Baton Rouge Parish Prison employee was fired after being accused of abusing her dating partner. Alezsha Evans, 31, was placed on administrative leave on June 8 after an investigation into alleged abuse. During the investigation, detectives learned Evans accused her dating partner of hitting her, which resulted in their arrest. According to an affidavit, Evans allegedly choked and struck the victim with a whip, leaving whelps on their arm and a scratch on their chest after an argument outside of their home on June 1. The victim told detectives that Evans took their glasses off their face and broke them. Investigators said the neighbor's doorbell camera captured the incident, which supported the victim's story and identified Evans. The victim showed detectives photos of their injuries that were dated June 1. Evans was arrested and booked into prison on charges of domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property. The sheriff's office said she was hired to work in corrections on May 28. She was fired after a review of the evidence.
