But former Tottenham manager Sherwood believes Chelsea should reconsider their stance and pursue a deal for Guehi, who has just one year left on his deal at Crystal Palace The Palace captain has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, with both clubs holding talks over a potential £35million deal. But with Palace holding out for a fee of £40-45m, Sherwood believes Chelsea could take advantage and present a more attractive proposition for Guehi. 'Marc Guehi is the obvious choice for Chelsea to replace Levi Colwill at centre-back,' Sherwood told BetBrain. 'He's a player that will hit the ground running at Chelsea, having already played in the Premier League for a few years and to a very high standard. 'They can risk waiting until next season when his contract at Crystal Palace expires, but there'll be a queue to sign him, without doubt. 'It looks like both Liverpool and Chelsea have turned Guehi's head away from Palace. Ibrahima Konate is out of contract next season for Liverpool and while Guehi might not start ahead of him or Virgil van Dijk, he'd be a solid replacement if either left the club. 'Even if Konate stayed, the best teams in the league have high quality cover in every position and Guehi would fit that bill. 'My feeling is Steve Parish will want to try and keep hold of Guehi for as long as possible, but Palace know they can't allow him to leave for free – it'd be a huge loss.' Despite speculation on his future, Guehi – as well as the Arsenal-bound Eberechi Eze – are expected to start for Palace in Thursday's Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad. Chelsea agree LaLiga move for talented youngster the Blues bought just one season ago - as west London side continue end-of-window fire sale
Chelsea have agreed a deal to sell one of the players that Enzo Maresca has been looking to offload as the Blues continue to carry out their transfer business efficiently before the end of the window. The west London side have brought in a raft of new players this summer, including attackers such as Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, Joao Pedro from Brighton, and former Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens. Maresca has also burnished additional positions, signing Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon, and Jorrel Hato from Ajax. Additionally, Chelsea have finally got their hands on prodigal Brazilian starlet Estevao Willian, after signing the 18-year-old from Palmeiras last summer. But to facilitate the move, the Blues are in need of a slew of outgoings, and while the club have already managed to wave farewell to players including Joao Felix, Armando Broja, Lesley Ugochukwu, Djordje Petrovic, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Noni Madueke, the club are hopeful of more departures before September 1. Daily Mail Sport reported on Monday that there could be up to nine stars who book loan or permanent moves before the end of the window. Now, Renato Veiga will move to Villarreal after an earlier tipped move to Atletico Madrid collapsed earlier this month. The player will exit the club to join the LaLiga side in a deal worth £26million - with a substantial sell-on clause. 'Clubs look for players that are doing well, not bad. 'For me, if there is a player that wants to play in one position, they are going to struggle. They have to adapt, play in different positions. It's a good thing for the team and the club.' As well as Veiga, other players earmarked for a move include Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Christopher Nkunku, and Nicolas Jackson.

RB Leipzig consider moves for Liverpool midfielder and Chelsea outcast - with Xavi Simons still a target for Blues
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott was in training as usual on Wednesday as RB Leipzig continue to show interest in the England U21 international. The Bundesliga side are in talks with Chelsea for Christopher Nkunku but also like Elliott as a replacement for Chelsea target Xavi Simons. Despite his affection for the club, Elliott appeared to indicate his intention for the summer when he admitted he cannot continue 'wasting years' of his career. 'It's just a situation that me and the team on my behalf have to have a conversation about, because I'm coming to an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season, and I don't really want to be wasting years of my career, because it's a short career,' Elliott said. 'I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself and the best player I can be. 'If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.' Elliott is popular among Reds supporters after 147 games for the club. Nkunku, meanwhile is expected to depart Stamford Bridge within the next fortnight. He has fallen even further down the pecking order with the additions of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer.
