Hollywood Park Studios to serve as broadcast hub for LA Olympics
LOS ANGELES, May 13 (Reuters) - A film studio and production facility set to be built in Inglewood by Rams owner Stan Kroenke will host international broadcasters of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, Hollywood Park said on Tuesday.
Hollywood Park Studios (HPS) will be located in Hollywood Park, the 300-acre site that is home to SoFi Stadium and the largest urban mixed-use development under construction in the Western U.S.
The studios will initially serve as the host site for the International Broadcast Center (IBC) for the Games, housing hundreds of media rights holders from around the world who distribute coverage of the Games.
"LA28 is proud to be the inaugural tenant of this new state-of-the-art studio in the heart of Inglewood, a key venue city for the 2028 Games," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said.
"The International Broadcast Center will serve as one of our first fully operational facilities for the Games, capturing every inspiring moment of the LA28 Games."
Kroenke said his vision for Hollywood Park has always been to build "a city within a city" combining media, entertainment and technology in the greater Los Angeles area.
"We are thrilled to expand the role we will play in the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games by hosting the International Broadcast Center and the global media outlets who will call it home during that summer," Kroenke said in a statement.
"Beyond 2028, Hollywood Park Studios will be open to welcome a new industry to our live, work, play destination and bring a little bit of Hollywood to Hollywood Park."
Construction on HPS will begin later this month.
SoFi Stadium, which was financed by Kroenke at a cost of $5.5 billion and opened in 2020, will be converted into the largest Olympic swimming venue in history during the Games and will host the opening ceremony along with LA Memorial Coliseum.

The ban, scheduled to go into effect Monday, is likely to be challenged in court. "I actually want to thank the federal government for recognizing that it's the Games writ large," Wasserman said. "We at the IOC have every confidence in the fact that the local authorities and the federal authorities understand that bringing the Games to your country is a big responsibility. It is 206 countries that are preparing to come to the Games," Nicole Hoevertsz, an IOC vice president who chairs the LA28 coordination commission, said. Those 206 countries include some that would be banned by Trump's order. Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen are the countries banned while partial suspensions apply to Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. "The federal government has given us that guarantee ... to make sure that these participants will be able to enter the country," Hoevertsz added. "... We are very confident that this is going to be accomplished." While athletes and others affiliated with the Los Angeles Games might be exempt from the ban, it says nothing about fans who ordinarily travel for the Olympics and World Cup. In addition to the 2028 Olympics, the United States is co-hosting the men's World Cup next summer with Canada and Mexico. But Wasserman said he doesn't anticipate the travel ban affecting ticket sales, answering with a flat "No" when he was asked about the possibility.

The alleged test administered by the International Boxing Association is said to have determined that Khelif and Yu-Ting have male XY chromosomes. The pair, however, were permitted to compete by the IOC because of their female passport statuses, to the fury of many. Less than a year after the scandal, World Boxing announced all participants in competitions under their jurisdiction will have to undergo sex testing. And Khelif won't be in action at their first event since the announcement in Eindhoven having missed the deadline to register. Eindhoven Cup media director Dirk Renders said: "The decision of Imane's exclusion is not ours. We regret it. Mayor of Eindhoven Joren Dijsselbloem has blasted World Boxing's decision to implement mandatory sex testing. In a letter to the Dutch Boxing Federation and the International Boxing Federation, he said: "As far as we are concerned, all athletes are welcome in Eindhoven. "Excluding athletes based on controversial 'gender tests' certainly does not fit in with that.
