HGTV announces a ‘Bachelor' mansion renovation series. Here are the details

NBC News15-05-2025
The famous 'Bachelor' mansion, which has been a staple in the long-running reality dating franchise for decades, is getting a makeover.
On May 14, Warner Bros. Discovery announced in a press release that HGTV is partnering with Bachelor Nation for a new renovation show. 'Renovating the Bachelor Mansion,' a working title for the series, will premiere in 2026 on HGTV and HBO Max and feature Bachelor Nation alums as the competitors.
'Now, HGTV shines the light on this recognizable estate, giving the property the facelift it finally deserves,' Warner Bros. Discovery said.
On the show, past 'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette' contestants 'who possess expert reno skills return to the house to duke it out in various design challenges with the hope of winning a cash prize.'
The 'Bachelor' mansion, where the contestants arrive during every season premiere dressed to the nines for their limo entrances, is located in Agoura Hills, California. Filming for 'The Bachelor' and 'The Bachelorette' has consistently taken place at the residence throughout the years, with the exception of the seasons that were shot during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The most recent season of 'The Bachelorette,' starring Jenn Tran as the lead, also strayed from the norm. Episode One of Season 21 was filmed at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, California, 'Entertainment Tonight' revealed in 2024. But for Grant Ellis' season of 'The Bachelor,' which premiered in January, the show returned to the iconic mansion.
HGTV's upcoming crossover with ABC comes as 'The Bachelor' franchise undergoes a series of changes. Variety reported in February that 'The Bachelorette' will not air this year, a first for the show since it took a hiatus from 2005 to 2008. Then, ABC revealed in April that a newcomer, 66-year-old former NFL player Mel Owens, will lead Season Two of 'The Golden Bachelor' this fall.
Next up for the 'Bachelor' franchise is the return of 'Bachelor in Paradise,' which hasn't aired since 2023. After filming in Mexico for past seasons, Season 10 of 'Bachelor in Paradise' will head to Costa Rica, the network shared in an April press release. It will change its format by featuring contestants from the 'Golden' spinoff shows, as well.

Bachelorette star Lee Elliott seen moving out of marital home he shared with ex Georgia Love - as he's seen gathering belongings after split

Lee Elliott was all business on Saturday as he moved out of the Melbourne home he once shared with ex Georgia Love. The couple, who fell in love on the 2016 season of The Bachelorette, announced their split in May following months of speculation. But things were made official over the weekend as Lee, 43, arrived at their marital home in his work ute while wearing moving clothes. Rugging up against a chilly Melbourne morning, Lee wore a navy-blue hooded jacket over a similarly coloured T-shirt. He also wore a pair of mauve shorts and sensible white sneakers with matching socks. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. While Georgia, 35, was nowhere to be seen, Lee wasn't taking on the task solo, with a large moving van seen in the driveway. Lee was spotted carrying armfuls of collared shirts and jackets, still on their hangers, to his car. While Lee appeared in a relatively chipper mood as he gathered his belongings, it seems he became emotional at one point. He was seen accepting a consoling embrace from a pal who had shown up to help the former reality star move. It's certainly the end of an era, with the former couple's four-bedroom home in Hampton East going under the hammer in June. Their property passed in at $1.53 million after being listed with $1.5 million to $1.58 million price expectations. However, post-auction negotiations ended with the sale of the home for an undisclosed amount. Lee and Georgia, who first met on the 2016 season of The Bachelorette, announced their separation with identical posts to Instagram in May. While Georgia was nowhere to be seen, Lee wasn't taking on the task solo, with a large moving van seen in the driveway 'After nine wonderful years together, including four as husband and wife, [we] have made the incredibly difficult decision to lovingly part ways,' they wrote. 'Our relationship has been so special, and we will always cherish the memories, love, and laughter we've shared. 'There is no drama, no bad blood. Just two people who have grown in different directions while still holding deep respect and care for each other. 'We remain friends, and we'd really appreciate our privacy as we navigate this next stage. Thank you.'

Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad outrage is 'moronic': White House

"This warped, moronic and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024," he wrote on X July 29, in response to an MSNBC op-ed that said it was "fair" to condemn Sweeney's ad. He added that people are "tired of this" and using a profanity. Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle jeans ad sparks controversy: Here's why The ad campaign, made in a larger partnership between the "Euphoria" actress and the popular brand, used wordplay to describe Sweeney, 27, who appears in jeans as having "good genes." Critics have said the jeans campaign amounts to a dog whistle for eugenics and a glorification of whiteness. Sydney Sweeney critics compare jeans campaign to Brooke Shields' Calvin Klein ad In one of several videos for the advertising blitz, Sweeney, clad in a denim-on-denim outfit, says: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color." "My jeans are blue," she says as the camera pans across her blue denim and her blue eyes. Texas Republican Ted Cruz also took to X on July 29 to blast the left for criticizing the ad. "Wow. Now the crazy Left has come out against beautiful women. I'm sure that will poll well...." he wrote. Other notable figures adding their two cents include "Bachelor" star Gabby Windey and even Doja Cat, who mocked the ad in a TikTok video.

Heather Rae El Moussa breaks silence on HGTV bloodbath as she speculates over show's return

Heather Rae El Moussa has spoken out after her show, The Flipping El Moussas, was cancelled by HGTV. In recent weeks, the channel has axed Farmhouse Fixer, Izzy Does It, Christina on the Coast, Married to Real Estate, Battle on the Beach, and Bargain Block, as well as the program Heather fronted with her husband, Tarek El Mouusa. In a new interview, the Selling Sunset star, 37, addressed the cancelation news and poured doubt over whether her other show, The Flip Off, will come back. 'Obviously, I do know they are going through big internal changes, so I'm not quite sure what's going on there,' Heather said. 'I don't have a statement for that, but I can say how much I've enjoyed being on HGTV.' Heather also told Us Weekly that she isn't entirely sure if a third season of The Flipping El Moussas will return on a different network. She continued: 'Anything could happen. To be honest, it was a great show and it still is a great show. 'I know that the fans loved it, and Tarek and I really, really enjoyed filming that show. It's definitely a challenging market right now — and with real estate in general.' The Flipping El Moussas premiered in March 2023 and aired its season two finale just a few months ago. The series saw the couple overcome professional and personal challenges while they took on huge house flips. 'As a newly married couple, they've now combined their superpowers to expand their business and take on bigger and better flips,' the official synopsis teased. 'Tarek brings the flip knowledge and Heather brings an eye for high-end real estate. It's all about family as The Flipping El Moussas work together, learn together and grow together.' Heather also told the publication that she doesn't have 'any news' about whether a season two of The Flip Off will go ahead, despite previous reports that it will return. In The Flip Off, she and Tarek, 43, competed with his ex-wife Christina Haack, 42, to find, buy, renovate and flip a house for the biggest financial gain. 'I do know the fans would love to see it back and all three of us would love to see it back,' she added. 'We will definitely throw that idea around if season two comes about. But I love my partners and my husband.' Earlier this week, Deadline reported that HGTV's bold decision to cull seven programs was to help free up some money. According to the publication, HGTV home renovation shows can cost up to $500,000 per episode compared to real estate shows, which costs somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000, and can be produced in a shorter period. 'Home reno shows are expensive because all of the materials are jacked up and on delay, the price of wood and marble and everything else is going up so these shows don't make as much sense anymore,' one source told Deadline. On top of budget issues, a producer claimed some talent were being paid up to $100,000 an episode and were 'afraid to say no.' 'They allowed their talent to run amok,' an insider alleged. 'They gave them some form of creative control and that's harming their own shows. They were so afraid of talent they never said no and the shows aren't delivering anymore. 'They kowtowed to talent and now they're suffering the consequences.' Additionally, the publication claimed that HGTV has been struggling with ratings, as well as competition from TikTok stars and other channels. 'I don't know if it's a show thing as much of an audience thing where a lot of people are dropping cable,' another source said. 'There was a time when people would just put on HGTV when they were cleaning.'
