This Morning viewers left cringing as Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary do karaoke

This Morning viewers were left wondering just what was happening when its hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary burst into song during Wednesday's episode
This Morning viewers were left wondering just what was happening during an unexpected karaoke segment on Wednesday morning.

Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were joined by Tom Swarbrick and Camilla Tominey for a chat about the nation's favourite karaoke songs. Dermot gave a quick rendition of Bon Jovi classic Livin' On A Prayer, whilst Camillla struggled through I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston.

Alison had got up to perform River Deep Mountain High, but it appeared to have been the wrong song as she sat back down and Dermot exclaimed: "God knows what is going to happen now!" Things took an even more surprising turn when all four hosts took it upon themselves to perform Mr. Brightside by The Killers, during which Dermot stormed across the studio and jumped onto the sofa.

Next up, Tom performed How You Remind Me by Nickelback before Alison noted they had 'run out of time' for any more as she sent the show to an ad break. But the bizarre segment did not go down entirely well with viewers, who took to social media to give their opinion. One viewer wrote simply claimed they had 'died from cringe' after watching the karaoke session, and another wondered: "What am I watching here?"
A third social media user demanded: "What have we done to endure this punishment!" and another said: "What the actual f***am i watching? god oh almighty", whilst another pleaded with the broadcaster to "make it stop". One viewer compared the segment to "bad X Factor auditions", and took particular aim at Dermot, who hosted the talent show during its height in the late 2000s.

They wrote: "That was a performance worthy of an X Factor 2010 YouTube compilation of bad auditions", whilst another quipped: "What a bad day to have ears". Another claimed: "Dermot is forgetting he is on TV!" But it wasn't all bad, as one viewer found the fun in the light-hearted segment, and they wrote: "Dermot and Allison are so unserious on #ThisMorning I love it, they treat it like a day out!"
Moments later, when Coronation Street actress and West End star Jodie Prenger was preparing to go behind the scenes of London's new musical Hercules, Dermot joked: "God, we could have done with them during karaoke," whilst Alison noted what a 'beautiful' voice the soap star has.

The whole item came off the back of a study that revealed the greatest singalong songs of all time. Put together by Oxford professor Dr Tom Crawford, the custom formula factored in how fast the beat was, number of verses, chorus repeats and even the release date of the song.
"My research showed a preference for a faster pace, with an average beats per minute of 126, as well as a ratio of three chorus repetitions for every two verses,' he said. 'This fits with the standard structure of most pop songs - hence why you'll see your favourites scoring highly!'
Livin' On A Prayer took top spot with a score of 91 out of a possible 100, closely followed by Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody (90). In third place was Oasis' iconic Don't Look Back In Anger (89). Dr Crawford devised his formula using research from a poll of 2,000 karaoke lovers, commissioned by mobile giant Three and suicide prevention charity Samaritans.

The study found 90 per cent of people feel happier after a sing-along, with 81 per cent getting an emotional uplift and 70 per cent finding it therapeutic. And the research also identified the best year for karaoke gold. 'With ABBA dominating the 70s, through to Adele in the 2010s, the average release year of a karaoke classic is 1995,' Dr Crawford said. 'This captures the boyband craze, as well as Brit pop with Oasis, and girl power in the form of the Spice Girls, showing there's some serious maths behind a killer karaoke belter!'
Three and Samaritans are running the Kathartic Karaoke initiative to support people with their mental health There will be a special booth at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk (July 24 to 27) and The Mound at Edinburgh Fringe (August 15 and 16).
Nicki Lyons, Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer at VodafoneThree, said: 'As the Official Connectivity Partner of some of the UK's biggest festivals this summer, we understand the power and importance of making connections that matter, whether it's through technology or shared experiences like music. We are delighted to be partnering with Samaritans for the first time at music festivals, to create joyful spaces for people to connect to one another and experience our 'Kathartic Karaoke' for themselves.'

Lulu makes heartfelt plea to grieving Sharon Osbourne on the day of Ozzy's funeral live on Lorraine - silencing host Christine Lampard

Lulu made a heartfelt plea to grieving Sharon Osbourne on the day of Ozzy's funeral live on Wednesday's instalment of Lorraine. Step-in host Christine Lampard, 46, was chatting to LA Correspondent Ross King, 63, when the recent loss of rock legend Ozzy was brought up - and she asked the former X Factor star to get in touch with her. Black Sabbath legend Ozzy died aged 76 on 22 July 2025, and his family united in grief on Wednesday to celebrate his life at an emotional procession in the late singer's home city of Birmingham. Christine said to Ross: 'Lulu, yes, another music legend, of course, is with us this morning... 'Lulu, you were friends...' 'I want to say, Sharon...' Lulu replied. 'I know you won't be watching but if anyone is watching, Melinda, can you call me? 'I know they're busy but I want to get hold of you guys because I really, really want to be there to support Sharon.' Christine paused and then replied: 'Yeah, exactly. A very, very, tough time. 'But again Lulu, incredible that he did what he did in the past.' Lulu replied: 'Unbelievable!' 'The thing he wanted to do, one last time,' Christine said, as she highlighted his last gig as part of Black Sabbath on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham. Lulu said: 'I mean it's brilliant! It's brilliant.' Those watching at home were divided about why she decided to make the plea live on telly. One said on X: 'Lulu asking Sharon to get in touch with her. Painful.' '#lorraine Lulu making it all about her. And Sharon's avoiding her calls.' Some took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their confusion over why Lulu reached out out to Sharon on TV Just moments before Ross said: 'All thoughts with Sharon and all the family. 'I was lucky enough to film and socialise with them all out here, Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly and Jack. 'I had such a great social night at a gallery one night, he made me laugh so much that night. 'Of course, today, through the tars, people will think of their own memories sand the wonderful legacy and music he leaves behind as well. 'Isn't that just the most wonderful thing - that legacy he's leaving behind?' On Wednesday Ozzy's grief stricken widow Sharon was supported by her children and thousands of fans today as she laid a single rose for her late husband during his poignant funeral procession through the streets of Birmingham. The Black Sabbath frontman, who died last week aged 76, was commemorated in a parade through his hometown - with his family pausing at Black Sabbath Bridge to an outpouring of love from the crowd. Sharon and Ozzy's children Jack, Kelly and Aimee laid their own floral tributes at the site - and made a peace sign as they gestured their gratitude to fans - while accompanied by Ozzy's son Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley. The funeral cortege was led by a live brass band, Bostin' Brass, who performed versions of Black Sabbath songs such as Iron Man, as thousands of tearful devotees lined the streets and sang along in Ozzy's memory. Huge crowds gathered along the route hours in advance of the 1pm start, to pay their respects to the Prince of Darkness whose hits included Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. The hearse carrying the singer's coffin - adorned with purple flowers spelling out 'Ozzy' - passed the star's childhood home in Lodge Road, Aston, shortly after midday. Flowers had been placed outside the terraced property, close to Villa Park while the owners of the house put up a picture of Osbourne in the front bay window. Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.

Newly-married Jack P. Shepherd and wife Hanni Treweek share update on loved-up Italian honeymoon after he poked fun at trip

Newly-married Jack P Shepherd and his wife Hanni Treweek gave a glimpse into their romantic honeymoon at the Amalfi Coast, Italy on Instagram on Wednesday. The actor, 37, and his partner Hanni, 35, tied the knot at Manchester Cathedral on Saturday, just over one year after he popped the question while on safari in Africa. Now, the couple shared an insight into their getaway as they enjoyed 'the famous Amalfi lemon sorbet' and a walk along the picturesque coastline. In a short video, the soap star captured the scenery with Italian music in the background before Hanni said: 'Let's go up higher baby'. It comes after Jack upload a clip of Hanni looking out to sea on Monday, he said: 'Little choppy today. A few broken plates. She added: 'A little bit too much chop!' Referencing the Goonies, Jack then joked: 'One-Eyed Willy's cave - where all the gold's kept. That's my room up there. Where I'm staying.' Jack, who has played the iconic David Platt on Coronation Street since 2000, shared a passionate kiss with Hanni as white confetti fell on them after their wedding ceremony at the weekend. The soapstar cut a dapper figure in a white suit as he arrived in a red mustang with his mother and his son Reuben, who he shares with his ex Lauren Shippey. Hanni arrived shortly after, and looked gorgeous in an elegant white gown, with lace detail and a long trail. Fellow Corrie star Lucy Fallon was amongst the guests as well as Tina O'Brien, who plays his sister Sarah, and his on-screen wife Julia Goulding. Other Corrie stars in attendance included Samia Longchambon, Colson Smith, Ben Price, Alan Halsall and Jayne Danson. Jack previously revealed he took part in the show in order to pay for the wedding. A source told The Sun the pair are going all out to make sure it is their 'dream day'. 'Jack and Hanni are having their big white wedding at Manchester Cathedral on Saturday,' a source said. They added: 'They have gone all out to make sure it's their dream day and there has been no expensed spared.' 'It's a very grand setting getting wed at the cathedral, and it will be packed with guests, including many of Jack's Corrie co-stars.' Jack and Hanni have been dating since 2017, after meeting on the soap when she worked in the press office. She later became a storyliner on the ITV show, before quitting to work as a fashion influencer. Despite being colleagues, their romance actually began when Jack impressed Hanni at a mutual friend's wedding. Speaking to OK! Magazine in 2020, Jack recalled: 'Then our mutual friends got married and we were both guests at the wedding. 'We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.' The duo then later bumped into each other once again in a Sainsbury's, which led to an exchange of texts and a blossoming romance. He told The Daily Star: 'I texted her afterwards and said 'that was awkward' and she told me she thought she looked a mess and then we started texting from there. 'I actually thought she looked fit – I just saw the girl I fancy wearing Lycra! We quickly went on our first date and we just clicked.'

Sharon Osbourne emotional as family look at Ozzy Osbourne tributes in Birmingham

Sharon Osbourne was visibly emotional as fans shouted 'Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy' during a procession through the streets of Birmingham in honour of the heavy metal star. Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy, who played a farewell gig in the city earlier this month, died at the age of 76 last Tuesday. His wife, former X Factor judge Sharon, 72, could be seen hugging the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Zafar Iqbal, after she arrived at the Black Sabbath bench where floral tributes have been laid. She was helped out of the first vehicle in the cortege by her and Ozzy's son Jack, who joined her at the event along with their daughters Aimee and Kelly – who all raised their hands in a peace sign while paying their respects. Sharon and the couple's children could be seen wiping away tears at the bench as they inspected tributes, with members of the crowd shouting 'we love you Ozzy'. Each family member carried a pink rose, wrapped in black paper tied with a purple ribbon, that they laid on top of the many other floral tributes that sat next to a poster of the star, which said: 'Birmingham will always love you'. Sharon kissed the flower she was holding before laying it in the middle of the tributes. The hearse carrying Ozzy's coffin passed the star's childhood home in Lodge Road, Aston, at about 12.45pm on Wednesday on its route into Birmingham city centre. Flowers have been placed outside the terraced property, close to Villa Park, while the owners of the house have put up a picture of Osbourne in the front bay window. The Jaguar hearse and six Mercedes funeral cars, accompanied by police motorcycle riders and a police car, drove slowly along the street on Lodge Road, watched by a handful of fans and the current owner of the house. The hearse, adorned with purple flowers spelling out 'Ozzy', then made its way down Broad Street before stopping at the Black Sabbath bench, where thousands of tributes, balloons and flowers have been left. Musicians from Bostin Brass played Black Sabbath songs to accompany the cortege, and fans threw flowers at the hearse while it slowly passed through the city. Fans also left tributes outside a mural on Navigation Street, which was created ahead of the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park, which took place a few weeks ago. One Osbourne fan, called Goose, told the PA news agency that Osbourne 'was a family member' and said they discovered heavy metal as a teenager. 'That's when I found, like millions of people around the world, that there was music that was for us, something that understood us,' they said. 'We knew that there was somebody out there that felt the way that we did and it was a constant presence. 'Ozzy helped give that to the world. He was a family member. He felt like a family member to so many people and he touched so many people's lives.' Evie Mayo, from Wolverhampton, said the heavy metal star had inspired her and everyone in Birmingham. She told PA: 'I think he was so influential, he was such an inspirational person. I think he really impacted everyone here, especially in Birmingham as well. 'Now that he's not here any more, you can feel the impact of it. He inspired a lot of people and he was a great person.' She added: 'He inspired me by… I love his music, absolutely love his music. I'm learning guitar so that I can learn some of his songs.' Osbourne and his Black Sabbath bandmates – Terence 'Geezer' Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward – were recently given the freedom of the city of Birmingham, which recognises people's exceptional service to the city. The group, which formed in 1968, is widely credited with defining and popularising the sound of heavy metal. Osbourne, who also had a successful solo career, found a new legion of fans when he appeared in the 2000s reality TV series The Osbournes, starring alongside his wife Sharon and two youngest children, Kelly and Jack. The music star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, performed his last gig on July 5 in a concert that also saw performances from the likes of Anthrax, Metallica and Guns N' Roses. Osbourne died just over two weeks after Black Sabbath were reunited barely two miles from where they first played together more than 50 years ago.
