Hollyoaks star Callum Kerr begs friends of 'murdered mum' not to attend stepdad's funeral
Hollyoaks and Netflix actor Callum Kerr and his sister Amanda Kerr have issued a blistering statement to urge people not to attend the funeral of their stepdad Andrew Searle. Andrew and his wife Dawn Kerr died earlier this year in France.
The bodies of Andrew, 62, and Dawn, 56, were discovered on February 6 after neighbours became concerned. Tragically, Dawn's body was found lying outside the front door with jewellery scattered around her, whilst furniture was flipped inside the property.
Mr Seale was found hanged with a gag in his mouth and it was initially believed the couple had been attacked in a staged robbery. However detectives later suspected that the husband killed his wife before taking his own life.
Now Callum - who has appeared in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and in Virgin River on Netflix - has issued a statement alongside his sister Amanda, where they urged people not to attend the funeral.
In a lengthy statement shared online, the pair said: "In the absence of any evidence suggesting third-party involvement in the tragic death of our mother, Dawn Kerr, the prevailing hypothesis remains that of a murder-suicide. Our mother was killed by multiple blows to the head, and Andrew was found deceased by hanging. His injuries are consistent with self-hanging, and no defensive wounds were found on his body. There is also no evidence whatsoever of any third party's involvement at this stage.
"While the official investigation is still ongoing, we cannot ignore the circumstances as they stand. For this reason, we must respectfully but firmly request that our mother not be included in any way in the funeral arrangements being made for Andrew. Please do not share photographs of them together."
They added: "Please do not attend Andrew's service if you were a friend of our mother. It would be inappropriate for her memory to be associated with a service honouring the man who, based on all available evidence, may have been responsible for her death. We ask for understanding, privacy and respect as we continue to grieve and seek justice for our mum."
Just two years ago, Callum was beside his mother as she tied the knot with Andrew. Sharing photos from the big day online, he wrote: "Not many people can say they walked their own mother down the aisle. What a pleasure!! I love you mum. Congrats to Dawn and Andy on their wonderful wedding day and here's to a tremendous life together for the happy couple."
Dawn and Andrew Searle tied the knot in September 2023 and were originally from Musselburgh, East Lothian. The pair had moved from Scotland to Les Pesquies, near Toulouse, southern France, 10 years ago. to start a new life.
The pair were retired but Dawn worked from time to time as a project manager and Andrew did freelance financial work. The area where they lived has always been popular with British expats and those who own property abroad and the Searles regularly held dinner parties and gathering for their friends nearby.

Suranne Jones details 'rambunctious' experience shadowing Keir Starmer for thriller role
Suranne Jones has opened up about her 'rambunctious' experience shadowing Keir Starmer for her new Netflix thriller and detailed one fiery moment in particular Suranne Jones has opened up about her 'rambunctious' experience shadowing Keir Starmer for her new Netflix thriller. The former Coronation Street actress, 46, is now starring as fictional Prime Minister Abigail Dalton in Hostage, and follows the events that unfold after her character attends a summit with the French president Vivienne Toussaint (Julie Delpy) and her husband is kidnapped. As part of her research for the role, Suranne took a trip to Downing Street and ventured into the House of Commons, where she managed to catch a heated moment with the real-life Prime Minister. Speaking on Wednesday's edition of This Morning, she told hosts Sian Welby and Craig Doyle: "I did go to the House of Commons. It was great because when we then built our set, I'd been in the actual place. We did see Keir Starmer having a...[debate] it was quite rambunctious." The actress noted her disbelief at watching it all take place in front of her as she added: "There was a lot of shouting in there. You don't believe it til you see it!" The UK has only seen two female Prime Ministers in its time, with the late Margaret Thatcher having served a leader of the Conservative party from 1979 until 1990. In October 2022, Liz Truss became the shortest-serving Prime Minister in the country's history having managed to survive just 50 days in office. Suranne noted the lack of females in such a role of power but approached the role with a 'fresh' perspective, which she believes was necessary when taking into account the current political climate. She said: "We haven't got a lot of women to look at, have we? But that's another great thing. What I did and women in power, I wanted Abigail to be a fresh set of eyes, and the political landscape as it is, we needed that as it is." However, Suranne, who has carved out a stellar career in drama since leaving her role as Karen McDonald on ITV's flagship soap more than two decades ago, recently admitted she wouldn't want to take on the top job at number 10 in real life, mainly because of the amount of 'baggage' her new alter-ego has to carry round. She said: "A woman, before she's even put on her very high, hurty shoes, she has a lot of baggage and a lot of things that she is carrying: the way she looks, the way she dresses, the way she's been educated. "All of those things. How she behaves with her family or her background, everything, before she starts to go out into the world and getting judged for it. "Obviously, I'm well known. People recognise me. I try to keep a private element to my life, but then I do want to show support of the charities I work for and all of that stuff, and the community theatre that I like to give elevation to, so I drew on a lot of that stuff. But I wouldn't want to be a prime minister." She continued: "The early name for the show was The Choice and I think that's the thing, the choice of wanting a job like that, the choice of your family or your country. "It blows my mind, I can't even imagine... obviously, I had to because I play the prime minister, so I did have to imagine. But these big, big choices, they're huge and so it's just making people think." The five-part political thriller witnesses Dalton being blackmailed following her husband's kidnapping whilst he's working overseas, with the captors threatening his murder unless she steps down from office.

Netflix's 'top notch' series starring Line of Duty actress hailed 'brilliant' by fans
Gina McKee stars alongside Homeland actor Damian Lewis in The Forsyte Saga, a Netflix period drama series that has been hailed by viewers as 'timeless' Netflix drama The Forsyte Saga has been praised as "incredible" by viewers who said it "sweeps you into another time". The acclaimed series is adapted from author John Galsworthy's novels and chronicles the trials and tribulations of three generations of a wealthy Victorian family. Damian Lewis of Homeland fame portrays solicitor Soames Forsyte and Line of Duty actress Gina McKee - who was born in Peterlee in County Durham - stars as his wife Irene. The 10-episode drama also features Rupert Graves from Sherlock and King Arthur's Ioan Gruffudd. Originally broadcast in 2002, the series is now on Netflix and is attracting a host of new admirers who are captivated by the Forsyte family's dramas and scandals, reports Chronicle Live. Numerous viewers have branded it essential viewing, with one declaring: "Tour de force performances from the entire cast. Very moving story with many emotional moments. Worth the trouble. "I love to watch this every five or 10 years," commented another viewer. "Long enough so I don't remember everything. It's such a top notch production. The costumes, the properties, the drama of it all just sweeps you into another time. "The cast are excellent and the intricacies of each character are so beautifully developed. People are messy, they don't always colour within the lines and this family certainly demonstrates just how family dynamics, entanglements and disfunction can warp and skew things for generations to come." "If you enjoy period entertainment this is a must," one impressed viewer noted, while another praised the "excellent acting, staging, production, costumes, make-up, sound". "Ensemble cast captured and held the audience attention," they continued. "It is a magnificent show," another person chimed in. "You can not miss it. Love is complicated. No one is absolutely right or wrong." Some admitted to being "in tears" whilst watching the drama, which explores Soames and Irene's troubled marriage. "Beautiful and so well acted that I cry every single time," one confessed. Another viewer shared: "Unexpected plot evolves in suspense filled episodes. Character development excellent. You come to know these peoples and get quickly involved in the story. I want to watch again." "Fantastic timeless series!" someone else enthused. "Watched three times since 2002 and still hits the spot. Brilliant!" The Forsyte Saga is currently available on Netflix

Robbers try to break into jewellers but are stopped by its 'boss mode' security
Two raiders on a moped tried to smash in the door of a Chelsea pawn shop owned by a reality TV star with a sledgehammer before they were engulfed in smoke from the store's security system and confronted by local builders, witnesses said. Dramatic footage on social media shows the pair pull up and start battering the door of Posh Pawn. As they struggle to gain entry smoke billows out of the store on Draycott Avenue which specialises in luxury watches like Rolex and other luxury second hand items. The shop is owned by James Constantinou who has a show about the pre loved market for valuables also called Posh Pawn on Channel 4. The attempted robbery took place at around 5pm in front of shoppers and tourists on the busy pedestrianised street where there is also a Chanel shop and other luxury stores. The would be thieves were wearing balaclavas and helmets for the foiled raid and sped off on their moped before dozens of police were scrambled to the scene. No one was injured in the incident and police are on the hunt for the raiders. Mr Constantinou, 58, who has starred in eight seasons of Posh Pawn in which his shop assesses the value of items brought in by members of the public, told Metro: 'We have very effective security measures including Fog Bandit which releases smoke when the shop is under threat. 'Our staff reacted brilliantly and I couldn't have asked more of them. 'There were customers in the shop but everyone was safe because among things there is a 'vacuum' room after the main door which stops anyone we don't want getting into the main shop. 'This is the first time one of my shops has been raided but it happens regularly to others in London. 'I think more needs to be done to deter these criminals.' A security guard working at a shop nearby told Metro the brazen attack was thwarted by the shop's hi-tech gear. He said: 'The door was proper reinforced and the release of the smoke confused them and left then scrambling to get away. It was around 5pm, there were loads of people on the street. 'They didn't seem to care after the smoke came out some passers by and shop workers moved to chase them off. They didn't look very professional thieves more like chancers.' He added: 'We have a lot of problems around here with crime, especially mobile phone thefts by lads on electric bikes, it's terrible.' A building worker said: 'They were going at the door bashing it with like a sledge hammer. More Trending 'Some of us went over to see if the staff were OK. It's scary to think what could have happened. Luckily it seemed everybody was OK and the security measures did their job.' The shop remained closed on Wednesday as staff cleared up the debris from the raid. No one was injured but staff were said to be 'shaken' by the incident. Police are examining CCTV footage and social media images as part of the investigation.
