A woman's chin was left to rot after laser surgery was allegedly performed without a medical licence.
Gabriela Pereira, 29, was arrested by police last week after performing the horror surgery at Tonya Beauty in Orlando on April 16, 2024.
During the procedure, the patient was allegedly burned by the laser after it was sitting too long on her chin, causing necrosis and painful blistering. The patient is said to have returned to the clinic eight times in an attempt to correct the botched procedure. It comes after a British man's final row with daughter-in-law before 'trying to drown her abroad.'
According to investigators, patient Kelly Coelho had visited the spa multiple times to receive botox but could not afford the £700 laser treatment.
Pereira allegedly offered to do the procedure on the hotel cleaner for free in exchange for posting pictures of her results on the Tonyabeauty Instagram account, which has more than four million followers.
"Pereira provided the services in exchange for (the patient) allowing Tonya Beauty to use her photos online as a model," the affidavit says.
The suspect posed as a technician with a medical licence, according to police. "Tonya Beauty is a very popular clinic among Brazilians, with a lot of actresses and singers coming from Brazil to get procedures done," the affidavit says.
"They are very popular on social media, including Instagram, and are known to have gained the trust of Brazilians for cosmetic procedures in the United States."
An arrest warrant for Pereira was filed on July 29. She faces nine counts of practicing medicine without a license, nine counts of practicing a health care profession without a valid license, and two counts of dispensing medical drugs without a licence.
"You go there trusting that they're going to do what you contacted them for and do a good job," Coelho's lawyer Felipe Mavromatis told Koco News.
Tonya Beauty hit back on its Instagram page and insisted it had all necessary licences .
"With over 10 years of experience in the market, we have built a solid reputation based on trust, professionalism, and excellence in advanced aesthetics," the post said.
Tonya Beauty has been approached by The Mirror for comment.
It comes after a botched surgery in New York saw a young mum die after she was operated on by a fake doctor.
María Paz Peñaloza visited Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, 37, from New York, on March 28 to remove her butt implants after he reportedly posed as a plastic surgeon on TikTok.
The 31-year-old visited the so-called clinic for the £1,400 procedure when Hoyos-Foronda, who claimed to be a certified doctor from Colombia, administered lidocaine to Peñaloza through a syringe.
Within minutes of being injected with the local anaesthetic to numb the area, María suffered a cardiac arrest. She was rushed to the hospital but died two weeks later after her life support was turned off as she had "no brain activity", her heartbroken family said.

Blood-soaked crack addict grabs woman by the neck in lift at block of flats

Lee Clough, 38, was blood-soaked and high on crack cocaine when he pounced on the woman and grabbed her by the neck in a lift at Church Walk House in Walker, Newcastle. A terrified grandmother was strangled in a lift by a blood-soaked crack cocaine addict. The horrifying incident occurred around 3pm on March 28 this year when the victim went to visit her friend at Church Walk House, Walker, Newcastle. ‌ Lee Clough, 38, of no fixed address, has left his victim so "scared and anxious" by the incident, she feels she can no longer return to the Newcastle area where her family and friend live. ‌ Prosecutor Jordan Parkinson told Newcastle Crown Court that the woman was attacked by a badly injured Clough as she entered the lift at the flats, leaving her petrified. This news comes after a man brutally killed a woman on the first date and left her body parts around town. ‌ Police shame British drugs mules by making them pose for photos with suitcases Miss Parkinson said: "He reached through, grabbing the door as they were closing. He grabbed her by the neck, making it difficult for her to breathe. He lifted her off the floor and against the wall. The incident is captured on CCTV. He can be seen covered in blood, shouting 'give me everything you've got'. She believes he was referring to the drugs she had." In a statement, the victim said: "As a result of the incident I feel scared and anxious to return to my friend's address or Walker in general. My children and grandchildren live in Walker, meaning I visit there. I fear for my own safety and I'm terrified of another chance encounter occurring again." ‌ Approximately 45 minutes later, Clough arrived at his ex-partner's house, still drenched in blood and violating a restraining order imposed for stalking her. She wasn't home but saw him on a ring doorbell camera where he claimed "I've been stabbed to bits". Clough, with a history of 25 previous convictions and two suspended sentences - for stalking his ex and drug driving - admitted to intentional strangulation and breaching a restraining order. A previous charge of attempted robbery was dismissed. He has now been sentenced to 21 months in prison, reports Chronicle Live. Recorder Toby Hedworth KC told him: "It must have been extremely frightening for her, given how she was grabbed by the throat and pinned against the side of the lift, at a time when you were covered in blood and shouting at her." ‌ Kate Barnes, defending, said: "He had visited the flats in question to buy drugs. While there, he was attacked viciously, with a machete to his head, arms and legs. "It was a chance encounter (with the woman in the lift) and he does know her. He remonstrated with her because he thought she had taken property from him while they were taking drugs. "He doesn't accept he made any threats to take her property. It's clear from the footage there was no attempt to take the bag she was carrying. "Having assaulted her, he went to the closest property he knew of, which was his previous partner's address, to do no more than seek assistance from her, bleeding heavily as he was. He is extremely apologetic for any upset he may have caused her." Miss Barnes stated that Clough, who had previously been employed and had his own business, was addicted to crack cocaine at the time of the offences but is now drug free.

After The Sun contacted BA, a letter was sent to all pilots informing them the more senior female worker 'stepped back from her management role'. It added: 'We thank her for her contribution over the last 15 months and wish her well for her return to the line.' A source told The Sun last night: 'Word had spread about her relationship with a senior pilot colleague. "It was foolhardy for management-level BA executives to behave in this way — carefully plotting a Venice trip together. It broke every rule. 'She was hauled in and asked why senior managers needed to be on a trip together. There was no legitimate reason for them to both stay overnight in Venice.' The woman was in a senior management role overseeing pilots and ensuring standards. The male pilot is understood to be 'hugely respected' at the airline, helping train pilots. Union Balpa refused to comment, despite being heavily involved in the investigation. Sources within British Airways confirmed the pair's prestigious management roles were removed. Moment thieves snatch $30,000 worth of Labubu dolls in shop break-in

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Thieves broke into a California shop and made off with $30,000 worth of the latest viral collectible item – Labubu dolls. Three hooded individuals were captured on CCTV breaking into a small resale shop stocked with the plush toy monster elves that even celebrities are buying and hanging on their handbags. A nearly minute-and-a-half-long video shared on Instagram by One Stop Sales shows the suspects entering the closed store, using flashlights and grabbing boxes from all over. 'Today we got robbed, and they took all of our inventory trashed our store , we are still in shock,' wrote One Stop Sales on the post on Wednesday. 'If you guys can share this post please and help us find these thief's.' The suspects busted through the front door of the store, which opened in La Puente just two months ago, shortly after 2am. One Stop Sales co-owner Joanna Avendano said she had a 'gut feeling to check my phone'. 'Once I checked my phone, I saw there was motion, a sound that was coming through the front,' she told KABC. 'I was watching everything, from when they got in, what they were taking. I was panicking because I was just… I couldn't do anything.' The thieves took Labubu dolls specifically, leaving behind other items, electronics and even cash. 'There was a lot taken, maybe like around $30,000 or more of inventory,' Avendano said. 'We worked so hard to get to this point, and for them to just come in and, like nothing, take it all away, it's really bad.' Avendano suspects that the criminals were inside a truck parked near her store at closing time on Tuesday. The shop had also posted videos of new Labubu dolls in stock in the days before the incident. Police swooped in and by Thursday and had helped the shop recover some of the items. A storeowner posed next to two deputies with Industry Sheriff's Station and a table stacked with Labubu doll boxes. More Trending 'Case is still under investigation, right now no further comment, will be updating if they find more of our items!' wrote the shop on Instagram. '@indlasd thank you for your service in helping us out , we appreciate everything! As well as our community that has been helping us as well!' The Labubu monsters with bunny ears, big eyes and sharp teeth are a blend of a Cabbage Patch Doll and a Gremlin. They have been endorsed by Rihanna, Dua Lipa and Blackpink's Lisa, which has boosted their demand and value. Labubu dolls have been selling for up to $500 a pop, and one sold for more than $100,000 this month. The break-in comes just a few weeks after a masked bandit was caught on camera stealing more than $100,000 in rare Pokémon cards from a collectibles store in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
