Rajinikanth starrer Coolie is titled in Hindi as Majadoor? Here's what we know
Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Coolie is slated to hit the big screens on August 14, 2025. Ahead of the film's release, the project is said to be titled Majadoor in Hindi.
The Hindi title was recently revealed by the social media handle of Red FM India. While an official confirmation from the production house is yet to be made, it appears that Coolie would indeed be called Majadoor in Hindi.
The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is making the headlines as its first single, Chikitu, is getting ready to be unveiled. The track, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has been crooned by him alongside T Rajendran.
The street-style Tamil banger will release on June 25, 2025, with a music video featuring the rockstar composer himself. The announcement was made by the makers with a promo featuring the musician alongside choreographer-actor Sandy Master.
Get 'Chikitufied' with Anirudh Ravichander in Coolie first single
Earlier in the day, the makers of Coolie teased the single track with a short promo featuring Rajinikanth. The teaser titled Chikitu Vibe showed the superstar with his iconic simple steps, brightening up the screens.
Talking about the film, the upcoming action entertainer is said to feature the veteran actor in a negative role. While the details about the film's plot are still kept under wraps, stars like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao are making appearances with pivotal characters.
Apart from them, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will be appearing in a special guest role with an ensemble cast of actors like Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and more in key parts. On a side note, Pooja Hegde will be seen in a dance sequence.
The movie slated to release on August 14, 2025, will clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. Interestingly, Coolie is said to be a standalone film outside of director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Cinematic Universe, LCU.
Moving ahead, Rajinikanth is currently working on his movie Jailer 2 with director Nelson Dilipkumar. The sequel film will be a follow-up to the superstar's blockbuster movie Jailer, with stars like Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar expected to reprise their roles from the first installment.

Pankaj Tripathi's Criminal Justice has been renewed for four seasons with zero reasons. It can be called as the Golmaal or Housefull of the OTT platform. It's almost debatable to see the terrific and tenacious Panchayat coming back with season four as well. It all began in 2020 and now the lived-in characters of Phulera return. There was something refreshing about the world that we saw five years ago about an outsider who tries to make his own space and station in a world he's completely oblivious too. This could be Jitendra Kumar's Swades. At first, he's a complete headless chicken until he begins to absorb the stench and fragrance of the milieu he's been thrown in. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD By the time the first season ended, he felt like one of them too. Just like Mohan Bhargava. Season two felt more personal and wrenching. The finale was throbbing. But the last season felt like an over-stretch. The only question you kept asking was- Was it ever needed in the first place? But before we could process the answer, we have a new season on Prime Video. The spotlight this time is on the inimitable Manju Devi played by the inimitable Neena Gupta. The backdrop is the village election. It's Manju Devi vs Kranti Devi. The quirky one liners and background music are going to keep the tone light. But the humour is now wearing thin. You can even guess the joke before the characters crack them. Panchayat seems to have got too enamoured by the success and spotlight of the first two seasons that it came back for two more. In economics, there's a concept of law of diminishing marginal utility. There's a graph that goes right up and then comes crashing down to negative. Here, the line doesn't go to its absolute nadir fortunately. Number 4 has more laughs than number 3. The last season unfolded at a leisurely pace. A father had just lost his son and took its own rightful time to come to terms with the devastating loss. This time, it's all about business between two women and we have to choose between the lesser evil. Pankaj Kha, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik have now imbibed the characters traits to the point of turning repetitive. A sense of predictability has crept in. Gupta as the fragile yet fierce housewife now contesting elections tries her best to keep the boat afloat. And Kumar is no longer the puppet in the hands of a handful of puppeteers. He's now a viewer watching and witnessing this puppetry and pandemonium unfold. He also has plans to leave. It has been five years after all. At least for us. There's no Baahubali like cliffhanger for Panchayat, and yet the makers think they have something to offer the viewers. There could be season 5. Village life rocks. But it's now time to move on. My directorial debut just had to be in my mother tongue i.e, Tulu, says Pruthvi Ambaar
From a modest cubicle as an RJ in Mangaluru to sprawling film sets in Chennai and Hyderabad, 'It still feels unbelievable. I've worked not just in Kannada, but also in Tamil and Telugu cinema. I'm just grateful to have sustained this long,' reflects actor Pruthvi Ambaar on his journey so far. 'Now, the desire to direct has come to the fore. I owe it to my mother tongue, Tulu; it gave me my first recognition as an actor, and it feels right to begin my directorial journey with it.' Excerpts from a conversation: 'THOUGH THE TULU INDUSTRY IS SMALL, IT CONSISTENTLY DELIVERS HIT FILMS' 'Since I was busy working in other industries, I hadn't gotten time to do a film in my mother tongue, Tulu. When I knew I wanted to take on directing, I owed it to my roots to make a film in Tulu,' he explains. Pruthvi notes that Tulu films rarely appear on OTT platforms or get satellite rights. 'They rely almost entirely on theatrical releases in Mangaluru, Udupi, Mumbai, and the Middle East. It's the deep love people have for their language that drives them to the cinemas. My directorial venture starts filming in September, and I'm grateful for the support from the entire Tulu film fraternity.' 'WE NEED TO GIVE NEW FILMMAKERS A CHANCE FOR THE KANNADA FILM INDUSTRY TO THRIVE AGAIN' 'I understand the trend now is to make big films and hope audiences show up. But the solution lies in small films making a big impact. Good directors struggle to find producers, and good producers can't find dependable directors. The lack of strong writing is another issue. If we give small filmmakers and modestly-budgeted films a real chance, I truly believe the Kannada industry can thrive again,' says Pruthvi, about the recent lull in Kannada cinema. Despite not having space on OTT platforms, the Tulu film industry has remained consistent in feeding theatres with content that fares well.
