Three detained for vandalising two toll booths, beating staff
Jaisalmer: Three people were detained Saturday for allegedly vandalising two toll booths and attacking their employees on Bharatmala highway on the Jaisalmer-Ramgarh-Tanot border road Friday night. Superintendent of police Abhishek Shivhare said the attackers arrived at the toll booths under Ramgarh police station area at 1am in a Bolero camper, armed with swords and sticks. They vandalised the booth, breaking glass, other items and attacked their employees. The attack occurred at two locations, 15 kilometre apart, he said. A video of the incident went viral. Two toll workers were injured in the attack. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police acted swiftly and detained three suspects for questioning. Shivhare said at 1am, the miscreants first reached the Lanela toll plaza in a white Bolero camper. When an employee asked them for toll, they started arguing. Then, armed with swords and sticks, they attacked the booth, vandalising everything and assaulting the employee. They also smashed the booth's glass before fleeing. They carried out a similar attack 15 kilometre ahead at the Parewar village toll plaza, assaulting two employees and breaking computers, glass, and other items. The toll employees fled to save their lives. After the incident, the attackers escaped, having covered their faces with cloth, he said. DRDO guest house manager leaked secrets to Pak, reveals interrogation
Jaisalmer: A 32-year-old DRDO guest house manager, detained Monday for allegedly spying for Pakistan's ISI, is said to have revealed crucial details about his espionage activities during questioning by security and intelligence agencies Tuesday. Jaisalmer SP Abhishek Shivhare said the accused Mahendra Prasad, who has managed the DRDO guest house since 2020, was found to have transmitted sensitive information about military installations and personnel to Pakistani intelligence. "Two mobile phones have been recovered from the accused and are currently undergoing forensic examination," Shivhare said. Sources revealed that Prasad, during interrogation, admitted to being contacted by an individual posing as a DRDO Colonel approximately five years ago. The impersonator, now believed to be an ISI operative, regularly sought information about DRDO scientists, specialists and military and air force officers visiting the guest house near Jaisalmer's Chandhan Field Firing Range. Sources familiar with the investigation indicated that Prasad, who was hired on a contract basis in 2020, had been living at the guest house with his family. He recently sent his wife and four-year-old child to his hometown in Almora, Uttarakhand. Given the gravity of his confirmed links with ISI and the transmission of confidential information across the border, Prasad will be transferred to the Central Investigation Centre in Jaipur for further questioning on Wednesday.

Rajasthan: MDMA worth over ₹3 crore seized in Jaisalmer, 2 held under anti-drug crackdown
Two persons were arrested here and synthetic drug MDMA valued at ₹3.5 crore in the international market has been seized from them, police said on Friday. Police said the two intended to sell the MDMA in smaller quantities within Jaisalmer town. The team intercepted an SUV allegedly being used to transport 336.4 grams of MDMA by the accused -- Prakash (28) and Prem Prakash (28) -- residents of Phalodi district. Police said the two intended to sell the MDMA in smaller quantities within Jaisalmer town. Shivhare said the crackdown was part of a statewide anti-narcotics drive. The suspects are being interrogated to uncover further links in the supply and distribution chain. According to police, Prakash has a previous case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered against him at Mandore police station. Further investigation is underway, they added.

MDMA worth3.35cr seized in Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer: Police Friday seized MDMA drugs worth approximately Rs 3.35 crore from an SUV near the railway station, making it Jaisalmer's biggest-ever drugs haul. Two people have been arrested in this regard. A search revealed 336.4 grams of MDMA drugs which were intended for sale in Jaisalmer city in small packets. The Gujarat-registered SUV used in the smuggling was also seized. During interrogation, it was found that Prakash was involved in a prior case under the NDPS Act. The police are now questioning both suspects to uncover the roots of this drugs network. This operation is part of a special campaign to curb illegal . The success is considered a major victory for Jaisalmer police in their efforts to control the drugs trade in the district.

6-Year-Old Killed, Teacher Injured After Slab Holding School Gate Collapses In Rajasthan
Jaipur: A six-year-old student was killed and a teacher injured when a pillar of the main gate of a government school building collapsed in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on Monday, just days after a portion of a state-run school caved in leaving seven children dead in Jhalawar district. Officials said the incident occurred in a government school building in the Ramgarh area when the students were leaving for their homes. "One child has died in the incident," Superintendent of Police (Jaisalmer) Abhishek Shivhare told PTI. Another official said that a pillar of the main gate collapsed and the student, Arbaz Khan, died on the spot. A teacher, Ashok Kumar Soni, was injured and admitted to the district hospital. Angry family members of the victim sat on a dharna outside the school with the body of the child. "Talks with the family members are going on," the official said. He said that prima facie, the portion collapsed due to heavy winds. Reacting to the incident, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that the chief minister should take immediate steps so that no other child loses their life in such incidents. "The death of an innocent student due to the collapse of the school gate in Jaisalmer is very sad. After the Jhalawar tragedy, the death of a student in this manner should be a matter of concern for the state government," the Congress leader said. "It is the rainy season. I request the chief minister to take immediate steps so that no other innocent child loses their life. The state government had on Sunday announced a series of urgent measures, including closure and demolition of unsafe school buildings, GIS-mapping of all vulnerable structures, and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor structural safety. School Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar, who chaired an emergency meeting with senior officials from both the departments, had said a proposal of Rs 150 crore under the disaster management fund has been prepared for repair works in 7,500 schools across 170 tehsils, officials said. The move came amid growing concerns over the vulnerability of school infrastructure, especially during the monsoon season in southeastern Rajasthan. Dilawar had said a statewide survey is being conducted by the district collectors to identify the dilapidated school buildings.
