Fatah: Egypt Plays Central Role in Arab, Palestinian Affairs

Ahmed Emam Egypt continues to play a central and pivotal role in Arab affairs, particularly the Palestinian cause, according to Abdel Fattah Dawla, spokesperson for the Palestinian Fatah movement. Speaking from Ramallah via video link during an interview on the program "Up Close with Amal El-Hanawy," aired on Alqahera News Channel*, Dawla praised Cairo's "sincere and tireless" efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza that would spare Palestinians from what he described as an "ongoing massacre." 'This Eid al-Adha arrives while Palestinians are still being killed, and the world stands helpless in the face of this slaughter,' he said. Dawla characterized the war as a "genocide" and stressed that despite growing international demands for an end to the war, real progress remains elusive. He expressed confidence in Arab mediation efforts—especially those led by Egypt and Qatar—describing them as genuine attempts to halt the bloodshed and protect Palestinian lives. Dawla also emphasized the importance of U.S. involvement, arguing that Washington is the only power capable of applying effective pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 'If it were up to Egypt and Saudi Arabia alone, we would have reached an agreement long ago,' he said. 'But it is Netanyahu who has thwarted these efforts.' read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

Moscow Rejects Ceasefire Proposal as Zelensky Accuses Washington of Lacking Seriousness

Ahmed Emam Tensions over the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war have intensified as Moscow rejected a 30-day ceasefire proposal supported by Ukraine and several European nations. The Kremlin insists that military operations can proceed concurrently with negotiations, further complicating efforts to de-escalate the conflict. Dr. Assef Melhem, Director of the GSM Center for Research and Studies, commented on the matter during an appearance on the 'Midday' program on Alqahera News Channel. He emphasized that the ceasefire initiative has sparked significant debate, with Russia viewing the proposal as a tactical opportunity for Ukraine to regroup and ramp up drone production—an outcome Moscow seeks to prevent through continued military pressure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky harshly criticized the United States for what he described as a lack of serious commitment to ending the conflict. 'If Washington truly wants to stop the killing of our troops, it must impose new and strict sanctions on Russia,' Zelensky stated. However, Melhem noted that the current U.S. administration appears reluctant to escalate economic measures against Moscow. According to Melhem, former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed reservations about additional sanctions, arguing that while they might reduce Russia's revenue, they are unlikely to yield meaningful results on the battlefield. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly offered the option of direct negotiations with Kyiv but has resisted the idea of a temporary ceasefire. The Kremlin believes that any lull in fighting could benefit Ukraine strategically, a scenario Russia is keen to avoid. Melhem concluded by highlighting a growing, albeit informal, alignment between Moscow's stance and certain political voices in the West, including Trump. This alignment favors reaching a comprehensive memorandum of understanding between Russia and Ukraine over a temporary ceasefire, which some believe may only prolong the conflict without paving the way for a lasting political resolution. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies

UN Spokesman Praises Egypt's Mediation Efforts for Gaza Ceasefire, Describes Situation as "Catastrophic"

Ahmed Emam The spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, has expressed deep concern over the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, describing the enclave as a "killing field" amid continued Israeli airstrikes and a severe lack of aid. In an interview with journalist Raghda Abu Leila on Alqahera News Channel, Dujarric emphasized the critical need for humanitarian assistance, stating that for over 50 days, no food, fuel, or medical supplies have entered Gaza. "This is a catastrophic tragedy," he said. "People are crammed into densely populated areas without access to basic necessities, making life unbearable." Dujarric commended Egypt's mediation efforts to broker a ceasefire and reduce tensions in Gaza, highlighting Cairo's pivotal role in seeking a peaceful resolution. 'We appreciate Egypt's tireless efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement and achieve calm,' he said. He also stressed the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid into the region and called for the release of detainees. "The United Nations and all humanitarian workers on the ground are doing their utmost, but the absence of aid flow due to the worsening situation is crippling our operations," he noted. Dujarric concluded by praising the dedication of UN staff and humanitarian workers, revealing that over 250 aid workers have been killed since the conflict escalated on October 7, 2023. "Secretary-General Guterres and his entire team remain fully committed to supporting the Palestinian people during these unprecedented times," he affirmed. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 ..
