Clemson is only focused on USC-Upstate as they prepare for the Clemson Regional

Clemson is only focused on USC-Upstate as they prepare for the Clemson Regional Clemson's lopsided 14-4 loss to North Carolina in Sunday's ACC Championship Game isn't lingering in the minds of the Tigers — not with the NCAA Tournament just days away. 'Disappointing as (Sunday) was, you just got to flush that and move on,' head coach Erik Bakich said. 'By the time we got on the bus leaving Durham, we had already turned the page.' Despite falling short of a second ACC title in three years, Clemson (41-14) has secured the No. 11 national seed and top billing in the Clemson regional. The Tigers will host No. 2 seed West Virginia, No. 3 seed Kentucky, and No. 4 seed USC-Upstate at Doug Kingsmore Stadium starting Friday. Clemson opens regional play at 6 p.m. against USC-Upstate, a team Bakich is plenty familiar with. The Tigers have beaten the Spartans twice this season — 12-6 in February and 11-1 in April — and Bakich is 4-1 against Upstate since arriving at Clemson. 'Our focus is not going any further than Friday and USC-Upstate,' Bakich said. 'They have a great club. First-year coach, back in the tournament, coming off the dog pile. They can really hit. Dangerous lineup.' USC-Upstate enters on a six-game win streak after capturing the Big South Tournament in Kane Sweeney's debut season. Meanwhile, West Virginia and Kentucky will face off in Friday's noon game, with the winners set to meet Saturday. While Bakich acknowledged Kentucky's aggressive style and West Virginia's consistency, he emphasized that scouting reports would wait. 'We haven't really looked at anything in-depth or in detail,' he said. 'We will.' For now, the Tigers are focused squarely on Friday night. Meet the four teams in the NCAA Tournament's Baton Rouge regional

Meet the four teams in the NCAA Tournament's Baton Rouge regional LSU baseball earned the No. 6 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, making it a Regional and potentially Super Regional host. The Tigers finished third in the SEC regular season standings and made it to the conference tournament semifinals. With a 43-14 overall record, head coach Jay Johnson's team won consistently against multiple ranked teams in arguably the toughest conference. The champions of the Baton Rouge and Clemson regionals will meet in a Super Regional matchup. No. 11 and ACC Tournament runner-up Clemson, West Virginia, and Big South Tournament champions USC Upstate makeup that half of the bracket. Play for LSU starts Friday inside Alex Box Stadium against Little Rock, the Ohio Valley Tournament champions. The Tigers also host the A10 Tournament champions as well as a familiar opponent from their non conference schedule. Here are the three teams heading to Baton Rouge for the NCAA Tournament's Regional round. Little Rock Despite a lackluster 24-32 overall record, the Trojans won five games to take their conference tournament crown and punch their first ticket to the NCAA Tournament since 2011. They defeated No. 1 seed Eastern Illinois twice in the process. All-OVC second-teamers Cooper Chaplain and Ryan Geck lead Little Rock from the plate, batting over .300 and ranking in the conference's top 10 in hits and runs. Geck's 48 RBI are tied for eighth in the conference. Led by 11th-year head coach Chris Curry, the Trojans will likely send one of their two regular starters in Jack Cline or Jackson Wells, to the mound against LSU. Cline ranks among the conference's best hurlers with 62 strikeouts and a 4.83 ERA through 82 innings. Rhode Island The A10 regular season and tournament champions, Rhode Island, finished the regular season at 38-20. It notched a ranked win over Oregon. Five players are batting over .300, led by All-A10 first team selections Anthony DePino and Jack Hopko. DePino ranks first in program history in multiple career categories, runs and RBI. His 82 runs and 19 home runs rank second and third, respectively, in the A10. Hopko's 80 RBI are second in the conference. The Rams' head coach, Raphael Cerrato, won the conference's Coach of the Year award for the third time in his career. Starting pitcher Trystan Levesque and closer Joe Sabbath earned second-team All-A10 bids. Levesque's 88.2 innings pitched and 90 strikeouts are both third in the A10. Sabbath leads the conference with six saves. Dallas Baptist Dallas Baptist boasts a 40-16 overall record and came up just short in its bid for a third-straight Conference USA Tournament championship. The Patriots placed five on the All-Conference first-team, led by center fielder Nathan Humphreys as Defensive Player of the Year. In a nonconference game, LSU defeated Dallas Baptist 7-3. Daniel Dickinson hit a home run and drove in three runs during the contest, while Conner Ware threw four perfect innings and Zac Cowan picked up the win as the Tigers combined for 13 strikeouts against the Patriots' lineup.

Phillips tosses complete game shutout as USC Upstate defeats Winthrop 7-0 in Big South Tournament

HIGH POINT, N.C. (USC Upstate SID) – Beginning its quest for a Big South Tournament championship, USC Upstate baseball opened the 2025 iteration of the event with a statement as Amp Phillips turned in the league's first nine-inning complete game shutout of the season, leading the Spartans to a 7-0 quarterfinal over No. 5 seed Winthrop. Setting the tone, the redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher from Lancaster, S.C., proved why he was named the Big South Newcomer of the Year, retiring the first seven batters he faced and permitting just five baserunners, one of which reached scoring position, advancing no further than second base. He finished the afternoon scattering four hits while striking out five in his first career complete game. Backing the stellar pitching performance, Upstate launched four home runs, including three homers to lead off innings. Redshirt freshman leftfielder Henry Zenor, sophomore shortstop Vance Sheahan, redshirt sophomore centerfielder Scott Newman, and junior second baseman Gage Griggs hit long balls for the Spartans with Zenor, Sheahan, and Griggs leading off innings. Which North Carolina schools made the NCAA Tournament?

(WGHP) — Selection Sunday is here and several North Carolina schools are getting ready to lace their sneakers up and put their names among the legends of March Madness. These are all of the North Carolina colleges and universities that will be going dancing this year: The High Point Panthers men's basketball team is going dancing for the first time in the history of the program after going wire-to-wire as both the Big South regular season and Big South Tournament champion. The Panthers had an impressive regular season and earned the No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region of the bracket. They will face No. 4 seed Purdue Boilermakers in the First Round on Thursday in Providence, Rhode Island. The UNC Wilmington Seahawks are going back to the Big Dance for the first time since 2017 when took them to the NCAA Tournament. UNC Wilmington finished second in the CAA regular season standings and won the CAA Tournament to earn the No. 14 seed in the West Region of the bracket. They will face No. 3 seed Texas Tech in the First Round on Thursday in Witchita, Kansas. The Duke Blue Devils have been among the most dominant teams in the nation throughout the regular season this year. and an outstanding supporting cast, the Blue Devils cruised through ACC play nearly unblemished en route to the ACC regular season championship and have spent most of the season ranked in the top 10. Duke defeated UNC in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament and defeated Louisville in the ACC Championship Game to earn a No. 1 seed in the East Region of the bracket. They will face the winner of the First Four game between No. 16 seed American and No. 16 seed Mount St. Mary's in the First Round on Friday in Raleigh. It has been a turbulent season in Chapel Hill. A year that began with high expectations was quickly shot down by a 14-11 start, which made the NCAA Tournament seem like an impossible dream. However, the Tar Heels rallied down the stretch and scratched their way into the bracket. UNC finished the regular season fifth in the ACC standings and defeated Notre Dame and Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament before losing to Duke in the semifinals to earn a No. 11 seed in the South Region of the bracket. They will face No. 11 seed San Diego State in the First Four on Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons find themselves among the teams just on the outside of the tournament looking in for the third time in the Steve Forbes era. After a 15-4 start to the season and a 7-1 start to ACC league play, Wake Forest seemed like a lock for the tournament. However, the Demon Deacons collapsed late and went 6-6 in their final 12 games including a loss to UNC in the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals in what was a must-win for both teams' tournament hopes. While Wake Forest will likely be invited to the NIT Tournament, it remains to be seen whether or not they will accept an invitation, however. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
