21 Little Changes That Improved Peoples Lives

Recently, u/Wonderful-Economy762 asked r/Productivitycafe, "What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner?" So we thought we'd share some of the most popular responses. "The day I realised that I should only care about the opinions of me from the people I love." "You can say no. You can even say it twice." "Marrying a man who's hard-working, kind, and puts me first. Dumping the cheater who put me last that I thought I was so in love with." "Walking, it's great for cortisol levels and the nervous system." "Having a positive mindset. I was clinically depressed for the entirety of my teenage years and early adulthood. I haven't had a positive mindset for very long but it has changed my life exponentially." "Reading. More people really need to start reading. World would be a better place." "Eating more fruits and veggies." "Getting diagnosed with adult ADHD changed my life. I could not for the life of me get myself together, organise myself, respond to emails or conduct myself in a professional manner. Then I had an answer as to why. Therapy and the proper dose of meds has given me the tools to actually be reasonably successful as a self employed artist." "Living alone. I've never had so much freedom to confidently do what I want." "Less alcohol, more water." "Setting boundaries. For real. Saying no without guilt, protecting my time and energy, it changed everything. I stopped burning out, stopped pleasing everyone, and started feeling more in control of my life. Should've done it way sooner." "Changing my diet to a Whole Foods based diet with less processed foods. My health and fitness has dramatically improved when I changed to eating healthier foods." "Getting into kickboxing. I never really enjoyed cardio workouts but enjoyed strength training… I wish I would have found it sooner, probably would have benefited my health even more." "Working from multiple monitors. Three is better than two, and two is way better than one." "Cycling. I recently resigned from a job that was making me desperately unhappy and a heavy drinker. Bought a vintage Windsor bike to get me out of the apartment and I'm out now for 1.5 hours a day, and it's become a lifeline. I live in London so very fortunate to have the sights and views that we do. There's been a noticeable change in my mood." "Choosing to be kind and smile at people." "Getting a sleep study and receiving my CPAP machine. If you snore constantly and are tired all the time, do not underestimate getting checked out. It's completely changed my life." "Working from home. It fits perfectly for my job responsibilities, level of expertise and stage of career, without sacrificing productivity. It has improved my physical health, reduced stress dramatically, improved my finances, and given me far more quality time with my wife and adult children." "Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't ask for advice." "Biking, and replacing lunch with only fruits or vegetables. I am as holistically as healthy as I have ever been in 20 plus years. Body, mind and spirit. The weight loss is a nice bonus." "The answer is always: get a bidet. You can go cheap with a Luxe model via Amazon." "Getting evaluated for autism. Grew up in a time I would have had to be nonspeaking to be identified. Grew up feeling weird and giving myself so much grief feeling like I should be able to do the things I just can't do well. Just bought myself slip-on shoes because I'm giving myself the permission to suck at tying my shoes. It's been a game changer." "Not chasing (doing all the work to initiate conversations with family/friends) people or being blindly compliant to everyone else's availability/requests to visit family. Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm!" H/T to u/Wonderful-Economy762 and r/Productivitycafe for having the discussion! Have your own to add? Let us know in the comments below!

Viksit CG@2047: CG unveils roadmap for transformation of service sector

Raipur: Aiming to boost its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) nearly 14 to 15 times by 2047, the Chhattisgarh govt with NITI Aayog, has unveiled an ambitious roadmap with a sharp focus on transforming the services sector and investing in its youthful demographic. The vision document, titled "Viksit Chhattisgarh @2047", outlines the state's contribution to India's broader aspiration of becoming a $30 trillion economy by its 100th year of independence. The roadmap rests on three pillars: economic expansion, human development, and sustainable governance. Tripling the Services Sector Currently, Chhattisgarh's economy is driven primarily by the industrial sector, which accounts for 45% of its GDP, followed by services (35%) and agriculture (20%). The new plan seeks to increase the services sector's contribution from 35% to 50% by 2047, identifying it as the engine for future growth. Key proposals include rapid expansion of digital infrastructure, promotion of IT and AI-driven industries, and leveraging healthcare and education tourism. Plans are underway to generate over 10,000 jobs in IT services, establish AI data centers, and invest in logistics and tourism development. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Experience next-level CPAP comfort with Resmed AirSense 11 ResMed Buy Now Undo An excerpt from the report notes: "The services sector is expected to expand rapidly, driven by growth in information technology, logistics, and tourism." A Youth-Driven Economy With 41% of Chhattisgarh's population under 18, the report identifies youth as central to the development agenda. Emphasis has been placed on higher education, vocational training, and youth empowerment. By 2025, premier institutions such as NIFT, NFSU, and NIELIT are expected to begin operations in the state, joining existing centers like IIT, IIM, AIIMS, and NIT. In the longer term, the state aspires to attract institutes such as IISc, IISER, SPA, and NIPER, further strengthening its academic ecosystem. Manufacturing Backbone and Infrastructure Push While services are set to expand, the industrial sector will remain a cornerstone of the economy. The state is a leading national producer of steel, cement, aluminium, and key minerals like coal and iron ore. Chhattisgarh alone contributes 30% of India's iron and steel, 20% of aluminium, and 12% of cement output. However, the state continues to face infrastructure bottlenecks. As a landlocked region, lack of port access and low railway density remain challenges. Its road density (71 km per 100 sq. km) lags behind the national average (139 km). To overcome this, the report advocates for multi-modal logistics corridors, new railway lines, and upgrading Raipur airport into an international hub. Health, Happiness, and Sustainability The document dedicates a major section to human development under the banner "Swasth aur Sukh Chhattisgarh" (Healthy and Happy Chhattisgarh). Key health targets include reducing infant mortality from 38 to below 5, and increasing life expectancy from 65 to 84 years by 2047. The roadmap also emphasizes revitalizing tribal economies through sustainable use of the state's 44% forest cover. Proposed measures include promoting herbal farming, bamboo and honey clusters, and experiential tribal tourism—particularly around non-timber forest products (NTFPs). The Road Ahead To achieve the projected GSDP of Rs 76–78 lakh crore by 2047 (from the current Rs 5.67 lakh crore), Chhattisgarh must double its economy four times in 23 years, maintaining an average annual growth of 12–13%. The state's vision hinges on bold policy reforms, large-scale investments in human capital, and robust public-private partnerships. By diversifying beyond minerals and manufacturing, and focusing on services, infrastructure, and youth, Chhattisgarh aims to evolve into a resilient, inclusive, and developed state by 2047.

Swachhta Survey: Lucknow among three cleanest cities

Lucknow emerged as the third cleanest city of the country, behind Ahmedabad and Bhopal in the million-plus population category under the new ranking system introduced in the Swachhta Survekshan 2024-25. The winners were honoured by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Thursday. Indore, in the same population category, emerged as the cleanest city for the ninth consecutive time, followed by Surat and Navi Mumbai. These cities, however, were bracketed under newly created 'Super Swachh League' and have been kept out in this year's survey. Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Lucknow have been kept under Swachh Shehar category. Overall Uttar Pradesh cities and towns showed a remarkably improved performance with Prayagraj again emerging as the cleanest Gana town and Noida topping the Super League chart in the 3 lakh-10lakh population category. Apart from Lucknow, seven UP cities made it to the top 20 clean cities in the million-plu category. Cleanliness maintained during the Maha Kumbh 2025 managed to impress the judges, with several awards being given out for the sanitation practices deployed during the mega event. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Experience next-level CPAP comfort with Resmed AirSense 11 ResMed Buy Now Undo "Marching steadily on the path of development under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, 83 urban local bodies improved their rankings compared to the previous year while disposing of and dealing with solid waste," said a state govt spokesperson. Urban development minister AK Sharma received the honours on behalf of the local bodies. Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal and former municipal commissioner Inderjeet Singh received the award for the city. Lucknow became the first city in the state to achieve a 7-star garbage GFC rating, a historic milestone. Six cities -- Agra, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj & Noida -- received a 5-star rating. Gorakhpur achieved double success, securing third rank in the safaimitra surakshit shaher category and fourth cleanest city (with a population between 3 lakh and 10 lakh). Moradabad was at the tenth position in the same category. Agra was recognised as the emerging clean city, securing 32nd rank nationally. Bijnor and Shamshabad also figured in the top-100 cities (nagar palikas). Sharma said, "The achievements showcase the collective efforts of our citizens, local bodies, and senior govt officials." Principal Secretary, urban development, Amrit Abhijat, said, "We need to highlight the turnaround achieved by 16 cities that achieved the water-plus status." Water-plus status is accorded to the local bodies that are able to handle sanitation, water management, and recycling practices effectively. For the first time, Bijnor and Shamshabad nagar palikas were able to deploy such practices. Among 17 municipal corporations, 13 were accorded the water plus status. Last time, only two cities were accorded water plus status. Similarly, compared to 129 urban local bodies that were shortlisted in the previous round of ranking, in the 2024-25 survekshan, 337 were declared as ODF ++ ULBs. Director of urban local bodies and Swachh Bharat state mission director Anuj Jha said, "Verified door-to-door garbage collection went up from 48% to 62% in UP in a year. Similarly, garbage processing was also up from 48% to 85%."

MDMA haul sparks probe into wider drug network

Thiruvananthapuram: District rural police chief K S Sudarshan constituted a special squad to probe the recent incident of a massive MDMA seizure in the district. Four persons were held with MDMA weighing 1.25 Kg and 17 litres of foreign liquor at Navaikulam on July 9. The five-member team is headed by narcotic cell DSP Pradeep K. It also includes Kallambalam station house officer Praiju G. The decision to form the special squad was taken due to the vastness of the crime and the involvement of a larger network behind it. Sanju, 41, alias Saiju of Mavinmoodu at Kallambalam, Nandu, 32, of Njekkad, Unnikrishnan, 39, of Vadasserikonam, and Prameen, 35, of Vadasserikonam are the arrested in the case. "This is the first time such a huge quantity of MDMA was seized in the district. The call records of the accused showed that the key accused Sanju is a major supplier of drugs across the state. His links with some actors in the Malayalam film industry were also unearthed. We also found several photos of the accused with the actors, including two prominent actors in the industry, on his mobile phone. He was a frequent flier to the Gulf regions and each time he came back with huge luggage. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Experience next-level CPAP comfort with Resmed AirSense 11 ResMed Buy Now Undo We think his Gulf travels were part of his smuggling activities," said police. Police said that Sanju was involved in several narcotic cases before also and was operating his drug business secretly from his house. During a raid at his house last year, Sanju unleashed his pet dogs on the police officers. He recently constructed a luxurious home. "His income source has to be verified. We are checking his bank transactions as well," said police.
