Nebraska quarterback commit wins season opener on ESPN

A Nebraska quarterback commit won his season opener on Thursday night. Dayton Raiola and the Buford Wolves defeated the Milton Eagles 20-13 in a national broadcast on ESPN2. Dayton Raiola is the younger brother of Nebraska starting quarterback Dylan Raiola. Dayton committed to the Huskers during the 2024 season and finished the year tossing 1,953 passing yards and 19 touchdowns across 14 games, helping the Wolves to a 6A semi-final finish. Before announcing his commitment to Nebraska, the younger Raiola also received offers from Appalachian State and Charlotte. Thursday's game was also the debut event for Buford High School's $62 million high school football stadium. The Phillip Beard Stadium itself features 10,000 seats, a 3,500-square-foot video board, 15 luxury suites, and a two-story field house. Buford will retake the field on Friday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m. CT against Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia. Find Dylan Raiola highlights by scrolling below. Buford High School unveiled a new $62 million football stadium earlier this year, which resembles an NFL stadium more than a high school one. Buford, located in Georgia, has produced some of the best football players in the country. The Phillip Beard Stadium itself has 10,000 seats and cost $62 million, according to multiple media reports. Buford is renowned for being a high-quality high school that consistently produces talented individuals. They went 12-2 last season and 6-0 in their region. Historically, they have been highly successful, winning 14 state football championships, 27 region titles, and 22 consecutive playoff appearances. Now, they will have a new stadium to play in, with Husker quarterback commit Dayton Raiola set to play his final two seasons. Football is big business, and that includes at the high school level. Buford is one of the top football programs in the country, and they are going to have a stadium that reflects their excellence. Nebraska's Matt Rhule flips 2026 wide receiver from Arizona State

The post Nebraska's Matt Rhule flips 2026 wide receiver from Arizona State appeared first on ClutchPoints. On Friday, Nalin Scott and the Nebraska Cornhuskers made waves in the 2026 recruiting scene when the four-star wide receiver officially switched his commitment from Arizona State to Nebraska. The standout from McEachern High School shared the news on social media just days after his official visit to Lincoln. Although Scott had been committed to the Sun Devils since late April, his visit experience and growing connections with the Cornhuskers were significant factors in his decision. Advertisement Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 200 pounds, Scott is now the ninth commitment in Nebraska's 2026 class, which has been gaining traction lately with several new additions. According to 247Sports Composite, he's ranked as the No. 55 receiver in the country and No. 366 overall. He joins three-star Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte as the second wide receiver in this class. Nebraska's coaching staff had long considered him a top target, continuing to pursue him even after he verbally committed to ASU. Scott's relationship with quarterback commit Dayton Raiola was a key factor in his decision. The two prospects visited Nebraska together last weekend and connected during the trip. Scott mentioned that Raiola and his brother Dylan helped his family feel more at home with the program. Daikiel Shorts Jr., Nebraska's wide receivers coach, did an impressive job recruiting Scott. He continued to check in with Scott even while he was committed to another program. A freshman wide receiver, Isaiah Mozee, played host to Scott during the official visit and noted several things about the team culture. Scott noticed the players seemed to develop authentic relationships with each other and the coaching staff. He liked how the player development program is set up and was impressed that Shorts has had several players drafted to the NFL in recent years—that sense of structure and honesty built Scott's intrigue towards the Big Ten program. Even with a commitment letter from Arizona State and the impressive presence of NFL legend Hines Ward on their coaching staff, Nebraska's persistence truly paid off. Before Scott's visit in June, the Huskers had hosted him during a spring practice in April, which helped him establish a better feel for his eventual future. Scott Flipping is a massive win for a program ready to increase national attention with unorthodox recruiting.
