The Galaxy S25 Edge can record Log videos with its selfie camera, other phones to be updated too

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series launched with Log mode for videos, a feature that was backported to the Galaxy S24 series with the One UI 7 update. Log videos can be recorded with all the rear cameras, but not the selfie camera – not yet, anyway. Now with One UI 8 on the way, there is evidence that the Galaxy S25 models will have Log support for Video and Pro Video modes when recording with the selfie camera for several older models. You can see the toggle in these screenshots that were shared by @DevOfIpos: Log mode for Galaxy S25 Edge's selfie camera In the second screenshot you can see that the False Color (and presumably Zebra Pattern) exposure monitor toggle is available to help you identify over/under-exposed areas in the frame. Log videos aren't intended for direct consumption, you have to do color correction first – you can do that manually or you can let the Gallery app do it automatically (using the Edit suggestion feature). Note that these screenshots were taken on the new Galaxy S25 Edge, which will be released at the end of this month. The phone will come with One UI 7 out of the box, which suggests that the other S25 models could get it as part of a v7 update. This could happen as soon as next month, according to @DevOfIpos. That may not be the case for all eligible phones, however, so they may be in for a longer wait. Enabling Log mode • False color and Zebra pattern • Color correcting Log videos in the Gallery app The Log mode for the selfie camera is apparently also coming to the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, based on early One UI 8 builds. It's not clear whether this feature will be added to the older Galaxy S24 series or not, though. Source Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6

Your Galaxy S25 phone is getting this upgrade from the new Edge

C. Scott Brown / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung may bring Log mode to the Galaxy S25 series' front camera as early as next month. A leak purports to show the Log toggle enabled in both Pro and standard Video modes using the selfie camera. LOG mode allows for greater editing flexibility and would match the feature arriving on S25 Edge. The Galaxy S25 Edge has caught some criticism since launch, but Samsung may have a little surprise planned to complement the Android phone's release. To match the S25 Edge, Log mode might be heading to the front-facing camera of the whole Galaxy S25 lineup, and it could be as soon as next month. X tipster @DevOfIpos shared two screenshots yesterday, purporting to show the feature enabled on the front camera. One of the images shows the camera in Pro Video mode and one in the regular Video mode — both times with the Log toggle visible in the top-right of the interface. That suggests Samsung is testing support for front-facing Log recording on the S25 series, which would bring the rest of the line on par with the S25 Edge. In a reply to a follow-up question, the leaker added that the update could arrive as part of the June security patch, following the retail launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge. Log mode captures video with more dynamic range and less baked-in processing, giving creators extra flexibility when editing in post. Until now, it's only been available when shooting with the rear camera on the S25 series, so this could be a welcome upgrade for vloggers and selfie-focused filmmakers alike. Got a tip? Talk to us! Major Samsung Galaxy Watch One UI 8 leak just tipped three big upgrades

(Image credit: Future) Samsung is reportedly launching One UI 8 this summer for its smartphone devices, but wearables won't be left behind. Earlier this week, leaker DevOfIpos revealed a number of One UI 8 features including an improved DeX. They also apparently found firmware for One UI 8 Watch and posted some their findings on X. It looks to be a fairly substantial update for Samsung's Galaxy smartwatches. You may like For starters, Samsung appears to be skipping versions 6.5 and 7 and heading straight to version 8. Part of the leap includes new icons with the rounder style that Samsung introduced in One UI 7 for its handsets. (Image credit: DevOfIpos) They also posted that Google's Gemini AI bot is replacing Google Assistant in the One UI 8 Watch update. It's been expected that Gemini will make its way into Wear OS, and it looks like Wear OS 6 will be the first inkling of that. Reportedly, Gemini is functionally the same app as Assistant. As part of the leak, APKs from the update were also put up by Ipos, which Android Authority went through. If you're interested in the code, they beak down APKs on a regular basis. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. On a simpler level, the APKs reveal strings that hint at how Gemini will work, which seems a lot like how Assistant currently operates but with new AI tools. The code has "Gemini Actions" listed, which include standard Gemini features like email summarization, managing calendar events or getting weather updates via queries. Antioxidant Index (Image credit: Android Authority) Beyond Gemini, the APKs also revealed a new "antioxidant index" in the Samsung Health app. This measurement would allegedly measure beta carotene levels in your skin. You would need to press that pad of your thumb against the back of your watch to trigger the measurement. This feature is supposed to help you tailor your nutrition based on its measurements. Interestingly, one of the code strings reads, "'Keep in mind that antioxidant index measurement is for fitness and wellness only, not for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. If you're concerned about your antioxidant level, be sure to see a medical professional.'" The APKs apparently held some images showcasing how this feature will work. Google's annual developers conference, Google I/O 2025 is coming up at the end of the month and we expect to hear more about Wear OS 6 then, which One UI 8 Watch will be based on. From there, Samsung should launch its Galaxy Watch 8 series of smartwatches, likely in July alongside One UI 8 and its foldable phones the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung DeX could finally see a big makeover according to One UI 8 test build

(Image credit: Tom's Guide / John Velasco) Android 16 might finally bring a desktop mode to the mobile operating system for the first time, and Samsung may be iterating on top of it with a design of its desktop mode DeX, similar to its One UI skin. If you haven't used DeX before, it's a desktop client Samsung built on top of Android that enables Galaxy smartphones to run a UI that mimics a desktop PC when plugged into or wirelessly connected to an external monitor. Samsung tablets have this feature natively using their own displays. Depending on your Samsung device, DeX can is a great tool for essentially making your phone a portable PC. We found DeX worked great on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 last year. You may like However, it feels left behind on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, largely due to a lack of innovation since the S23 Ultra and the controversial decision to eliminate Bluetooth support for the S Pen. Image 1 of 4 (Image credit: DevOfIpos) (Image credit: DevOfIpos) (Image credit: DevOfIpos) (Image credit: DevOfIpos) Both Google and Samsung are moving up their usual timelines for releasing new versions of their operating systems this year. And DevOfIpos on X, spotted a new version of in a test version of One UI 8, which should launch in July. According to Ipos, they were able to get this redesigned DeX running on a Galaxy S25 Ultra that has a test version One UI 8 installed. From what we can see in screenshots they posted, the updated DeX utilizes a taskbar that opens up an app drawer, a new Quick Settings design and window management. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. A number of these features already exist, but the look and feel appears different, more in line with the reported Google version of a desktop mode. We've written before that Samsung DeX is an underrated feature that other phones should copy but also needs to be improved. Hopefully, Google's version pushes Samsung to innovate a bit. DevOfIpos also pointed a couple of other One UI 8 updates including improved Galaxy Buds integration for older models, a new Quick Share app, and even more blurring of settings screens. One UI 8 might finally fix Secure Folder's biggest security flaws

Mishaal Rahman / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung's Secure Folder feature currently exposes apps and media by over-relying on Android's Work profile. A new leak shows that One UI 8 will likely adopt Android's Private Space API to fix this flaw. With the upcoming update, apps in Secure Folder will no longer work or send notifications when hidden, fixing another flaw. Samsung Secure Folder is an in-built solution on Galaxy phones and tablets that lets users hide apps and files from prying eyes. While the feature locks these apps and files in a new profile and protects them with a screen lock, a flaw in Secure Folder allows anyone to see which apps and photos you have. Samsung didn't publicly take cognizance of the flaw, so it was anyone's guess if the company was working on a fix. A new leak suggests Samsung could fix the issues with Secure Folder with One UI 8. Apps and photos are visible outside of Secure Folder primarily because of the way it works. Samsung creates a Work profile for Secure Folder, which is just a distinct profile from the default personal profile. While the data is containerized, specific components like the Android photo picker and Permission Controller can still see the contents within this Work profile, and end up exposing it in certain situations. Google has its own version of the Secure Folder, which was introduced with Android 15 as Private Space. This is a different 'Private' user profile, which the Android photo picker and Permission Controller treat differently. When this private profile is locked, it is subsequently hidden from the Android photo picker, the Permission Controller, and other system surfaces. How could Samsung fix Secure Folder? One potential way is to adopt the Private Space approach. It seems Samsung is doing just that, as DevOfIpos on X says that Secure Folder on One UI 8 uses the Private Space API instead of the work profile. As per the description that appears when hiding the Secure Folder, apps within the Secure Folder won't work and won't send any notifications while the Secure Folder is hidden. This does add a layer of friction when accessing content stored within the Secure Folder, but it should also fix instances of hidden apps sending you notifications and leaking your stored media. There's currently no word on when One UI 8 will be released. Given that Android 16's stable release is right around the corner, we hope for more news soon. However, One UI 7's delayed rollout has left a bad taste in our mouths, so we aren't holding our breath for a quick One UI 8 rollout. Got a tip? Talk to us!
