More info Television host Claudia Winkleman has provided an insight into her thought process when presenting television shows. Claudia, 53, who co-hosts The Piano alongside Mika and Jon Batiste, has been speaking about she keeps her emotions in check during filming. She explained that the reason is because it is her job to support and empower people rather than get caught up in the moment. She told the Radio Times Magazine that after one episode of The Piano, she was told by her father it was some of the best work she had ever done. On the importance of being emotionally stable whilst filming, Claudia said: 'Because when somebody's telling you their story and the power of it is overwhelming, my job is to give them some strength and safety.' Claudia added: 'After my dad watched last year's final, he phoned me up in tears and he said, 'That's by far the best thing you have ever done'. And that's enough for me, because I can never watching anything I've done back.' Claudia's career has been in the spotlight in different ways in recent days after fellow presenter Vernon Kay played a clip of one of her first television appearances on his BBC Radio 2 show in which she gave dating advice. Remarking on the Claudia's early television appearances, Vernon said: 'It's time to dive into the BBC Archive for our midweek trip into the vault. We're taking our second visit to the '90s in recent days. 'Back in 1996, Claudia Winkleman wasn't known as 'Claudia from Strictly', or 'Claudia from the Traitors', or 'National Treasure Claudia Winkleman'. No, no, no, no! For one of her first TV appearances, we saw a whole different side to our Claud. 'Long before Morning Live was around, we had Good Morning with Anne and Nick on BBC One with Claudia introduced as a 'Chat up expert'. This is genius.' Claudia is now one of the country's most treasured presenters having taken the reigns for Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly and become presenter of The Traitors. It was with The Traitors that Claudia found renewed adoration among the public, but admitted she worries about her career coming to an end, reported the Mirror. She said: I cannot believe my luck. I always panic because [I'm] freelance. I read out loud on tele and somebody suddenly might turn around and go, 'We are done with her'. 'And, that's OK, they can, and I give them full permission and I get it, I'd be like, 'byesy bye, night night, thank you, I've had a lovely run'.' The final of season three of The Piano airs tonight (May 25) at 9pm on Channel 4.

Vernon Kay's 'honest' verdict on King Charles and royals after Buckingham Palace party

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay has shared his succinct opinion of King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family following a personal encounter. During a segment on his BBC Radio 2 programme, Vernon addressed a listener's anxiety about feeling like a "country bumpkin" at an upcoming Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. In the warmer months, the royals are known to hold three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse as an opportunity to engage with members of the public acknowledged for their positive contributions. Vernon quickly shut the "bumpkin" notion down with some words of encouragement, explaining that they're "welcoming". He also revealed what the listener might expect if they met a member of the Royal Family. (Image: Jed Cullen/Dave Benett/Getty Ima) He reflected: "No, you won't! They're very welcoming in the back garden of Buckingham Palace. You'll have a fabulous day. The tea is absolutely delightful. The cakes are superb. "And if you get to bump into or shake hands with a member of the Royal Family, they are very, very gracious, very courteous, and right proper down to earth, I'll be honest with you." Last summer, Vernon, alongside his wife Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing, joined a roster of celebrities including Love Island's Maya Jama, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, action star Jason Statham, and The One Show's Roman Kemp at one such prestigious Garden Party. King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, and the Duchess of Gloucester were in attendance at the event, which was held to honour those working in the film, TV, radio, arts, and fashion industries. At the time, Buckingham Palace remarked: "From theatre to video games, publishing to design, museums and galleries to film sets and music studios, the creative industries, and the creators and organisations within them, bring happiness, prosperity and help shape the world around us." (Image: Getty Images) In a somewhat less regal snippet, Vernon was reportedly left mortified after encountering a surprising side of his wife's Strictly co-presenter, Claudia Winkleman's past, after digging up a clip from a 1996 interview where she chats about the art of flirting. Vernon revealed how, in one of Claudia's earliest TV gigs, she came on as a so-called "chat up expert" on Good Morning with Anne and Nick on BBC One and weighed in on various pick-up lines. Reflecting on modern dating, Vernon wistfully noted: "It's always difficult isn't it? These days it's all done on an app, which is kind of sad, takes the human element out of it, do you know what I mean? Just swiping." He claimed there was previously an "art" to chatting to "someone that you fancied". Vernon added that it was "difficult" before detailing how people would need to get "over that threshold" of "What can I say? What can I do?".

Tess Daly's husband Vernon red-faced after seeing 'different side' to Claudia Winkleman

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay was left bemused after uncovering an old interview with Claudia Winkleman, who fronts Strictly Come Dancing with his wife Tess Daly . The 51-year-old presenter unearthed the throwback clip during his BBC Radio 2 show, which featured a young Claudia discussing the art of flirting. Listeners were in for a treat as Vernon announced: "It's time to dive into the BBC Archive for our midweek trip into the vault. We're taking our second visit to the '90s in recent days." He continued, revealing Claudia's lesser-known past: "Back in 1996, Claudia Winkleman wasn't known as 'Claudia from Strictly', or 'Claudia from the Traitors', or 'National Treasure Claudia Winkleman'. No, no, no, no! For one of her first TV appearances, we saw a whole different side to our Claud. "Long before Morning Live was around, we had Good Morning with Anne and Nick on BBC One with Claudia introduced as a 'Chat up expert'. This is genius." After airing the segment where Claudia gave her take on flirtatious interactions, including a woman asking a man for a light and other cheeky chat-up lines, Vernon couldn't help but feign disgust. Reflecting on how times have changed, he remarked: "It's always difficult isn't it? These days it's all done on an app, which is kind of sad, takes the human element out of it, do you know what I mean? Just swiping. "There was an art to it, chatting to someone that you fancied. It was difficult, it was getting over that threshold of 'What can I say? What can I do?'." In recent chats, Vernon has taken a nostalgic trip recalling times gone by. Sharing with his audience, he spoke about his youngest daughter's GCSE revisions, sparking memories of his own school days. Vernon spoke about his and Tess' daughters Phoebe and Amber, revealing that the study period for 15-year-old Amber brought back sharp recollections. He jokingly admitted: "Got GCSEs on the they're here. We've started ours, we're up and running. Of course, it's stressful. I remember my I don't...I'm lying, it was so long ago - 1990 I did mine. I remember sitting there thinking, 'Gosh, I wish I'd revised'. I'm not remembering anymore, it's making me depressed." Vernon also shared his views on the pressures of academic assessments, commenting: "It's not the way education should be for me, more practical, playing out, hide and seek, I'd have got A+ in that. It's torturous for some kids, isn't it? If you've got who are going through GSCEs, just put your arm around them. "There's nothing else they can do. There's no point cramming. You can cram all you want in your revision, which we all did, let's be honest, but you've just got to hold their hand haven't you? Guide them along, make sure they're alright between their ears, in their noggin."

Traitors host Claudia Winkleman unrecognisable in unearthed clip from 1996

The TV star looked completely different in the old clip which has resurfaced on the internet. Claudia Winkleman fans have been left stunned as an old clip of her in 1996 has resurfaced on the internet and the star looks completely different - and without her iconic blunt fringe. The Strictly Come Dancing co-host joined Tess Daly on the show in 2010, and ascended to the main programme in 2014 after Bruce Forsyth stepped down. The Traitors host is known for the spectacular hair cut and bold eyeliner which became Claudia's signature style. However, fans couldn't believe how different she looked as a youthful 24 year old in vintage BBC archive footage, writes The Mirror. ‌ The Instagram post, featuring the clip, was captioned: "Claudia Winkleman on how to improve your pulling power. OnThisDay 1996: Claudia Winkleman had some top tips and choice chat-up lines to help men and women alike, to improve their pulling power. Clip taken from Good Morning with Anne and Nick, originally broadcast 3 May 1996." ‌ In the video, Claudia was dubbed a "chat up connoisseur", who dishes out flirting advice for both males and females and was without her iconic haircut. Many fans flocked to the comments to talk about how different she looked. With one commenting: "She's a beautiful lady - she doesn't need to hide behind a fringe and eyeliner." Another remarked: "Wow. Looks so different but her voice and mannerisms give it away." While a third admirer noted: "Lovely woman inside and out, then and now." Another user remarked: "Her accent has changed quite a bit, she's definitely not as posh as she is in this clip. I think she's fab." One also commented: "I would never have recognised her." ‌ A different user noted: "Her hairstyle suits her so much more than having a fringe 1⁄2 way down her face. The natural colour looks better too." Winkleman's television career began in 1992 with an appearance on the BBC series Holiday. In the mid '90s, she even featured on This Morning as a reporter, getting the scoop on lots of celebrity news. ‌ Her breakthrough TV role came in 2001 with Central Weekend, a regional debate show. Subsequently, she went on to present Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two and later joined the main show. In recent times, Winkleman has been at the helm of several shows including The Great British Sewing Bee, The Big Fat Anniversary Quiz, Britain's Best Home Cook and The Traitors UK. Tech Advisor reports that recording for season 4 of The Traitors UK is set for this spring or summer, teasing a potential return to our screens in early January 2026. Meanwhile, the BBC excitedly announced on Instagram: "The time for talk is over... The Traitors has been commissioned for a fourth series as well as a nine-part celebrity version for iPlayer and BBC One - and series three has already been filmed in the Scottish Highlands. "But that's not all - The Traitors: Uncloaked is set to make a comeback on @bbcsounds and iPlayer too!" Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
