Traitors host Claudia Winkleman unrecognisable in unearthed clip from 1996

Daily Record08-05-2025

The TV star looked completely different in the old clip which has resurfaced on the internet.
Claudia Winkleman fans have been left stunned as an old clip of her in 1996 has resurfaced on the internet and the star looks completely different - and without her iconic blunt fringe. The Strictly Come Dancing co-host joined Tess Daly on the show in 2010, and ascended to the main programme in 2014 after Bruce Forsyth stepped down.
The Traitors host is known for the spectacular hair cut and bold eyeliner which became Claudia's signature style. However, fans couldn't believe how different she looked as a youthful 24 year old in vintage BBC archive footage, writes The Mirror.

The Instagram post, featuring the clip, was captioned: "Claudia Winkleman on how to improve your pulling power. OnThisDay 1996: Claudia Winkleman had some top tips and choice chat-up lines to help men and women alike, to improve their pulling power. Clip taken from Good Morning with Anne and Nick, originally broadcast 3 May 1996."

In the video, Claudia was dubbed a "chat up connoisseur", who dishes out flirting advice for both males and females and was without her iconic haircut.
Many fans flocked to the comments to talk about how different she looked. With one commenting: "She's a beautiful lady - she doesn't need to hide behind a fringe and eyeliner."
Another remarked: "Wow. Looks so different but her voice and mannerisms give it away." While a third admirer noted: "Lovely woman inside and out, then and now."
Another user remarked: "Her accent has changed quite a bit, she's definitely not as posh as she is in this clip. I think she's fab." One also commented: "I would never have recognised her."

A different user noted: "Her hairstyle suits her so much more than having a fringe 1⁄2 way down her face. The natural colour looks better too."
Winkleman's television career began in 1992 with an appearance on the BBC series Holiday. In the mid '90s, she even featured on This Morning as a reporter, getting the scoop on lots of celebrity news.

Her breakthrough TV role came in 2001 with Central Weekend, a regional debate show. Subsequently, she went on to present Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two and later joined the main show.
In recent times, Winkleman has been at the helm of several shows including The Great British Sewing Bee, The Big Fat Anniversary Quiz, Britain's Best Home Cook and The Traitors UK.
Tech Advisor reports that recording for season 4 of The Traitors UK is set for this spring or summer, teasing a potential return to our screens in early January 2026.
Meanwhile, the BBC excitedly announced on Instagram: "The time for talk is over... The Traitors has been commissioned for a fourth series as well as a nine-part celebrity version for iPlayer and BBC One - and series three has already been filmed in the Scottish Highlands.
"But that's not all - The Traitors: Uncloaked is set to make a comeback on @bbcsounds and iPlayer too!"

Huge EastEnders twist as George's whereabouts on Christmas finally revealed

The floor falls from beneath Elaine Knight's (Harriet Thorpe) feet in EastEnders next week, as she learns where her husband George (Colin Salmon) ran off to on Christmas Day. As viewers of the BBC soap will remember, every member of the Beale and Knight clans provided an alibi for their whereabouts on the festive evening. That was because wicked Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) had been viciously attacked with a snow shovel, and until February, nobody knew who was responsible. It later transpired that Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) was the culprit, but that left a lot of questions as to where everyone else was on the fateful night – and whether they were telling the truth. George told his family that he was partaking in an illegal underground boxing match, but also later asked brother Kojo (Dayo Koleosho) to back up his alibi. He then admitted to daughter Gina (Francesca Henry) that he wasn't at the fight. In scenes that air this week, Elaine is left furious when he helps out with Cindy's relaunch of The Prince Albert, and her rival karaoke party flops, and by this time next week, things aren't any better between the couple. Tension is simmering behind the bar at The Vic as she silently fumes over George lending a hand his ex-wife a hand with her re-opening. Elaine decides to show her husband how committed she is to him, and presents a touching gift honouring his boxing past. However, as they relish in happiness, his son Junior (Micah Balfour) storms in and drops a bombshell. At Christmas, George secretly visited his ex Sabrina – Junior's mum. An argument escalates when he admits that Sabrina kissed him, although he pushed her away. Elaine declares that she's had enough and throws him out of the family home. An emotional George heads out to find Junior to vent his frustration, but instead crosses paths with Cindy, who – perhaps conveniently – is there to offer a shoulder to cry on. Later, Elaine tries to make peace and goes looking for George… only to spot him on the balcony of The Albert in a very warm embrace with Cindy. Heartbroken, she retreats to the café to gather herself. But things go from bad to worse when she returns and Felix lets slip that George and Cindy left together. More Trending Believing that he has betrayed her, Elaine decides not to wallow in self pity and calls up someone for for a drink. While she waits, a cheeky punter named Stephen tries his luck, but is quickly brushed to one side by Elaine's old pal Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton), the drag queen who had a secret relationship with her late husband. Drew gives Elaine a much-needed pep talk, reminding her to remain strong and not let Cindy get her down. Boosted by Drew's words, Elaine makes a shocking decision. View More » What does she do? EastEnders' Shane Ritchie teases return of Spencer Moon

Speaking to The Mirror, Shane, who has played Alfie Moon for more than 20 years, spoke of how he'd like a fellow Moon to return too. Christopher Parker, who played Alfie's younger brother Spencer, arrived on the Square alongside Alfie and their grandmother Nana Moon in 2002. Spencer quickly became a fan favourite, which led Christopher to take part in the first series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2004 – coming in second place. After Christopher left the soap in 2005, he quit acting and re-trained to become a lawyer. Most popular soap operas in the UK Shane told The Mirror: "I would like him to come back. "One of my sons keeps in touch with Christopher [Parker], but he's a lawyer now. "He flies between LA and London. I would love to think that one day they might bring back Spencer, but so much is going on at the moment. 'Alfie could probably do without that." It's not the first time Christopher's name has been mentioned surrounding the soap this year – after Spencer's ex-partner Vicki Fowler returned in February. Recommended reading: It was revealed that Vicki had an affair with Spencer's friend Ross, despite initially claiming Spencer had cheated on her, however, Alfie was quick to correct this after a phone call with Spencer. The tease of Spencer's comeback comes as it was revealed that Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, will also returning to the soap later this year as part of producer Ben Wadey's plans. Last year Alfie and Spencer's cousin Jake Moon, played by Joel Beckett, also made a brief appearance on the soap, squashing rumours that he had been killed off in 2006.

Renée Victor, the voice of no-nonsense Abuelita in 'Coco,' dies at 86

Renée Victor, who voiced the no-nonsense, sandal-throwing Abuelita in Disney's animated hit "Coco" and played the wisecracking Lupita on Showtime's "Weeds," has died. She was 86. Victor's death was confirmed Monday by a representative, Julie Smith, who said the actor had lymphoma for several years. She died Friday at her home in Sherman Oaks, California, Smith said, with family by her side. A post on the Instagram feed of Pixar, which produced "Coco," said: "We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Renée Victor, the voice [of] Abuelita in 'Coco' and an incredible part of the Pixar family. We will always remember you." Victor appeared in 22 episodes of "Weeds" as sassy housekeeper Lupita between 2005 and 2012, among many other TV credits including "ER," "Matlock" and "The Addams Family." But she was perhaps best known for what she called the chancla-throwing grandmother in "Coco," the 2017 family-friendly movie that explored death through the journey of a young Mexican boy to the land of the dead. "I play the part of 'Abuelita,' the chancla throwing grandma that preaches 'No Music!'" she wrote on Instagram, looking back several years ago. "Enjoy 'Coco' with your family this Dia de los Muertos and forever more!" She also looked back at "The Apostle," the 1997 movie that Robert Duvall wrote, directed and starred in. "He took a chance on me with this film," Victor wrote on Instagram. "This is where I got my nickname 'one take Renée,'" she said, adding laughter emojis. "I had a small role but what a great one! Can somebody give me an amen?!" Born in San Antonio, Texas, on July 25, 1938, Victor began her performing career as a singer and dancer. She moved to Los Angeles in the 1960s, according to biography material provided by her representatives, where she launched her career singing with prominent big band leaders Xavier Cugat and Pérez Prado. She also taught Latin dancing, including salsa and the tango. She met her future husband, Ray, during that period, and from 1963 to 1973, they performed together as "Ray & Renée," a variety show that took them around the world — including Australia, where "they enjoyed particular fame," the materials said. In the 1970s, Victor hosted the "Pacesetters" public affairs show on KTLA, her representatives said, and by the '80s had moved into TV and film work. Her film credits, other than "The Apostle," included the 2014 horror film "Paranormal Activity 5: The Marked Ones," "The Doctor" with William Hurt (1991), and "A Night in Old Mexico" (2013), also with Duvall. In 2004, she had a recurring role as Florina Lopez on TV's "ER," and the following year was cast in "Weeds." Other series credits included "Snowpiercer" (2020-2021), "Mayans M.C." (2022), "Dead to Me" (2020-2022), and Amazon's "With Love" (2021-2023). Victor is survived by her daughters, Raquel and Margo Victor, Smith said.
